Scheduled POI Server Work — Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Community Forum
edited January 8 in Announcements#1 latest comment 23 January, 2021, 01:43 pm.
We will be performing server work to our in-game locations on Monday, January 11 at 10 p.m. PT– 11 p.m. PT. During this time, live data (such as Dark Detectors, Charms, and Growing Ingredients) at Inns, Greenhouses, and Fortresses will be reset.
@hpwulola What does that actually mean... "live data will be reset"? I don't understand. Should I not use any of these items during that time? Will those items be unavailable for use during that time??? Please help me understand. Thank you.
@HalfBloodShun it means that to be safe, dont do any Dark Detectors, fort battles, spin/harvest inns/greenhouses, plant or gather stuff, pick up ingredients or in any way interact w gifts and so on to be safe that you dont end up losing stuff. Basically just close the game for an hr/until they release info that maintenance is done
Why not take the game offline during this time? Based on the disastrous results last May when game data updates were done while people played, it seems like just shutting the game down for an hour would be a much safer choice.

I believe this will correct our Wayspot syncing issue. We will be keeping a close eye on things, please keep me updated on how your maps look! Thanks for continuing to follow up with us on this thread.
It would be good to tie this POI sync into the upcoming Brilliant Event.
Say that the muggle reporter noticed strange things happening at important places. Their local cafe suddenly had a place for customers to grow plants, or their local church seemed to have people arriving more often, outside of the usual hours.
@Karmassus theyre doing it b/c POI sync has been broken since June. (poi sync is what migrates/adds/integrates newly added POIs (potential new inns/forts/GHs) into the game), theyre fixing a bug which might/can/will help more ppl get more pois near them, even possibly accessible from their homes, and although theyre not fixing it for this reason it will help w the pandemic, if you -can- have 1 or more pois accessible from home then you dont need to go out to refill SE or plant stuff in GH etc.
Essentially -if it goes well- it's a bug fix on somewhat of a core-feature of the game that's been broken for months. In fact if you add the 1 month mid-march-late april that it was also broken the POI sync has been broken for nearly a year of the game's life. That's nearly one year w/o any new pois in-game. I'd say the fix has been a long time coming one and very much needed.

Why??? And how this improve our expirience in the game??? Thank in advance.
Will this fix the IOS Purchasing bug?
@hpwulola will this activate all the missing POI?
if this fixes poi sync broken since June, FINALLY!
i hope this will include the possibility for HPWU to also submit POI data

@hpwulola any chance that this could also resolve the Twin Cities nuked POI issue?
https://community.harrypotterwizardsunite.com/en/discussion/12062/all-inns-fortresses-and-greenhouses-missing/p1
A nuke maxima bombarda spell that wipe out all poi? 😱😱😱
@Kodokmag yep!
a calamity wiped out hundreds of Pois in Minneapolis/St. Paul. December 17.
@hpwulola ditto to @cosk62
Will the POI server work return the missing POIs in the Twin Cities?
Have y'all seen out outage map?!
And ditto @MtPollux is the update safer to do with the game offline?
Would it really have taken you that much time to just add 2-3 lines to the message to actually EXPLAIN what you'll be doing to the poi?
And once again: fix the **** in-game announcements, what about people who don't check this forum?
(I've now taken the habit since missing out on december special event with TTD and fortresses)
As usual: love the game, hate the communication around it.
@Karmassus :
Scheduled POI Server Work
this is what and why theyll be doing on monday.
It would be good to tie this POI sync into the upcoming Brilliant Event.

@Drakonite
Thanks but... Still don't get what they'll be doing, and if it's safe to play during that time.

@Owlx @cosk62 Yes, the idea is that this sync will update the Wizards Unite map locations to match what what our database has.
This server maintenance will only be impacting in-game location data, so general gameplay will be unaffected. @Karmassus
That is a creative idea @PkmnTrainerJ!
Alright, I'm reassured now. I've just got several paramount portkeys in a row. Is that to compensate the missing POI?
@Drakonite Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it!
karm: rng as always
halfb: yw!
is it done yet?
now is over 11 PM PT isnt it?
no POI change in my area. 😭
@Kodokmag, 9 more hours. It's 1:32 PM there.
Too accustomed for 11 am schedule. May bad LoL
nothing new/changed here....should be over by now?
Same here, no any changes, the old inns and greenhouses disappearing randomly from time to time I reload the game, but nothing new.. yet, I hope
dont forget to finish all your bussiness (daily), who knows maybe effecting on something. LoL
No new POIs noticed, and my growing shrooms in a greenhouse nearby was not reset.
Yep... nothing reset. No new POIs. Looks to be another failed attempt at a fix; or someone forgot to schedule the task properly.
