Love the new event, but man the treasure trunks are being extremely stingy, I can easily open 20+++ and not get a drop. Is it just me or what? Just a quick update... within 5 minutes of posting I just opened 21 trunks and no gifts 😭
I’ve become more and more convinced that it’s something other than wonky RNG. On an average I get tons of trace drops, moe often than not they are wasted because I’m full. This weekend when they are needed more than ever I think I’ve pulled maybe three. I’m starting to feel that they have a built in toggle to change the drop rate!
It used to be about a 5% chance for books and gold gifts. With the iOS issues and gold gifts and books from chests leading to less purchases; they likely lowered the drop %, in order to try to recover some of the lost purchases.
Over the event weekend, I calculated my drop % to be slightly over 2% for gold gifts, so maybe they halved the drop % and my luck was slightly bad. I didn't bother tracking books.

A couple days ago, I too did almost 20 treasure trunks, but I got 6 gold gifts.
Inn Charms, which I rarely use, drop regularly. Trace Charms, which I would use, drop rarely.

Exactly. Drops from treasure chests are becoming as rare as real treasure!
if we are going to be given some thing and then have it taken away from us — just don’t give it to us at all.
I bought the gold gift upgrade 4 days ago and no gold yet. Only a couple of traces. I think I wasted my 100 DADA books. 😫
