Done: regular task plus bonus task. 3 hours yesterday, 3 hours today and and maybe 1 hour to collect new energy while going to work and shopping. If this can be done in 26 hours, it sure can be done in 7 days. The bonus task could easily be done in 30 Minutes while walking the 1,5 km (plus 4 silver keys) that are required.
I'm with everyone else on this. I've played this game from the beginning with my kids. We have 5 accounts in our family and went to WUFest in Indianapolis that first year. But this event is such a turn off to me. I can not justify the time and spell energy for these poachers and snatchers. I have maxed out aurors, profs, and a magi - and all of them are taking too much to defeat these guys. And you want us to get 350 FXP for task #2? I can't even begin to motivate myself to play this. And last brilliant event, even when I opened portkeys, most of them did not give me FXP, it was a real crapshoot. This is crazy and depressing and that is not why I play this game.
@Gunzar, I like your idea of being able to use old brilliant runestones. They're basically garbage after the event is done, anyway, and as hard as it is to get a bunch of runestones for this new event, that would be a nice thing. I'd throw my old brilliant runestones into a level2 chamber all day to get the FXP I need.
This game was once fun, but this BE seems designed to frustrate players into making in-app purchases. I’m also irritated as there was little to no break between this and the equally grindey WW. It’s getting really hard to justify the time suck this game has become. I’m a maxed prof and have been playing since day one, but recent changes in the game make me feel like they don’t need me to play anymore.
First time forum poster, long time player. These ridiculous family exp requirements are a straight up grind. They have gotten so bad I am seriously considering quitting. This has become a full time job to try to complete these tasks especially from home when these don't spawn very frequently. Even using tonics is not incredibly helpful and the spell consumption makes it even more tedious. Listen to feedback of your fans!
Per @hpwulola "These new Brilliant Encounters will be more challenging than other Oddities. We are reading all your feedback and reporting it to the team. Please continue to let us know your feedback in this thread, thank you."
@Widz Great that you finished the event so quickly. You must have good spawn areas accessible, but your conclusion that it can be easily done in 7 days doesn't take into account variation in player experience by locality and level. If most players were able the knock this event out in that amount of time and effort they would be playing and not complaining. I've spent at over 5 hours in the last 2 days and am still on part two with 137/350 FXP. I live in one of the largest cities in the USA, and brilliant spawns are still sparse in my usual playing areas. I spent today in a smaller city of 50,000. I was on the edge of a park, next to a greenhouse. I had the game open almost all day without seeing a single brilliant spawn. That just doesn't seem reasonable.
I finished the entire event, earlier today. I am down 300 energy. I did not visit any Inns. I didn't use any Silver Keys. I did the entire event from home. I opened 15 porkeys to complete task 2, by using Adventure Sync...
My experience is not the average experience. There is usually good spawns near me. I have been gaming a long time and know how to take advantage of various aspects of games, in order to accomplish goals. I am able to check on my phone every 15 minutes, while at work, so Adventure Sync works in my favor for opening Portkeys. Everything was working in my favor for the event.
With all that said, the event was still a pain and I will not be trying to return any more Brilliant foundables, now that it is done. Many players cannot access the game as often as I can. Many players use strategies that they see on YouTube, which are most often not optimized for their play style and region. Many players live in areas with poor spawn, which also effects the spawns from trace tonics. Energy is also not plentiful in poor spawn areas. Newer players are forced to use even more energy to return the Poachers and Snatchers.
There are so many factors working against the average player, so events like this have a high probability of not being completed. You need to complete events to gain RSB and DADAB. Not completing the events restricts your progress in your skill trees. Not making progress demotivates players. Less motivation increases the likelihood of quitting. People quitting, results in team oriented features like the Knight bus to become more difficult to form teams. So, even if you can complete this event, you are still effected by those that are struggling and becoming demotivated. This is a game that is supposed to encourage team play, but when the game and customer support keeps chasing people away, we are losing that part of the game.
@hpwulola, @HPWURiver, and the rest of the @HPWUTeam; please relay our discontent for the direction that the events have been taking and lack of support to those who have the power to make decisions about these things. If improvements are not made to the game, events, and support; we will just keep losing players. Without our player base, the game will not survive.
It seems like the direction that the developers are taking is to try and force players to spend more money to complete events. Instead, the game should be encouraging the retention of players. Players that enjoy the game are more likely to make in game purchases and feel pleased with their purchase. Players that feel forced to spend money are less likely to stay and pay more. This is a fact: greedy tactics and not listening to the overwhelming complaints of your players will just lead to very short term profits and long term losses.

