Same here. New phone but still the same problem. It looks like no one is working on it. Yesterday it happened to a friend of mine too. Its been like this for a month for me. Cant even get the free gift or brew extra. This is not fun anymore, and I am usually a patient person.
This has been an issue now for multiple events. What a strange business model to literally not be able to accept payments from players for any in game items? This needs to be fixed.
This is honestly pathetic. How can you keep on having events and not fix this issue. Honestly this shows what a poor company this is. I’m deleting the app. It’s been more than a month. Honestly so unacceptable.

Hi. Is this yet another event (Adversaries) that support will not help us with the complimentary package?
I also once again can’t purchase a package because I can’t buy gold still.
I can’t use my rental cauldron and support says they can’t help with that.
Also please tell me that any compensation won’t be given to everyone, since that isn’t compensation. The players who are not experiencing this issue got their complimentary gifts already while those of us with this issue are getting “support can’t help you anymore”.

Tonight I followed the advice to log out of Apple and try to purchase a different coin amount. So I purchased £99.99 of coins - as this was an amount I had not purchased before, per the advice. My credit card was charged but no gold coins! It is completely unacceptable. It is made worse by the poor customer support and the fact the support bot does not work. You simply cannot contact Niantic to sort the problems even if out of pocket because of the support bot failures. Next call to credit card provider to report fraud?? Do not follow the “fixes” on this blog as you can end up out of pocket with no redress.
update: I have contacted Apple Support to report the in-App not received and requesting a refund. Fingers crossed Apple can sort this since Niantic is incapable of doing so.
The issue is getting worse. I can’t even use coins that I received in game and I am being charged when I use the work around and not getting my coins. I lose out on complimentary gifts because I don’t have the ability to always log out of my apple account and log back in before the event is over.
I still cannot make purchases in Wizards Unite on my iPhone X running iOS 14.3 (18C66). However I tried the same thing on my iPad which is also running that version of iOS and I can make purchases. BTW, I have the same problem in Pokémon Go and likewise, I can make purchases on my iPad. I don’t know if that helps figure out this problem. I hope so.

I am having the same iOS purchasing bug as everyone else, reported it, al all we get is “we’re investigating.” What’s weird is that, by logging out of “Media & Purchases” I was able to purchase one round of a gold purchase a week ago but when I tried again for this event, I get a fun new error
“This In-App Purchase has already been bought. It will be restored for free” which it is not. I get a processing page that never finishes or closes and says our old friend “Purchase failed. Pleas try again”
if nothing else, could you change the error message? How about something like “WU doesn’t want your money badly enough to fix this error yet. Try again later”
c’mon folks... do better. It’s been long enough and very frustrating, for WU as well, I am sure.

I agree with the poster who advised stopping all events until this issue is resolved. It seems as if new events are coming every three or four days. The adversaries have almost depleted my potions and without being able to rent a cauldron I can’t replenish my vault quickly enough. I’ve been playing Pokémon Go as well as WU since the beginning of both games and have spent quite a bit of money. If this issue doesn’t resolve soon I will cut WU loose; it’s too frustrating. While I’m at it, would you PLEASE stop having events in both games at the same time?? I can’t be the only person who plays both games and it’s a nightmare trying to do two game events at the same time.
The continuation of this issue with no obvious attempt at resolution is so frustrating. I really enjoy playing the game and don’t want to feel forced to delete it, but that is where I am headed. At least we had workarounds for a bit, annoying as they were, but now not even those are working.
In the old days an update could be rolled back. It seems a disgruntled programmer gave Niantic and us the **** on their way out the door. You can’t remove the eggs from a cake but honestly, who throws out an update w/o testing it first. Since it is specifically an iOS issue then that should define where it look. I quit POGO for some these same reasons. They take and take and want $ for everything and then CS acts like you should be honored to play their game and shut up when something goes wrong. Mario Kart here I come!

This workaround has not been tested beyond the in-game store, but may provide some relief for those frustrated iOS players who can’t exchange gold/coins for items:
You will need a “clean” second device that can play WU & have sufficient gold/coins on account. NOTE: The second device can’t have previously been used to purchase WU gold/coins using real $$ or the workaround may not work.
Log out of your WU account on your primary playing device
Log into your WU account on the “clean” second playing device
You now should be able to do gold-for-item exchanges in the in-game store - including the complimentary packages.
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS WORKAROUND TO BUY MORE GOLD USING REAL $$ OR YOUR SECOND DEVICE WILL BE “BRICKED” FROM DOING ANY FURTHER GOLD-FOR-ITEM EXCHANGES! The “purchase” bug may be in the “use real $$ to purchase gold/coins” code; the bug, in turn, bricks any further in-game gold-for-item exchanges.
After finishing your exchanges, log out of your account on the second device and log back into your account on your primary playing device. You’ll find your recently acquired items in your vault.
I’d advise against playing WU on your second device; you want to be able to use this workaround until the devs fix things.
FYI - I was able to purchase new/more gold/coins one time using this workaround, then was bricked from doing any further gold-for-item exchanges. You may want to contact Support to purchase new gold/coins per their Bot.
This workaround has NOT been tested on the rental cauldron routine. Use at your own risk.

We’ve missed several events in which we were refused our complimentary items and are only “allowed” to buy things if we spend coin or money! This feels like a lazy, greedy ploy. I’m losing patience and interest in your game. I’m very sad and disappointed. This could be been something that I spent a lot of time and willing money on, but not now. Not like this.
I wish I had checked for known bugs before purchasing gold during the adversaries event. I won’t be able to complete any events until this is fixed. Not in full, anyway. I always end up needing more energy to complete events. Fingers crossed for a resolution in our near future.

So I went down a bit of a rabbit hole the other night with some spare iPhones, and here's an account of what I tried, what I found, what didn't work at all and what kind of worked...
Renaming the phone: Still unable to purchase
Factory restoring the phone and restoring from a previous backup: Still unable to purchase
Factory restoring the phone and starting from scratch with main Apple ID: Still unable to purchase
Factory restoring the phone and logging in with a brand new Apple ID: Able to purchase
The interesting thing about this last attempt is that not only was I able to successfully make a coin purchase, but it did not break the Apple ID. I was able to make the exact same purchase again on the same device a moment or two later. So it looks like the issue is not associated at all with the device and only with the Apple ID. Not sure if that helps the developers any, but if you are a player with a spare phone and some spare time, it does look like there's a good workaround.
My plan is to make coin purchases on this spare phone, stay logged out of Media and Purchases on my main phone (so I can use my coins to buy bundles) and continue to play the game from there.
