I have been using another device to “purchase” or access bonus items. It’s an easy work around for now to avoid iOS issues. (My iPad isn’t affected, yet 🤫😒🤨.)
This also impacts my ability to ‘rent’ a cauldron thusly making it very difficult to get restocked on potions for the upcoming adversaries event... can’t purchase and slow brewing is gonna make the event painful and frustrating when we run out of potions and cannot complete the adversaries encounters.
@Harrio11 Apple will not refund in game purchases and Niantic can’t refund you. I’ve had the app glitch on me before and double charge me and Apple refused to refund me my money. The only way you can get your money back is by calling your bank/credit card company and explaining the issue to them. They should refund you. Just FYI tho if you choose to go that route Apple will no longer accept that payment method. Like my purchase was made through PayPal and I can’t use PayPal to purchase anything from Apple anymore I have to directly use my credit card.

I couldn’t make in app purchases. I tried everything. Then I tried hermylilly’s fix posted Jan 1, and it worked!! Katclaw13 on Dec 29, basically, recommends the same. Thanks!

Guys, it’s almost been two months. How many thousands of dollars have you lost because of this? Seriously, I want to give you my money. I love this game, but I don’t know of any situation where I could mess up an order and not fix it for 10 weeks. I hate being this person because I do not want to abuse anyone. However, this is not fun anymore.
You issued $100 credit to those attending the disastrous first Pokémon Go Festival. This needs to happen here. No matter how many myriad events are created to retain players you cannot maintain an unplayable game.
In the meantime please keep sending potion and spell energy gifts, friends! It has been a rocky climb from 59 to 60.

So an update which is totally weird because I continue to lose money trying to buy gold in-app: sometimes it works. ****? Through some mysterious combination of events I was able to get a Pile of gold purchased (still had to log out is Apple ID to purchase anything with it). But the Trunk and Chest purchases both did not yield gold, but the Chest purchase is pending processing by Apple...
This is so messed up, and it seems I will never get any of my money back NOR the gold that these experiments should have purchased.
I have now also send a quality issues report about the App to apple: they take 30% of the money, so they should do anything against the money theft Niantec is doing with apples customers!
Why Apple is not doing more about this broken app thieving Apple customers’ money I cannot fathom. I am simply not spending on their platform. Saves me ££££! Clearly they make so much money and are too dominant in the market that they simply do not care.

„I checked your case again, it's an error with the app. Since we didn't develop this app, you still have to contact the developer. He is responsible for shopping problems in the app.“
I put in a claim for a refund with apples morning for $49.95 which is a lot of money for me to be spending on the game. If Apple refuses a refund that’s $50 down the drain.
All wizard support said was to go to Apple and apply for A refund.
IMHO what wizards is doing with refusing to fix this bug is very close to theft.
I lost £99.99 this way. Needless to say I am not making any other purchases. This is theft. Niantic says Apple should refund and Apple says it is Niantic’s problem. I asked why the App is not suspended while these serious issues are worked out - no response. So they are quite happy to have theft occurring on their platform as they get the money!
I learned this morning that my $49.95 had been refunded by Apple.
The only things that might have contributed to a better outcome for my case are:
1) after my $49.95 purchase failed, I immediately contacted Apple support while the charge was still listed as "Pending" on my account.
2) I spent 20 minutes on chat with an Apple rep, and I gave her a reference number (101281238427) of another report. That report is supposed to contain a solution and is described on page 2 of this thread.
3) This was the first time I had requested a refund from Apple.
If Apple hadn't refunded, my credit card would have been charged. Wizards would get their 70% (?) from that charge and Apple would get the rest.
I suppose I could have disputed the charge with my CC company, but rumor has it that a person who does that may be cut off from any more purchases in the App Store, and I didn't want to risk that.
Why should Wizards be in a hurry to fix this? They are getting the money even if I get nothing. There is, of course, the "once bitten, twice shy" factor. Like you, I will be making no more purchases of gold until this is fixed. How much money Wizards is losing from players like you and me (and from those who quit playing) is hard to quantify.
Oops, just reported the bug and then saw this thread. Can’t claim the gift though interestingly I did buy a load of storage the other day without issue. Well, buying gold gave an error message even though the transaction completed fine.
When can we look forward to this bloody update/fix... I’m losing my mind not being able to play the game properly. I’m not going to bother writing out all the annoyances that I’m sure everyone else has outlined, but My lack of spell energy and the ability to get some from the store has basically ruined this adversaries event. And that makes me very sad.
We need to tweet to Niantic, Niantic Support, HPWU, Apple, and whoever else about how they are stealing from us - I feel that’s the only way they’ll get their butts into gear - two freaking months with NO FIX ! WTAH

And when would that be, I asked? Weeks? Months? 2022?

I was, however, able to get some of my money refunded from Apple (not all of it, of course) by actually chatting with online from the Support section on Apple’s homepage. Once I was able to chat with someone, rather than the **** support bots, it was at least a little better.
Niantic/Warner/HPWU needs to own up and fix this bug and they should stop rolling out events until they do.
so frustrating... I’m going to stop playing soon because it is a constant reminder that they don’t really care about the game and their customers’ experiences except to get their money.

Still unable to buy a coin... over a month. Almost done with this. How long is this going to take??? Why can’t we speak with a human?
I have reported them to Apple for App Store TOS violations. Nothing else seems to get their attention.
