Honestly, I'm surprised it hasn't happened to me yet, considering some of the off-topic jokes I've cracked. I should know better. Even my personal interactions still tend to be heavily influenced by past professional experience representing brands across multiple online platforms. One poorly used word can destroy a company's reputation, or an individual's. Online discussions are tricky waters to navigate. Inevitably, everyone gets their 15 minutes of shame.
I've just joined this forum and may have made a huge mistake. I flagged a post by mistake: clicked on the flag instead of the like button.
Since nothing happened, I thought it hasn't even registered. It was not one of juliejubz's posts but I may have inadvertedly flagged a post I really enjoyed! I'm so profoundly sorry!
I wonder if this may be happening to other users - flagging posts by mistake. I don't know if I actually did it but it would be useful if there was some sort of confirmation request or warning asking if you really want to flag the post.
As I said, I'm new here and trying to learn as fast as I can. Don't know if I can undo the mistaken flagging or if the damage is irreversibly done - for which I'm deeply sorry.
LoL, @EowynRio, I'm sure it'll be okay. I don't think the flag plugin was properly configured before. I'm pretty sure I did the same thing once or twice, tapping it by mistake. It works like it should now though. Tapping the flag button brings up a submenu with Spam, Abuse, or Report which makes it pretty clear that you're about to submit negative feedback on the post. Hopefully that'll help to prevent accidental flagging.
Thank you @Acumen ! What a relief! The drop down menu didn't appear, so I guess I did no harm after all. I was really worried, so thanks a lot for clarifying. I'm still learning to navigate the forum and gaining truly valuable advice from you all in the process. Thanks!
@EowynRio don't worry! I think you're fine. Plus I've also totally almost done that myself. Sometimes I'm so quick to like things that that little flag next to it is basically beckoning like "click meeeeeee.... click meeeeee...." and then I wonder if anyone else hears the call.... maybe it's speaking parseltongue! .....maybe I have a bigger problem. Mwahahaha...ahem.
of bad words, like the one i recently did in reference to bovine waste
but you can use mundane synonyms that are still obvious in what is really meant (see prior sentence)
i would assume **** latin versions of various adbay ordsway likewise do not pass muster, if spoonerisms trigger a warning
my question is, why would the warning points not expire? especially if the forum admins/mods/app-bots do so little in providing specific guidance of exactly what is verboten.

Everyone, ostracize the new person!

@JulieJubz 😂 Yes, it does have that effect! 😂
i think you cannot get away with “spoonerisms”
