"Reporting it to the team"?!?!? The team doesn't care @hpwulola, as evidenced by last week's event, and what they are doing this week too. Sorry, but I don't believe they care about feedback.
Entry level player requires 10 SE per foundable. Starting energy cap is 75, unless you pay money to increase. Unless you're perched upon an inn (as some people are in quarantine), the event is already impossible to complete. Hows that for feedback?
BOTTOM LINE: STOP ADVERTISING THIS AS A PLAY FROM HOME EVENT WHEN IT ISN'T FEASIBLE TO PLAY FROM HOME....
The difficulty of these briliant oddities is ridiculous. I have an auror maxed (thankfully) and it stil takes so much energy. And the rewards? Realy? 700 stamina for 3 FXP and 50 XP? Really? And possibly no field guides? 350 FXP in second set alone wil take what? At least 600 energy? And what about professors? And what about new players (if the game even has any)? @hpwulola please do tell the team that this is higly unbalanced.
@hpwulola Congrats on making another event that will be nearly impossible for many players.
Poarcher takes up to 6 hits for a maxed out Professor, 5 for a maxed Auror.
Snatcher takes up to 8 hits for a maxed out Professor, 7 for a maxed Auror.
Both award 50 exp and 3 fxp.
Task 2/4 required 350 fxp. That is 117 foundables returned. Subtract 5fxp for ever 20, since you get that for placing an image and it will still take 110 foundables to be returned. 110 foundables will consume at least 550 energy.
You won't have a lot of Runestones to be trying to get lucky and get 10fxp from challenges, since this is a part 1. Many people still can't move around much, thanks to the pandemic, so opening Portkeys is also limited.
It will take many people a week, just to complete the second task, then they will have 2 more tasks and a bonus left.
Now... imagine a newer player trying to do the event. They might be able to take out a couple poachers, before their energy is completely drained.
From my previous post, I am changing a few things...as this just drove the possibility of any new player from continuing...
A few observations from the past two events: WB doesn't care about getting feedback from their customers, and they similarly must not care about their employees either. Unhappy customers will complain to WB employees, tagging them in forums incessantly and making customer-facing jobs that much harder. Hopefully the hardcore players are sufficient to pay salaries and continue working on features bugs to implement. The Wizard Weekend all but cemented the fact that the people who make the decisions about the game are attempting to develop a mono-modal distribution of players: (1) Hard-core that will continue playing and/or paying regardless of what they do, and (2) Players just curious about the game and may put a few bucks in to try making faster progress. Having worked for a game developer before, this business model isn't sustainable. I've told multiple friends to avoid the game, or if they do play, to not put any money in the game (citing at least FIVE major issues that WB attempted to remedy with an inferior resolution). WB is treating this game and it's customers like something you'd see in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares by driving it into the ground and not paying attention to customers, whilst simultaneously thinking all is well.
I don't understand the wisdom behind the second assignment.
My impression was always that the first four assignments were doable (for me) in about two hours (L60 now, all non-gated SOS, two finished professions). After 35 minutes walking outside doing the second assignment, I have about 100 BFXP, half of which came from a portkey. Energy is about break even, I'm rather lucky with lots of cafes and teashops in the vicinity.
In short, this single assignment will take about the same time as four normal assignments would, as runestones come in very slowly, so the fortress will not earn me many BFXP, as I lack the means.
After a rather brutal WW, I sincerely doubt the wisdom behind programming a second hard event a day later.
So we will have to capture 20 for the bonus assignment and even more for the other parts of the tasks. @hpwulola will there be more spell energy on the map so we can capture all of these required traces? Or am I over-thinking it??
I understand the need to make the game more challenging, etc. But at some point, it becomes ridiculous, especially when the rewards do not commensurate with the effort being put in.
The snatcher requires 7 hits for a maxed Auror and only returns 50 wxp and 3 fxp. One thing to make it more difficult to return, but another to make the rewards so disproportionally lower than the efforts put in. I am a Level 60 player, max Auror and over 40K in SOS level. I will likely complete the event.
However, I am not sure if it a relatively new player will be able to complete or will continue playing this game. As a huge fan of the HP franchise and someone who has devoted time and money to this game, I had hope that this game will be around for a while. At the current stage, my hope diminishes everytime another event rolls around and I see the mistakes that the developer of this game makes.
Thanks for this great event. I'm used to finish the regular tasks the first day and the bonus taskt the next day. This time it is going to take longer and as somebody who got to level 60, that makes playing the game more fun for a few days. And no, I'm not going to pay real money for energy, I just collect more free energy tomorrow.
You people are dense in the head...or just don't care if you keep players! I know I am not alone in my frustration with way too many events with the ensuing glitches and each new event seems to punish the players with absurd amounts of family XP and wizarding XP. I abandoned the community event straight off and was about to call it quits then decided to check out this newest brilliant event despite my better judgement...got to step 2 and you only reinforced my judgement 10 fold. Do you people actually see what it takes in both time and energy...and saying you can do from home absurd! On top of that the reward is no where near fair for the work required! I just spent nearly 2 hours and barely found the 10 brilliant poachers for step 1...and to accomplish further steps and God forbid the bonus you hobble the player to make it more difficult to get those xp or from what others say just getting lucky with portkeys or battles...that just doesn't reward the player NOT NICE! SO I GIVE UP! It's a game not a lifes work!
