I have to disagree to some extent. Question is what "completing the event" means. There are different goals that a player can have during a BE. The most basic one is to fill out the registry page related to the BE because this is still the core of the game and it is something that you can't do later. And yes, I think this is something that a casual player with a level 1 account and without any knowledge about upcoming tasks should be able to do.
We can argue about what the time frame there is, but there are likely a lot of players that can't play on certain days and maybe only 30 minutes to 1 h per day anyways, so this brings us to - say - 4 to 6 hours maybe.
Players that play a lot and like the challenge... Well, that is what the bonus assignments are for, right? However, the trend over the past BEs was basically that the regular tasks (that you need to fill out the registry page) got grindier (is that a word?), while the bonus tasks were kept on the same level, so effectively I felt they were rather easy to complete compared with the standard tasks. This is backwards.
What I would suggest would be:
Complete the event after step 2 (instead of +2 and +3 RSB, it should be +5/+5 and move the spider and the DADA books from 4/4 to the second task). At that point you'd get the "Thank you, you completed the BE" message. Combine the tasks of 3/4 and 4/4 to a first round(1/2) of bonus tasks for +5 RSB, 1250 XP, 50 coins. Then have current bonus tasks as 2/2 of bonus tasks. There, fixed!
...and whoever thought it would be a good idea to put the encounters to 500/700 HP should be forced to complete the event with a lvl 1 account, without being able to leave the house. Good luck!
Ok so rant going to happen you have been warned so on the back of the last challenge that used all my potions to complete they give us darkness rising with no chance to reuild our stock . On top of this new foundables which are near impossible to defeat even if you had potions and eat through spells like there is no tomorrow for very little reward 3 family XP!!!!!. You need 350 just for second part as most foundables take a min of 6 spells that means 700 spells just for that one part alone play fair please. If anyone knows how to get family xp quicker please let me know
This event kills the fun with the game. So much **** and time consuming tasks as never seen before. I play the game since day 1 but this event is not worth playing it. There are people who don‘t have the time to play 10 hours a day.
@Kazkay : Portkeys will help greatly; also, don't place the images in the registry. If you are at 20/20, you get 4 FXP for each additional foundable (instead of only 5 FXPs you get for placing the image).
I used a trace potion yesterday but zero brilliant foundables spawning... hopefully better luck today.
maybe the opportunity to inform one of my frustrations since the beginning of the game: why don’t dragons do way more damage in their attack? I would expect them to do some serious damage and get multiple hits (like the 3 headed doggies) from the firey cloud... instead of the 4 damage points one-hit they do now. That would be more in line with the graphics and epicness of dragons. It would also finally give me some use of those healing potions... don’t need them anywhere else for now thanks to some friendly neighborhood magis in the fortress battles.
unlike these poachers and snatchers that seem to be more powerful while barely waving their arms 😁.
@Serrena the RNG that may or may not drop the BE foundable is why some players use the strategy of playing BE runestone in upper dark chambers. Particularly D5, with 5 teammates if your team wins it is a guaranteed drop.
Coincidental observation -ruines chambers 3 to towers 1 have shown more frequent drop than upper Tower and Forrest chambers.
I played yesterday for a total of 3.5 hours, used 3 TTD and was able to collect 145/350 family XP using over 850 energy. This is just ridiculous. I should add that I'm a maxed out Auror and Level 60.
Since the event has begun I haven’t seen a single parcel of Spell Energy on the ground let alone an erumpent horn.
I am on part two and am at 27/350 brilliant family XP after using two TTD’s. I personally don’t like to speed through events as I like to take my time and enjoy the events but this is back-breaking. The amount of spell energy required to get 3 brilliant FXP is ludicrous!! And TTD only brings in maybe 5-7 brilliant traces. So how is this a complete able task? At this rate I would need around 20-25 TTD’s and I don’t have that and I refuse to spend my real money on this game for potions, ingredients, or spell energy.
@hpwulola please PLEASE please ask the devs to put spell energy on the ground and erumpent horns. Please!
I am a day one player and maxed out auror and magizoo and hate to think of not completing an event but this may be the first one I can’t complete with being stuck at home with a very sick child.

