Hi @BocaG It needs to be raining in game for the Azkaban escapee. The irritating bit for me is that I will now see lots of them for the next few months, but zero centaurs.
It rains pretty much every day during this time of year in a Florida, I’ve not seen one in months! Will try to remember to open my app during the rain more!
Remember that it is about the game weather, not actual weather. Where I live, we have really localised weather - there can be clear skies around me but a thunderstorm 5 mins away. But in game, it will show rain.
I’m so glad to know about the rain! I need 2 more Azkaban Escapees in order to prestige my page to silver and I’ve been waiting for MONTHS to get those last 2 fragments.
omg I had no idea that the Azkaban escapes only shows up in the rain. That explains why I haven’t seen one in 6 MONTHS. My whole page is being held up by him, as I only need 3 more. That seems really unfair though, if you live somewhere it almost never rains, like I do. I mean, there’s a good 9 months out of the year that you wouldn’t be able to get this guy. How ridiculous. Any idea what makes the Death Eater come out?

i dont think rain is the only requirement, the other one (hornet serpent) which also rain weather oddities is more reliable to show up than azkaban escapee.
to me azkaban escapee will show up if the other one (death eater) also shows up and vice versa as if the two oddities are linked each other.
and death eather one is more noticeable (orange beam) than azkaban escapee (no beam) so if i found death eater and look around non beam oddities usually i also found azkaban escapee.
I live in an area where it doesn't rain all that often. We finally had rain today, and I was soooo excited to get the final 3 Azkaban Escapee fragments I need in order to prestige that page to gold, but no dice.
And if in-game weather truly is different from the weather around me, I wish they'd program a few rainy days for me!
I have been waiting forever on Azkaban Escapees to prestige that page as well. I haven’t seen one for so long I can’t even remember how long it’s been. Of course, the fact that we are in a record breaking 186 day streak without rain may have something to do with it! 🤣 The previous record was 150.
Same here, I wasn't playing much during the short rainy season so I haven't even gotten the page to bronze yet. So frustrating to get those pitiful little rewards from the 3-headed dogs.
If I'd realized the Azkaban Escapee was only available once a year I might have worked harder to catch them.
It's one thing to have Dragons which are rare and special everywhere, it's another thing to have a page that can only be advanced in certain climates.
I was about to start a new discussion, but found your post. I have not seen him since Nov of 2019. Like you, my registry page is being held up by him. It's really annoying. I figured he'd show up in the fall (particularly Oct as that was when I started seeing him the year before). I saw comments on your post that indicate that they come out in the rain. Well, its rained here in the last year, but I still havent seen him.

Death eaters show up at dusk, night, or dawn during the new moon. I don't think they have a weather requirement.
The escapee definitely shows up during rainy weather, and I think I've seen them at all times of day.
I think your observation that they are likely to arrive together was just coincidence @Kodokmag.
