Location with 4 Inn's but without any traces.

Hello,

In my neighborhood I have a location that has:

  • 4 Ingress Portals
  • 2 Pokemon Go Gyms and 2 Pokemon Go Stops and a lot of Pokemon's
  • 4 Inn's which is nice for filling up my energy supply but never any traces.

It would be great if there would be traces on this same location. In Pokemon Go the location has a lot of Pokemon's so it looks like the location is not completely lost in time and space. Is there a way to get traces to this location as well?

Greetings,

PrinsHugo

I'll trade you half my traces for half your inns.

    LOL

I'm not sure if this is a true statement, but I read that the trace spawns were a result of activity in the area. The more people play in an area, the more spawns will appear in that area. I know that I currently see a lot more traces around my house than I did a few weeks ago, and I'm assuming it's because I ping the system looking for traces in my area so many times a day. It would seem weird that there are lots of spawns in Pokemon and not in WU...but perhaps there aren't a lot of WU players that are logging into that location. It's just a theory...but it could be a possible explanation.

Interesting you say that @Overflow4487 , I was starting to wonder if the game knew where I lived! Nothing around my house for a few blocks. I can walk in my neighborhood and hardly see a thing. But get within 100’ of my house, and then it’s like the 4th of July on my phone with all the spawns.

Well, I can understand this reasoning, but I have one problem with it. When the gyms were deployed at this location about 2 months ago, I put some Pokemon in them and they stayed in there for about 50 days without anyone even trying to kick them out. Which leaves me with the impression that there is not a lot of activity at this location. But there are a lot of Pokemon spawns.

Perhaps because you’ve been playing there in Pokemon. Maybe after you try playing there in HPWU for a while, you’ll start seeing more in this game. Can’t hurt to try, right?

I think we have to go back to Ingress and look at the XM distribution. There was certainly a lot of activity at intersections and storefronts and places will active cell phone use. This was all before people began playing. One example of a place with a lot of XM, Pokemon and traces is Walmart even though it lacks an inn, greenhouse, fortress or flag.

Pokemon switched it up a little by adding spawning areas in parks and a few other mechanisms like incense.

My experience with HPWU mirrors what's been stated here with the addition of spawns around inns, greenhouses and fortresses. An empty neighborhood perked up when I added inns. As I've repeatedly walked the area returning foundables the traces have started spreading out a little more.

I believe XM distribution was based on WiFi hotspots - or so I was told at the time, @Osprey1 .

As I recall it was density of cellular trafic, not WiFi. You'd always notice clouds of XM around cell phone stores, for example.

How are INN’s and Greenhouse locations picked? Is there a way to request a location?

Yeah, @Osprey1 and @Glimmermir XM is based off of cell traffic and I've seen similar with traces as well. While you can generally find them around the poi's they tend to follow the trend of XM.

@PrinsHugo I am blessed with an epic ton of Inns, Greenhouses and Fortresses in the small town I live in, thanks to our Ingress Forefathers and their desire to have hard to reach throws! I have noted in spots with heavy levels of poi's that traces tend to not spawn as regularly in between them. My two favorite spots both have 3 Inns, a Greenhouse and a Fortress within my circle and even with detectors going I tend to only get Traces on the outer edges. It seems where in POGO close proximity was great for Pokemon its slightly bad for WU. Now this being sad... In the areas where I've found copious Inns surrounding me (a dozen or so) but none in my circle my phone blows up with Traces.

My three favorite places for traces all are churches with only one poi each. two inns one greenhouse and usually have 8 or more traces. My goto for energy has 5 lnns but very few traces. That was one of the issues with community day. Not eneogh traces in areas with multiple poi's.

@Bryonavitch Locations (Inn/Greenhouse/Fortrsss) come from a database of user-submitted points, mostly submitted by players of another Niantic game called Ingress, which has been running for years. In addition, there are sponsored location ssubmitted by business partners like AT&T, Cricket and Simon Malls.

Ingress players of level 10 or higher (and some Pokemon Go level 40 players) can suggest new locaions,. If accepted, they are added to Ingress as a "portal", and later imported by batches into the othert games. What type they come in as is done by an algorithm. Flags seem to be places according to a mapping project called Open Street Map, and I don't know when/how often if those are updated.