Has an admin commented at all on this thread? It really seems like they don’t care whatsoever about us and our playing experience. I’ve never been stuck on a particular task for so long so often. I’m a stay-at-home mom and I struggle to get everything done, let alone my family members who are working full-time (from home, remote-learning middle school teachers) who can’t make it through any of the family xp tasks.
Dragons I squash like flies, but those poachers and snatchers are really from a different league. Hopefully they will soon be added to the Oddities pages. Could use some tough red severes...

The new event is the highlight in Niantics constant failure of making enjoyable game content. Its not fun at all, its too much **** and it sucks a lot. In its current state, the game is a boring and uninspired mess.
I have been playing for a year, but I'm just about done. I have a full time job, and I have roughly 1/2 hour to at most 1 hour a day that I can play. I have to balance time between a game and work and family. If I cannot accomplish the tasks in that amount of time, then I simply have to give up the game in favor of life. I didn't finish the Wizarding Weekend because I couldn't justify spending the hours needed, and I was happy about the decision. Now I'm not sure I'll finish this brilliant event which will be the first one that I don't finish since I started playing. My wife and I are just about through here and that is sad. Frankly, it's more than sad, we're somewhat angry about the whole thing.
We really enjoyed the game when we started a year ago, but then it was all fun. Now it just seems like drudgery. More demanding tasks doesn't necessarily mean more fun. For us, it isn't any longer. The only thing that might save it would be if we felt we were making progress towards something, but the story doesn't really move along towards any sort of conclusion. It's just to bad that so much potential in this game was wasted.
For those who have finished the event already, good for you. I saw some of your time estimates. It appears that it will take more resources (real life time) than I want to give it.
This BE is the most boring one to date and is certainly very taxing on the newbies with low damage and low spell counts. How do you expect them to return at least 117 Brilliant Poachers / Snatchers for Task 2 fruitfully during the Covid-19 pandemic (excluding the portkeys)?! My friend is literally struggling to return just a few with the ridiculous 500 and 700 HP!
I'm quite sure that the developer's aim is to increase revenue by getting players to buy Spells and Silver Keys, but you're
1) killing the existing players with ridiculous tasks during the Covid-19 pandemic
2) making it extremely hard for newbies in the game to get their RSB to level up their Combat Tree
After a series of blunders after blunders (with the great Registry disaster and the Trace Charm Proficiency fiasco) and now with this... maybe it's time to hang up my wand for good.
@hpwulola I agree with @Fireyswan - this game has become a job and is no longer fun. What's the point of having a Brilliant Event when hardly any Brilliant traces show up? And the tasks are so badly planned and almost impossible, I'm really considering quitting.
Not to mention that a lot of us are still playing from home, please adjust the spawn rates accordingly. I quit PoGo, hoping that this would be more fun, but it looks like it's headed the same way...
Xp challenges are fine, even in the thousands, because most traces give 50-150 xp, double with a baruffio potion, so 10-20 traces and goal complete. Family xp where each trace gives 3 fxp? Keep the requirement to under 100 or else guarantee family rewards in every challenge chamber and increase spawn rates of traces 50-fold. I also think it’s dumb that a baruffio potion doubles xp but does nothing to family xp.
I just finish this event I have to say it was not fun at all. I also have to say that this is not a stay at home event. I'm able to play around my neighborhood were there are some high spawn rates areas, but this is not the case for many players.
We used to have 3 active accounts in my household. My son quit playing during the green dot fiasco. My wife was not able to finish the last WW event and as soon as she saw part 2/4 she decided she was not doing this one. It will be a matter of days before she decides to quit the game too. For my part, I'm already L60 and not enjoying the game lately. While I'm not ready to quit yet, some things are for sure, no way I will spend any more money on the game and it will be sooner than later when I also decide to quit.
