I’m in Maryland. This is the first glitch that has really affected my play. I’ve not been any to collect the complimentary gifts from the last two events. I missed completing the last event by one item! So frustrating. I really hope it gets fixed soon, and we get reimbursed the complimentary gifts and event bonuses (for me, the event before this one. I’m disappointed it has taken this long to correct.
I am now in quarantine with Covid. I can’t walk around to collect energy. I can’t purchase anything. I am relying solely on gifts of energy. Maybe Niantic could allow the number of gifts we can open be unlimited until this is fixed. That’ll allow me to play at least.
Please tell us the truth, you could not solve the problem, and the players who can no longer buy anything in the store or claim gifts, soon we will not be able to play anymore, it is frustrating not being able to buy a tonic in a tower , not being able to buy keys. Soon we will be able to play very little
Now in week 4 of not being able to buy anything or claim free gifts, I logged on today to find a bare landscape...no towers, no foundables, no items. Something is seriously wrong, and no one at HPWU is even close to mentioning a future fix. It would be nice to have at least a daily "we're working on it" post from an admin.
I have attempted every “fix” I can find and I am still unable to claim my complementary gift NOR make a purchase. Very frustrating to have spent money on coins and not be able to Claim.
Any assistance to resolve this issue as soon as possible will be greatly appreciated.
I am finding this game support a joke and ripoff. I also play Pokémon Go. They NEVER have these issues. Makes want to see if there was ever a class action suit against an online game.... hmmmm
I've been DM-ing back and forth with Niantic Support (Niantic Help) on Twitter and every suggestion they offered has been either useless or relates to Pokemon Go.
Suggestions have included, for example:
-they suggest I turn on Screen Time and make sure iTunes & App Store Purchases are enabled
-making the purchases on another device
-changing my device language from English to something else, then switch back to English
This issue is truly infuriating. I have spent far too much real time and money already and there is no sign of things getting corrected in-game. I had used the “work-around” for about a week and now that has stopped working as well. I used to look forward to all of these new events and now it’s become obnoxious to watch others make progress while unable to participate myself. I feel as if the company has decided to abandon its customers and pass the buck rather than address these problems with a real fix. Apologies don't replace the money spent and still ultimately haven’t been refunded or given an alternative.

I contacted Apple on this issue. They said they would be bring the pressure (hopefully). I am going to request a refund for my $500 apple App Store gift card as HPWU is the only game I spend money on. If I can’t do that, might as well spend it on other things! Maybe I’ll put it in my education account and pursue an IT degree - might figure out a bug fix for y’all! It’s so disheartening for many who can’t play the game to its fullest. Honestly, I would settle for just renting a cauldron 😭
Is there any more of an update on this fix? A time line? And info that can be shared at all? Any proof that people have been working on this fix? Or is everyone busy getting party decorations for Snapes birthday?
Apparently, they prefer to ignore it. One workaround allowed me to use my available coins, using the in app help line. Another let me get the free box for the last event. We'll see if it works for the next. In the meantime, I can't purchase any new coins. Not even sure if I will when this is fixed. You'd think with a loss of a large number of players purchasing stuff, they'd be a bit more attentive.

I happen to agree with @Onewish55. It would be nice to have a rough timeline about when this will be fixed. I play the game all of the time and I’m at the point where I’m about ready to move on because of this issue. My character is almost out of coins and at my level it would take forever to advance without purchasing a few items from the store.
I feel your pain, @MalveauxTheBold . I buy most of my spell energy because collecting it via walking/traveling is out of the question, especially since Covid, so without being able to purchase gold from Diagon Alley my game progress is stalled.
@Antique100 Lucky you!! For me I am using my Facebook ID to connect to Wizards Unite. Following the steps in #39, I was successful in collecting the free gift but buying additional coins is still broken.
So far none of that works for me. I’ve even done a full wipe and reinstall. Nope. Seems they’d learn not to put out an update before checking these things. Had I not updated back in December I’d be fine.
Let us gift keys and darkmarks. At least until those overpaid programmers come back to work. And who need spell energy gifts when spell energy is all over the ground? **** is with that logic???
I’ve posted this elsewhere but this problem is worse than being unable to buy or use currency. My gold purchase went through as normal but I haven’t received the gold. Support say they have no record of the purchase, money has been taken from my account and Apple refuse to refund.
I looked in the 'report a bug' discussions, and it seems the thread about this issue has been deleted. yet another reason to think they just really don't care all that much.
Your communication on this problem to all of us has been horrible. It’s been a month and you can’t even muster some sort of timeframe for a fix. Why? Are you simply willing to let all of us affected leave the game? Because that’s precisely how it feels. Not a great business model considering the number of iPhone users who play this game and spend real dollars to advance.

Interesting that Niantic “might” be able to help with purchased items and NOT Complimentary.

Well since support obviously doesn’t care I think it’s time to delete this non working game and move on to a non niantic one that works

@SchnatzHunter You probably had a very bad support employee on the phone. Did you let him/her look at the incident number I provided of my case?
I've been successfully using the solution provided by katclaw13 in post #39 to both use coins and to buy them.
It's a pain to have to go to my phone settings and turn Apple Media & Purchases off and on every time, but at least it works for me.