Folks have already said most of what needs to be said. For what it’s worth, I was fortunate enough to be able to solve task #2 by burning 9 silver keys (plus gold key) on a full bank of portmanteaus and going on a 1.5km walk around a few blocks. By the 8th portkey, I crested over the 350FXP.
This solution will not work for many players, either due to resource (silver key) restraints, the inability to leave home, or both. Unfortunately, that leaves those players up a creek, as the alternative solutions require far too much spell energy to be viable without a large increase to the rate of spell energy spawns AND at least doubling the FXP per brilliant Foundable, or halving their stamina. Making those changes would result in at least approaching parity with the demands of past brilliant events.
As stands, it appears very little consideration was given to newer players, whose resources can’t pace the event’s demands, or to the pandemic that will limit players’ options in order to protect the public health. That’s a pretty distasteful combination of rude and downright irresponsible, folks.
If your company has decided that they no longer want to invest in this game, which recent events might lead one to suspect, simply announce an end-of-life of your app. Making completing critical game components so challenging that eventually no one can complete them (or can’t do it without being unsafe), until everyone just quits...all that does is make them not install your next app in the first place. Food for thought.
Just curious why the event foundables are spawning so rarely. I've seen literally two today without a tonic on - and with the tonic I only picked up 12 (7 poacher and 5 snatcher). At this rate I'm going to have to use ~10 tonics to get enough to clear 350 family XP. Why are these oddities (the strongest oddities in the game) only giving 3 fxp to return? This is not at all fun - and it's surprising this isn't mirroring the dragon weekend where the oddities were plentiful and the dragons were much easier to return.
@hpwulola , have you guys even played the game? I don't get how this keeps happening unless this is active punishment for complaining about the trace charm. Though congrats, this is infinitely worse than the trace charm situation so most people have forgotten about that. Great job! :)
I've not completed and quit on a brilliant challenge BUT this one is likely going to break that chain - impossible to get darkness rising xp - 3 per catch:
to get runestone - need 40, so basically 13 of either to get runestone to get 1/3 chance of getting 10 Xp
3 port keys opened - maybe unlucky but only 5 XP in total - so this is out of question
to just use catches of brilliant - 3XP per... that means 116 catches, and with average energy of 5-10 per catch and barely any energy appearing on map (went from 340 down into 100's and I've barely got 45XP)... we are going to burn through over 1000 spell energy which is unbelievable!
I know you guys want to make it harder to complete and I'm sure some will complete but with this near impossible challenge need SO MUCH time commitment - I'm likely out... and if I quit this... I'm likely to also QUIT the game...
You have to make these challenges doable with responsible commitment.. cannot expect folks to spends hours daily... this is a background task and with increasing lockdown in parts of the world, we cannot get out so easily to give supplies needed to complete the ever increasing difficulty.
A frustrated player, I am.... maybe soon a non-player... make it fair!

@Madgrin - glad you are having better success with port-keys. Maybe they tweaked something but 3 yesterday yielded 5XP in total. I was hoping maybe portkeys would help but unless they changed something... not going to help at ALL.
Just opened two more - 10XP between the two. So I wish I was more lucky but for me port keys are not a solution for me. Especially now that I am running out of silver keys ..
@HalloMami My response to @Fireyswan was in regards to their statement that completing a Brilliant Event should only take 3 1/2 - 4 hours, which I still do not believe to be true. Brilliant Events should and do take longer than that to complete. If they could be easily finished with 30 to 35 minutes of daily play, that would be no challenge at all.
This, of course, is not a statement on whether completing the current Brilliant Event as it is is possible or not. Unfortunately, the play-at-home aspect seems to be broken, making it unfair to those who are stuck at home. That’s a whole other issue.
So when the event states that it was designed for us to play wherever we are, it just meant for users who live in urban areas. Is that correct @hpwulola ? Because there is NO way anybody who lives in a rural area without inns and ingredients to pick up on the map could finish this event - unless they have no job and can drive into a city and spend all day there just playing this game. I have never complained about an event before, but people in rural areas just don't have enough SE or TFTD ingredients to get this done in a week. The number of brilliant foundables appearing with the potion is atrocious and will never result in enough family XP just to get past the 2nd set of challenges......maybe the game should be changed to "CityWizardsUnite". I understand you are trying to make things more challenging for those who do live in areas where map items come readily, but you have killed the game for those of us not in those regions.
Since the last update, I can't even play the game in my own "town" (1 inn, 2 greenhouses) because the location doesn't work correctly anymore. I have to drive out to the next town to get any kind of ingredient or SE. Have you ever been in a rural town where the people don't know you? I promise, you would spend the min amt of time needed there.
The events have become so frustrating and with them back to back to back to back, the game just isn't fun anymore.
There is no point in commenting your issues on here.. they literally don’t even read them and don’t value you enough as players to even respond. This game has become big joke the devs are playing on YOU
This event is an absolute chore. No fun at all. Not play at home friendly in any way so if you’re stuck at hope you have no hope if completing this ridiculous event. Good luck Wizards and Witches. I think they’re making the point of this game for us all to Unite against the developers lol
Ok, now that we have some "attention" and some pretending of "care" from @hpwulola in this post, I want to say a couple of things.
1.- in whose head came up the BRILLIANT idea of the event foudables to give only 3exp when retrieving them? It's just TOO LITTLE
2.- Why don't we get regular exp when leveling up the BRILLIANT pages or white scrolls?
3.- How come I spent MORE SPELL ENERGY as a complete Auror in retrieving the BRILLIANT Poacher and the Snatcher than when I retrieve the THREE-HEADED Dog which is the highest oddity to retrieve, and it has one of the best rewards. I mean, the brilliant ones are just RIDICULOUSLY HARD TO RETURN and the rewards are MISERABLE.
4.-The 350 brilliant exp should be placed on the 4th page of requirements to complete the events or even in the EXTRA one or not exist AT ALL.
Why do I say #4? Well:
A. - The amount of exp given by the foundables is too small which makes the number of foundables to retrieve exorbitant.
B. - The regular spawn is incredibly low in my country (which you should increase, I usually have to work harder than players in other regions to complete things in the game), so, no sightings of the events foundables.
C. - I thought that the TTD would be the solution because I have improved it with the SOS training, but God **** it, I thought wrong, from 5 TTD I only got 10, yes, TEN, brilliant foundables, it's just disappointing.
D. - Well, maybe I should go out and maybe I'll see more of them...oh...no, wait, MY CITY IS STILL UNDER LOCK DOWN, so much for a play-from-home game.
Now back to the main comments
5.-I also thought of applying the Trace Charm to one of the brilliant foundables, guess what? Only increased the exp to 5...oh, I'm amazed with that extremely high amount of exp dropping - please note sarcasm-
6.- I'd recommend some of your development team members to try the game, and experience the TERRIBLE GAME that you have been creating, it used to be so nice and enjoyable, now it's just frustrating and discouraging.
7.-Please, cut all **** and come clean, say what the **** is going on, if you need to shut down the game to repair bugs and launch new and improved features, DO SO, BUT PLEASE, you set a very high bar for the game, and now it's just lame.
8.-Whomever is in charge of the designation of exp has no bloody idea of how the game works.
I know I won't get any answer, bc there's no real interest, but well, I've said my piece.

