@NoPostSundays I got platform 9 3/4 Fragments from portkeys that I had picked up and walked off before the event. From that, I would expect that they need to be opened during the event and it doesn’t matter when you pick them up. I.e. when the event ends, they will give only the normal rewards.
I’m so glad I came here because somehow I totally missed the 1/4 page count and thought I was going to knock this event out in an hour. The 4 day duration should have been a hint.
@hpwulola so... the trace charm is broken now? I cast it on an emergency earlier and got nothing higher than an orange beam. I've long since upgraded the charm to get at least equal to what I cast it on.
Overall, this seems like a fun event. The only problem I see is that there are so many boosted foundables. With each TTD used, you may get a lot of the traces that the event requires, but due to the odds involved, you may only one or two for whichever task you are currently working on. It can be very frustrating. For example, I currently need Pixies and Erklings and I am 2/3 of the way through a TTD. I have gotten mostly Weasley Twins, with Quidditch Harry and Hedwig thrown in as well. I have only gotten one Pixie, and no Erlkings. It makes it difficult, to say the least.
Update: Well, I finished the TTD having gotten 3 Pixies, one at the very end, which is not too bad I suppose. I got a ton of Weasley Twins, though. So, after I have finally gotten my Pixies and Erklings and moved on to the next task, will Fred and George still be so plentiful, or will I be seeing Pixies and Erklings everywhere? It's worrisome.
Lol, just as I thought, 8 minutes into my next TTD after starting the third set of tasks and I have had three Pixies and not a single Weasley Twin or Dementor encounter.
Update: Okay, so not so LOL after all. Final tally on that TTD: 6 Pixies/Erkling encounters - ONE Weasley Twin - ZERO Dementor encounters. Ridiculous. How is one supposed to get 13 Chocolate Frogs and 7 Hogwarts Express Engine fragments with numbers like that?!Am I really supposed to use 20 TTDs? Judging by the first one, apparently so.

Regarding the event: I'm genuinely interested in what the designer of the event thought about how long it would take the average player to complete this. The number of tasks and number of items required in each task seems a bit too lengthy for my taste for a week day event.

Just not sure what the rule around that actually is, like, what does matter: When opening it, when the key was put it, when it was unlocked, when it was picked up. Does is need to be a regular one or can it be a special one (still have some CD ones around, would they do?).
Just baffled as to why they would change it to something as unexpected as this and not go with the regular "Special Event Portmanteau"....
I managed to get to page three in less than 24 hours, so that's good. I only have to find three more dementors to complete and move on.

It doesn't seem to matter which or the three distances of the regular portkey you open so long as it is opened during the event. I can further surmise that since these are not special portkeys, the platform 9 3/4 will not drop after the event ends, even if you have a key inserted.
I can understand the confusion with all the different ways portkeys are used, but once you figure it out, it's pretty simple. Open a regular portkey during the event and get an extra drop of the platform 9 3/4 sign.

There are a lot of spawns, not a single erkling or pixie with 3TTDs already. @hpwulola I know you wont answer me because you dont answer complaints, only compliments. But why is the game like this now? First, the problem with AS, now this? I have never experienced this in my 2 years of playing, using a TTD for an event task and not a single oddity appeared. I am now losing my motivation to play.
My main complaint about this event is that it seems a little uninspired. The theme is a good idea, but then the tasks don’t have much to do with the theme. There would have been so many foundables that could have been used, the sorting hat, the professors, the thestral. Instead there are a lot of fortress based task which don’t have anything to do with Hogwarts.
Only the fourth set of tasks seems right, except for the “defeat highest chamber “ one. Maybe there are so many fortress tasks because they can be done from home, but it wastes a very interesting event theme.
This would be a lot more fun if my distance tracking was fixed already. Whether the app is open or closed, not a single bit of my distance is counting in the game, so that means no daily task completion and no portkeys being opened :(
Dementors are embarrassingly rare. I have yet to find one but I’ve seen 100+ Fred, George, Hedwig and Hogwarts Students today. (The locked book seems particularly common as well.) Anyway, to add insult to injury, the Slytherin Portrait Dementor (which I’ve found 3), don’t count towards the task.
That is it for me. I have been running around today to find a special Portmanteau just to read now that there isn't such a thing. Is it too much to ask to put this in the event announcements? I used used my last event portkey from the last event, so I didn't get a 9 3/4 sign and didn't notice that this system has changed.
The game accumulates a lot of bugs which don't get fixed, there are back to back events which become more and more uninspired and kind of random. This isn't fun anymore. Even the creators of the game seem to get bored and run out of ideas and motivation to fix anything.

I had trouble with dementors task and ended up using dark detectors. That revealed enough to finish. Not sure this would help everyone, but it worked for me when TFTD didn't.

Running through my getting smaller stash of TTDs and still struggling on the 3rd stage. Non dementors (from TTD) but 2 outside and the abundance of twins has become a lack of siblings.
Finally I get one of the twins appear, I use a field charm to dup and 1 more appears, go catch, and all the others are gone. Restart the application and still not there... so multiple trace, and charms to catch 1 twin?!

Why is it that I get few Hedwigs and a lot of Dementors in the early stages, but the opposite in the later ones? Just the opposite of what is needed. TTD doesn't seem to help much, either.

@ParrishBlue Hedwig is under Legends of Hogwarts, no beam coming off of it. She'll turn up, you just may need to wait a bit or toss in a TTD.

@HalloMami same one, i just exploration and no one found a preciluar portkey portmanteau (9 3/4 sign).
@hpwulola please fix it up drop special portkey 9 3/4 sign because no one found in nine hours too.

TfTD and not one single dementor showed up and only 5 of the twins. 🤬 ridiculous
@Nystrum The Portrait of Salazar Slytherin is guarded by a Banshee, not a Dementor. That’s why it doesn’t count.
