Used up most of my Brilliant Hogwarts for the Holidays runestones to place Filch. He was my fifth image for the bonus page but even after it never counted it as 5.
You have to place 5 images, while on the bonus task. Previously placed images do not count. This has been and will continue to be the case for that task during Brilliant events.

@JubiJones So, you place 4 before the bonus page. That means that you only get credit for the one Filch that you placed. You do not get credit for placing 4, prior to getting to the bonus.
Placing the same image multiple times counts towards the task, but most people plan ahead and do not place any images prior to obtaining the task, to make it easier.

Yes, I was on the bonus page. I clicked on Filch and that did not count as number 5.
