Change profession or not

Starting playing, my girlfriend and I both chose Auror as profession.

We're both above 20 now, with some progress in our skills trees.

Just heard from a friend, it would make sense to have two different professions amongst players, playing together regularly.

But just read this here and wouldn't switch based on that.

What's your opinion / advice ?

(Thought about changing to Magiczoologist)

Aurors are the strongest fighters, with the highest damage infliction, Critical Chance/Power, and defence penetration.

Aurors are least able to defend, holding the lowest Stamina, Protego Power, and Defense of all the professions.

Aurors are the least effective against evasive Foes, due to their inferior accuracy.*

Aurors can muster the least amount of Focus points during Wizarding Challenges*

Magizoologists are able to withstand the most amount of damage to any profession and reduce the most amount of damage inflicted by a Foe. They also acquire the highest defence strength and best bonus percentage against type-deficiencies.

A Magizoologist’s greatest short-comings are: Inflicting damage, critical success rate, and the magnitude of their critical hits. (The later is not a substantial loss in comparison with the other professions.)

Having the best type-deficiency bonus seems to make the Magizoologist the most capable of making up for the areas they are lacking in. The theory being, though they still are not inflicting copious amounts of damage, they will be especially difficult to knock out; giving them more time to defeat a Foe. (This may cause them to run into time-related constraints, but that is speculative.)

Do it is my recommendation. Before you waste to many resources.

I played beta and I can assure you that all professions have solo'd all fortress levels.

When you're doing fortresses together you can both take on foes that you're strong with.

She can transfer her focus to you and you can bring her back from the dead.

Aurors only need enough focus for their hexes.

    Level 37 auror here.

I definitely recommend 2 different professions. And if you play together often, then magizoologist would be a good choice. I'm a magi but solo more than anything so have been considering switching to something different (but I love to heal - hence my original choice).

Alternatively, if you go prof, you can buff your gf or debuff confoundables.

My wife and I pair up as auror/professor. So far it's a good combo.

But play what you like the most. Same for your girlfriend. You're supposed to be having fun.

DPS/Healer has always been the best pair to duo with in most combat games.
