But super confused.... If I entered the sweepstakes and got a confirmation to go claim tickets, I assumed that meant I WON A TICKET! right? No... Still have to buy one, which is fine and all since inexpensive, but what exactly did I win? Lol

The right to go. Not everyone can just show up and participate. Even people living nearby have to play this lottery system to get tickets.
they can only have so many people in and it is never fair to just open the ticket registration one day. if someone has to work at that time they then can't buy a ticket. so there is a lottery for the chance to buy them. makes it fare for everyone.
