Any news on this? A friend purchased gold coins but didn’t recieve them in their account, and ingame support reporting is not possible due to that related bug... what can they do to contact support? @HPWUblue@hpwulola ?
It doesn’t matter if you do contact support. They refuse to do anything anyway. I lost my money and neither Apple or the developers plan on doing anything about it.
Gotta say I’ve gone through the purchase withdrawals and have now calculated this glitch has saved me over 400$ All I can say is thx Niantic for showing me the light! No more $ for your programmers that put out updates w/o testing them.

Thank you for the update on this issue @hpwulola . Since the start of this issue, many of the players have been carrying other players with gold, ingredients and spell energy. As players who are not in high spawn areas are struggling to play. Is it possible to request that the gifting limit/ amount of gifts opened for these users be increased so their gameplay isnt limited? Or maybe an increase in gold in terms of daily tasks for these users?
Another event, still can’t get keys, complimentary gifts and I can’t even rent a cauldron! Is there any time frame of getting this fixed so we can go back to enjoying the game???
Click on the account button in the upper right hand corner it will show you your account information.
Scroll to the bottom and touch the Sign out link to log you out.
If Wizards Unite is open, force it down. (If you're not sure how to do this please search Google.)
Re-open Wizard Unite. It should display the traditional splash screen. If it doesn't show the splash screen, then repeat step 4.
Immediately go to Diagon Alley and select your free gift. It should allow you to accept it. If it does not, stop and re-read steps 1-6.
Immediately switch over to Gringotts and select the coins you want to purchase. Note: DO NOT select the coin amount that caused the problem in the first place. You know you selected the wrong one if it tells you that you already ordered it and Apple wants to restore it for free. The application will hang forever until you force it down. If this happens, repeat steps 1-5, and 7. Skip 6 because you already have the free gift.
The game will ask you for your user ID and password. Please enter them.
The game will then go through the purchasing process. For me the screens were very sluggish but it did work.
At some point it will allow you to click 'OK' to return to the game. The game will now hang and you must force it down.
Re-open Wizards Unite and verify the coins made it to your account. If you did it right your account should now have extra coins. Also, if you need more coins, please repeat steps 1-5, and 7-11. It's a one time fix that you must repeat if you want more coins.
Go to Settings/Help/Contact Help.
Tell Remy, the automated bot, what items you want to buy and how much.
Remy will fail miserably and eventually ask is this is an IOS purchase. Tell Remy, yes.
Another text box will appear that will go to a real human being. Tell Remy the item you want to buy, and the cost of the purchase.
Wait 10-15 minutes and Niantic usually adds the new items and subtracts your total coin amount.
If you want additional items, please repeat steps 12-16.

I’m tired of this . Fix the game!11 This is ridiculous. This game has not worked right since Thanksgiving. I have not received any of the free gifts and not able to purchase. I should not hAve to do the crazy work around. I am angry and pissed off.

Yes, this is still an issue. However, MALVEAUXTHEBOLD's post does explain a couple workarounds that sort of work. Logging out of your Apple ID will allow you to pick up the free boxes. I have not yet been able to purchase more coins by any of the means explained in his/her post. If you already have coins, use the in app help to talk to the bot about how you want to spend them.
This problem has been going on for quite some time. Cannot claim complementary gift or buy anything in dragon ally. I would expect a little more service from Niantic. I only spend about $100 a month on this game and maybe 200 on Pokémon. I would think I would be treated better than this
There is one way to fix this issue on iOS call Apple the issue you are experiencing is that you have a And Itied up on the wizards unite app just have them clear that payment

I really enjoyed this game and I’m sad it’s not working anymore for me (I’ve tried all the workarounds but can no longer purchase coins so now it’s moot - but what a pain to have to sign out every time anyway and it messes up my other apps and music too much). I wish they could have fixed this.

Part of my frustration comes from the fact that Niantic Support keeps referring me to the Pokemon Go help pages, and since I follow the company and it's support section on twitter, I know that Pokemon Go gets infinitely better customer support and bug-fixes.
It's been 2 months of hassles, work-arounds, and struggling for me. Now I can't even collect energy by tapping on it from the map.
January 15 and redeem complimentary gift still not possible. Same for redeeming gold. This level 51 player is getting tired of these ongoing, now months-long in-app purchase problems!
We are still investigating this issue, in the meantime please continue to work with Support for requests to trade Gold for in-app items. We are doing what we can to streamline this process. Thank you for your patience.

@hpwulola Do you think it's possible to add additional clarification about the IOS issue? The standard answer of "We are still investigating the issue" is getting pretty old, and is causing a lot of goodwill to be lost between the players and the company. Surely by now it would be OK to give a generalized description of the root cause and what Niantic is doing to correct it. Why not set expectations so people understand what is going on?

I'm really sorry to hear about how many people are dealing with this bug.
Am I the only one who's kind of surprised to find out there are so many people who are spending so much money on the game?

Be careful following those steps to purchase. They are pretty much what I did and the money is gone with no gold and no refund.
