While Professors need less red spell books than other professions (they need more restricted section books instead), it is not true that they do not need red spell books. To max out you need 320 red and 223 green (430/115 for Auror, 465/115 for Magizoolist).
I was just looking at the profession skill trees today because I have a lot of extra scrolls and wanted to see how many red books I would need. No red spell books showed up for the auror and magizoologist trees either. I guess it’s another bug, but have no idea what will happen if you get to a node that normally requires red books.
Most nodes in the profession skill trees can be trained multiple times. If you haven't learned a particular lesson, you will see the cost for the 1st level of that node. Most of the 1st level lessons only cost scrolls, then the later levels will cost red books as well.
Hi, it's not a bug. Some lessons and nodes may require Scrolls, while the other requires Spell Books or Restricted Section Books. Some require a combination of these resources to upgrade. More information at: Professions. I hope this answers your question.

Reading the responses I conclude it must be a bug that NO red spell books apear in the cost of spells.

I made a post, but it went in to limbo... so simple answer: skills over 2 levels cost Spell Books.
Example: Summer Reading
Level 1 - 7 Scrolls
Level 2 - 7 Scrolls
Level 3 - 7 Scrolls, 2 spell Books
Level 4 - 7 Scrolls, 4 spell Books