I don’t want to be a complainer but the recent weekend event and this current event have been/are awful. I am speaking up as an ex-PoGo player (and I played pretty much every day for nearly 4 years!). I had to stop playing because it became a combination of boring and impossible. I feel like HPWU is headed down the same path.
You should add a feature where you can turn old runestones into the current brilliant event ones.... that way maybe its at least POSSIBLE to get 350 family XP without having to spend 6-10 spell energy on the Poacher/Snatcher for a measly 3 FXP. such an absurd event & i have a strange feeling Part 2 of this event will not be any better.

@C4tmonster - sorry to hear about that rotten luck. I had one 10, most 20-30, and two over 40, which are obviously the “lucky” case. I also didn’t mention I’d done the first 150 or so FXP “the hard way” using up most of my energy and decided to see if the portkeys worked better. They are tragically RNG-dependent, though.
I wanted to follow up my post with 2 more observations/suggestions.
If you want to maximize your gains of FXP from Brilliant Foundables, do NOT place them. Normally when you place things in the registry, the FXP works out in your favor, but this is NOT true for the Brilliant ones that appear on the map. You get 5 FXP for placing them, yes, but if you don’t place them you get 4 FXP for each one you return instead of 3. So unless you’re nearly done, it’s better to hold off and keep returning them. Example: (20 x 3) + 5 = 65. (20 x 4) = 80. You will have to click place image each time, and just X out. It’s obnoxious, but it saves a lot of time (and spell energy, in this case).
For Aurors looking to maximize their SOS tree, assuming you have maxed out your damage nodes for combat, if you take all ranks of increased effectiveness for the Strong stim potion, your opening crit (if it happens) will one-shot the poachers, and should reduce the snatchers to 25 stamina. Still no love (and ‘wasted’ charges) on non-crit openers, and on the last 25 stamina of snatchers (though you can run and use your charges on other things nearby and the snatcher will still be at 25 when you click it again, assuming it doesn’t despawn). Alas, this of course doesn’t help non-Aurors, or newer Aurors, but there it is.
Feedback so far: the amount of resources required to get a very minimal amount of family XP is making this event Not Fun. I'm a maxed-out Auror too. The disproportionate amount of effort and resources required for so little reward has me losing interest rapidly. I've never not finished a brilliant event, but it seems someone is out to make this impossibly hard to complete. I can't devote multiple hours per day to the game, which is what the family XP requirements seem to demand. The weekend event gave me no usable traces from TTDs, the fortress rewards were locked and useless, and now this brilliant event is requiring a huge number of resources for tiny gains.

@CeruleanGirl , re your response to @Fireyswan :
Good luck!
The brilliant foundables grant incorrect family XP.
Without the max-segment bonus, each returns 3XP.
But both are listed as 5XP foundables on the page.
@OwlSoul That is what you get for placing the image, not for returning the foundable.
@OwlSoul 5 fxp is the reward for placing these images on the registry page.
"earn rewards each time an Image is completed"
Ok so rant going to happen you have been warned so on the back of the last challenge that used all my potions to complete they give us darkness rising with no chance to reuild our stock . Ok I must be missing something.
When did BE become challenges and extra hard?
I thought BE were extra content for completing character tree with restricted section books as reward so we could max out our chosen profession.
Now DADA books are included in BE.
5 DADA for completing BE
5 DADA for completing BE bonus
How is there an end game if tasks are to hard to complete?
Some of the SOS tasks require 70 DADA books!! Not to mention others take 20 or more!!
At this rate end game is years away !!!
I am not sure I will stick around and find out.
If I run across anything else of note, I’ll post.
