Wow, finally got my third wit-sharpening gift after doing a ton of challenges today (got 2 from greenhouses last night). Luckily I was already wanting to do a lot of challenges while they give out spell energy, but took WAY too long.
I've gathered easily 200 gifts since the event began and I've received exactly 1 wit sharpening gift. I've used up nearly all of my rune stash. What am I missing!?
Well... Yet another example of the lack of direction provided in game as to how things work. I've been playing for several months but I don't have any friends who play. I have randomly found gifts in the past - but had NO CLUE there was a limit to how many you can have at a time or even how to access them. I had to look it up 😬 but thanks to those who mentioned "having space" for more gifts here or else I would never have even known to check that! I found I did have my inventory full so I deleted some. Let's see if the wit sharpening gifts show up now 🤔☹️
As a casual player who just likes to use the game to **** time and especially when I'm out walking anyway, I have found the lack of in-game instruction really frustrating. I shouldn't have to search forums to figure out the basics of game play.
Finally got a response to my in game ticket about the lack of Wit gifts. It was a non answer. "Random drops from greenhouses and challenges". Yanno, if you've got this many people unable to complete this task because they can't spend 12 hours a day running between fortresses and greenhouses for 3 days to complete 1 task you should know by now that there is a problem! I've lost my patience. My daughter quit this game 3 months ago and we'd love playing together. She was tired of scrambling to complete events on her 2 days off. It was like a 2nd job to her. This "event" has made me understand her feeling. Smart cities are in Lockdown. Are you gonna plop a darned greenhouse in my yard? I'm not traveling to a crowded park for 3 days to complete this idiotic task. All these complaints and the problem isn't even mentioned on the known issues post. All you're working on is the problem where some people on IOS devices can't buy stuff!! I've completed 40 to 50 challenges a day for 3 days with 1 Wit gift to show for it. I'm done. Just done. Yes, for pete's sake I have room in my gift inventory. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game, downloaded all assets twice now. The problem is not us it is the game!
Excited about the new challenges, disappointed that we don't get a say in continuing to enjoy the wizarding weekends. It makes no sense to not allow both and set them on different weekends. I agree with the many posts here and on Reddit there has to be a bug to be corrected, or a rethink on the 'find 3 wit sharpening gifts'. After 25 km and more than 50 greenhouses and Inns, receiving and giving more than 3 wit sharpening gifts, playing fortresses, I too can't get three. Seems insane and a huge disincentive to playing, especially when Adversaries use so many potions and energy to succeed. Rather than motivate me to get to level 60, I may pack it in and quit. This has burst the bubble for me.
Cant get the event complete due to the Wit Sharpening Potion. I have spent the last 2 days playing all levels of the tower, many forest and dark and cant get the potion. I got 2 in the tower on friday and none since. None in green houses yet. I have put in so many hours for 1 potion and looks like I wont be capable of finishing the event. Another miss. Are you all finding any trick to this?
I'm sorry to hear that it's so hard for most of you here, but I haven't had such a bad experience yet. I managed to get my 3 gifts from greenhouses within 2 days, and it took longer only because I didn't realize I had too many gifts.
Maybe try to go for areas with a lot of greenhouses?
Still haven't found any wit sharpening gifts. Got everything done but that. I don't have any friends to exchange gifts with maybe that's why I can't find any. @Kodokmag Nope you need to get the gift either from a greenhouse or from a wizarding challenge. It's given in Addition to the regular mandatory gift these place give so you need to have at least two free spot in your gift list.
I've completed the whole event and haven't gotten a single wit sharpening gift from anything. Nothing from greenhouses or challenges. I'm getting really frustrated. I was at the park for 4 hours bouncing between greenhouses and playing challenges and still nothing. A bunch of other folks seem to be having the same issue.
Please fix this bug, we can't complete the event if the game doesn't work.
The event is almost over, and I wasn't able to win the last 2 Wit-Sharpening gifts in the fortress challenges. It is disappointing but I still had a lot of fun when I can take a break to play. Maybe at next event I will be able to finish.

It is a shame so many had so much trouble with the wit sharpening gifts. I was fortunate to receive them all on Friday. I actually received a fourth one before I just let my gifts reach max. I really don't have any active friends right now, so nowhere to go with all the gifts I have, but that's another story.
I was able to obtain about 125 DADA books in all and spent most on upgrading strong ex and wit sharpening potion strength. I have reached nearly 22,000 skill assessment.
Due to the fortress challenge energy rewards, I played quite a bit and managed to accumulate 24 RSB after using 30 at the start of the event to complete the first skill in the level 2 tree. I also prestiged two pages to gold in the standard registry that were waiting for me to complete enough fortress challenges and Draco Mallfoy to Bronze, then star that sticky too.
I took a huge hit on potions to do it though. Used all three types of Ex potions in a different mix. Still very short on Snowdrop.
As so many others I also couldn't complete the event due to the lack of Wit-Sharpening Potions. I just returned to the game recently and was excited for the new event, but now I'm very disgeartened und feel unmotivated to continue... : (
The adversaries event has finished now in the UK. It was almost a really great event, but I was unable to complete as couldn't find enough wit sharpening gifts, seemed to be a really low drop rate and as large parts of the UK are locked down again, it made it quite difficult
Something hard is nice to try, but with a hard challenge like the adversaries you know what to expect. **** isn't that fun, but you know how fast one progresses and it is doable during cooking other activities. This is just luck and very much time.
Yesterday I gave up on the wit sharpening, but today I received my second one from a greenhouse. So I tried again, hadn't much time, but the dog was a great excuse to walk another two greenhouses. I gave up again but while absently fortressing I got in the last minutes the third. I hadn't noticed, but when I was cleaning up my gifts I saw another one. Just in time, but I didn't like needing that much luck.
Nice event though. Was able to prestige and collecting a lot of books.
Will there be a make-up for the wit-sharpening problem? I finished every task except that one because no matter how many challenges or adversaries I battled and greenhouses I harvested I kept getting regular gifts all weekend.
I saw my last Adversary 2 minutes before the end of the event today. Has anyone seen an Adversary in the wild post event? I saw several before the event began and was hoping that would continue. 🤞🏻
@LocastaMaple Norwegian Ridgeback is impossible to finish because a big defense and damage, make sure if you more have healing potion and potent exstimulo too.
@Paarseheks Adventure sync has been bugged (not working for a lot of ppl after 2.16 update), if you want the game to count steps have it open when you walk around, and even then it's not a 100% guarantee.

maybe just placebo thou, but ever try greenhouse you never been visit for a long time?
just maybe the greenhouse you frequently visit already "depleted" for gift. 🤨

@Raidengl i just 3 wit sharpen gift one hour in greenhouse but wizarding challenges is hard to find.

Seems fixed. Just saw player get all 3 gifts from 2 greenhouses, in succession, within 30 minutes.
Poor event, Niantic. Great to see new content, but execution was sub-par, yet again.
Disappointed the adversary event is broken. The wit sharpening task is not working!!. Niantic you let us down AGAIN!!!

Can u switch careers? If so, are u able to switch back and forth with regards to the lessons?

Karma! As soon as I opened the game after posting there was a Norwegian Ridgeback waiting for me!! Yay!!! Very happy that EDMs are not the only way.