What is the point of having this forum if you’re clearly not reading it??? We have all given you so much repeated feedback and none of it is listened to. I’m about to throw the towel in, which is really disappointing. I’ve been here since day 1, but this is ridiculous and it couldn’t be more clear that you don’t care about the players.
@CeruleanGirl: Well, I would say at least the basic stuff in a BE should not be challenging. And with "basic stuff" I mean getting all images for the registry page (the spider in this case), maybe 10 RSBs and 5 DADA books. Here's why:
BEs are a core element of the game. They provide 3 things:
A new registry page; and the BE is basically the only way to get the foundables to prestige the page.
Stuff you need to develop you skills farther that you can't realistically otherwise (RSBs and now DADA books).
What little this story has is continued only in BEs.
So, once you raise the "challenge" beyond a level that a player is willing to take on, it basically means that he can't progress in the game anymore. This is the main difference to CDs or WWs: If you don't participate in those you don't loose much. Whatever they offer you can get later at your own pace. That is not so for BEs.
I understand that people want challenges, that is what the bonus assignment was conceived for, right? Those can be as hard as you like.
However, keep in mind that what is challenging to one player (due to his level, environment, personal situation, whatever) will be supereasy, barely an inconvenience for the next. It will be pretty hard to find something that will be equally challenging for all player.
PS: I just need 3 more snatchers and I'll be at 4/4, so I'm pretty certain I will be able to complete the event including the bonus tasks soon (TM). I'm more concerned about others that do not have the luxury of being able to check their phone every 30 minutes and do not live on top of an Inn in a high spawn area... Also, having to grind for multiple days is just not fun gameplay.
I am enjoying the thoughtful comments from other players. I have cut back on my play time, since I reached level 60, and green dotted all foundables. I would like to see new pages, with new characters and items from the World of J K Rowling. I would like the promised second tier of profession lessons, and a corresponding increase in the levels of the foetresses. I wouls suggest higher levels of existing pages, such as platinum, emerald, ruby....etc.
And a final plea, please fix the flares. Red, orange, yellow in order of rarity and difficulty.
Wake me up when things get fun again. Some days I don't even return 1o foundables.
How are people completing task2 - I have finally after a lot of work just past 200XP - 150XP to go and that has been since day1. Port keys for me are garbage /trash as so far opened 8 and received 35 total XP so not really helping. If the DEVS (@hpwulola) are listening - at least increase XP from port-keys...
Hey everyone, we understand your feedback about time and energy consumption during Part 1 of the Darkness Rising Brilliant Event. We've made adjustments to the Encounters in Part 2 to improve this experience. Thank you for your feedback and please continue to share your feedback with us.
You are adjusting AFTER people have completed the event? Don't the developers THINK before they release their creations to the world?

Hi
The event foundables keep on leaving while in battle ... They have also been erased from the map afterwards so I can't het back in the battle...
What do I do , is this bug common ?
@Cefrou Could it be connection issues?

I feel fortunate. I opened my first BE portkey and got 45xp. Such a spell energy savings.

It is enough for stand with the response of HPWU team.
you fool our player again and again, never attach important to us ,such a despicable behaviour.
Every updates will bring new bugs and make the game worse. Never inquire about players opinion, always ignore our demands .
The pandemic hasn't over. There are many country still suffering severely, but you made a worst decision of raising the difficulty of the event.
I will quit HPWU because of your imprudent plan and disrespect to players.
The fact that there is no reaction from the team to all these complaints says all: you really don't care.

Thank you for taking the player feedback into consideration @hpwulola . Most appreciated!
