    Hi all who are following this thread:

    HPWU has finally posted something referencing fixes in the upcoming v2.17 update (understandably without a due date as they try to fix the multiple messes) . Regarding the ”Purchase failure” bug for iOS, it is specifically mentioned, so there is hope of a fix soon, maybe... At least they may have listened to some of our requests here to stop pushing events until they fixed their code!

    Once fixed, I hope HPWU sees the wisdom in ALSO fixing the situation where folks had their money taken when the app indicated the purchase had failed, and when we were told in app that a purchase would be restored but didn’t get the purchase (but charged anyway).

    I would also request that HPWU also work with Apple to help BOTH provide better customer service that what was exhibited in this situation where HPWU told us to got to Apple for a refund, and then told by Apple that no refund could be made and to go and talk to the Developer of the app. A customer service best practice would include addressing this catch 22 once it was made apparent (in this case, in November 2020 and multiple times since then) . I know I want to continue playing the game; HPWU, please do what you need to do to support the players with rightful grievances, ok?

    Here is the post referencing the v2.17 fix they are working on.

    Frankly, I just don't have any confidence in Niantic at all. I will NEVER use another game or product developed by Niantic again. I am invested in HPWU and enjoy it (when it is working) so I keep hoping they will ... one day ... fix this, but that hope is fading and they have truly destroyed their reputation. At this point, it is only a matter of how badly they've destroyed it. It is beyond any explanation than either 1) gross incompetence or 2) absolute arrogance or a combination of both that this has gone on this long without a solution. No other developer has a problem figuring out how to make in-game transactions work. So either they can't (incompetence) or don't care (arrogance).

    @ShrimpNGritsKS the game is a partnership between Portkey Games (WB) and Niantic. As I understand it, the management and development is done by Portkey. I'm not sure Niantic deserves the brunt of your anger.

    @ShrimpNGritsKS

    Rather than arrogance or incompetence, I'm wondering if motivation isn't involved.

    If I was a dev working on HPWU, I'd be much more excited (and thus work harder) when creating new features and events for the game than when I was fixing bugs. Fixing bugs may be considered dull --certainly not something to inspire a dev to work 16 hour days or on weekends.

    That there has been no March calendar and nothing except increased-drop-rate Spotlights has me thinking that there has been an "all hands on deck" edict--for devs to drop everything else and work on fixing bugs and getting 2.17.0 pushed out the door.

    Hey @ShrimpNGritsKS !

    Your frustration is justified and I can only imagine how exhausting it must be for you, and for many players waiting on this.

    But as @MtPollux has mentioned, if the game is in partnership with different developers, i think it must certainly be a complicated and complex process to get all of those done at the quickest time possible. Especially (speaking from a business perspective I experience on a daily basis) when 2 different companies have a series of targets to accomplish that's also a part of their priorities.

    The bombarding amount of comments that do display the community anger can come across as demotivating though and on our part, we shouldn't let that happen. Its understandable, but defs shouldn't be directed towards calling their members incompetent.

    I do hope they're able to release a follow up on the update when its possible .

    Can confirm: the latest update takes up a metric mooseload of space, but seems to have fixed the iOS purchasing issue.