Yeah...this is ridiculous. Running through SE like crazy. Also, to speak to the requests for more SE spawns....on my one trip out today to collect, it appeared there was LESS than usual available. Additionally, it even feels like non-brilliant foundables have had their catch difficulty increased. I’m so tired of having to make 3 masterful casts in a row to catch a low-level threat foundable. Still haven’t fixed multiple bugs...the list just goes on and on.🤦🏼♂️
This event is going to be impossible for newer players to complete. I'm a maxed professor but playing as a nearly maxed auror because of the difference in damage and it is still taking insane amounts of energy for me to return these. Newer players who aren't maxed won't be able to do this, thereby making them less likely to play
@hpwulola - please PLEASE please ask the team to put more spell energy on the map as well as erumpent horns. I am completely home bound due to Covid and a sick child and this new event is going to cost 100’s of spell energy and even more TTD’s. I am lucky to find one erumpent horn a day on the ground and with the WW I used up more then a dozen TTD so I desperately need to brew more.
Also, just my two cents...while I appreciate a new challenge in any way this event with the poachers and snatchers may be a little much. Last year when the poacher appeared, once he was defeated then rare oddities would appear (if I recall correctly). But it is taking some people between 5-7 SE to conquer them and newer players I would imagine it would be between 10-20 so I am not certain what Niantic is trying to accomplish but this is not fun nor challenging. It makes this event with the emphasis on catching so many of the brilliant foundables and WXP darn near impossible and certainly not fun. Especially when I would guess half of the player base is stuck at home. How is this achievable? I just used a TTD for part one to get 10 Poachers and got 5. I could use a second TTD but my supply is running low from trying to get the Voldemort portraits and since there is never erumpent horns on the ground. I just don’t understand the logic behind this event with trying to make your players happy after what was an awful WW. So take it for what it’s worth...just my opinion.
This is even more players unfriendly event then those before. There is no chance to finish the event with playing at home just as it advertised in the description of the event. For new players it will be impossible to finish the event. And especially new players needs RSB to advance in the game and have it more playable and enjoyable. So by this setup of the event they are just saying we do not want new players.
Is it just imposible to play from home, brillant event foundable appears a few , so you need to use trace tónic but does not has ingredient as dragón horn, is just pointless, the game is NOT TO PLAY AT HOME, please do not days anymore this is from home edition, is just do not. We need more ingredient, a knigth bus to green house, show more spawn of the brillant event with out potion. We need a lot of XP to pass the task. Thank you
The rewards for this event don't match the ridiculous effort. If the brilliant XP was 5-10 instead of 3, it would be a lot better.
The other brilliant event with oddities was amazingly fun, this so far has been painful.
I get that a percentage of the player base wants more challenging tasks and events. The events should be feasible for new and casual players though as well. If it takes a hardcore player longer than a day to finish the event, there is no way anyone else can finish in a week. Let alone the bonus.
Please inform us if the tasks are going to continue in this way. It is taking the fun out of the game and just making it a grind.
If there are reasons behind the design of the tasks and the large amount of spell casts to defeat the brilliant foes, it would be lovely to try to understand the logic.
With Pokemon Go, the research tasks made me a better and more thoughtful player. What are the benefits the developers are trying to encourage?
I was looking forward to fighting some foundables in this event. Never dreamed as a maxed Auror it would be taking 5 hits to down a Poacher 7 hits to down a Snatcher. Spell energy looks less available, too. After a couple hours and only 5 Poachers collected I'm pretty discouraged. If it doesn't get better I might just go read some books instead. I don't want a repeat of the last weekend.
This game has stopped being fun. Yeah some of us finish events in a few days because that's how long we have to dedicate to a game that is supposed to be fun, not a second job. The requirements for step 2 are insane. Why not move the more difficult steps to the bonus so those who have a ton of extra time can complete or not instead of the middle discouragingly players.
So frustrating... high number of spell energy is required to return brilliant foundables, yet no spell energy is spawning. I’ve seen 2 in the past 4 hours. This is getting ridiculous.
This morning I made my weekly trip to closest densely populated area (thus high Covid risk) with inns and greenhouses and stocked up on energy thinking it would last me at least a couple of days. At this rate, I will have to make multiple trips daily or quit altogether.
Please, please, please increase the Spell Energy on the map.
Comments
Ok after playing some of this brilliant event...
Its designed to suck your spell energy!!!!
Only 50 xp for defeating either snatcher or poacher both should give more exp. Imo
"Reporting it to the team"?!?!? The team doesn't care @hpwulola, as evidenced by last week's event, and what they are doing this week too. Sorry, but I don't believe they care about feedback.
Let me do some basic math:

BOTTOM LINE: STOP ADVERTISING THIS AS A PLAY FROM HOME EVENT WHEN IT ISN'T FEASIBLE TO PLAY FROM HOME....
Like i said
Unattainable goals
It isn't just the amount of spells per poacher or snatcher, I want to know how the task says ive caught 4 poachers but I've got 6 in the registry.
@MotherOf2Lions
Your getting 75xp ?
Im a max out prof... only getting 50xp per poacher or snatcher.
Wonder why.

They must want us to spend money on potions...

@Hew1216
Potions unfortunately are not helping much.. or at least the lower ones. Haven't tried potent ... I only have a few of those.

what damage does maxed Magi (not crit)?

Sorry, that was with my Brain Elixir. Without, I am also just getting 50.
@SoulPowerX

Have seen two SE since event started
