How to Make the most of Brilliant Events?

I am pretty new to WU just 2 weeks and I wasn't in the beta. What is the best ways to get the most out of Brilliant Events? What should I be doing each day other than the normal daily and SOS tasks? How do I get the restricted books?
Basically all the tips I can get for a newbie.

they already ran this exact event during the beta so if you search online you can find a list of tasks to complete in case you want to go in prepared. basically you'll be given event specific tasks to complete within 7 days. these will be different from the dailies, but you'll know exactly what to do to get all the event awards. save up some portkeys to open during the event.
Existing already walked portmanteau don't count towards unlocking them during the event. Save your 2km portmanteau to walk during the event.
If you're running low on SE save it for event foundables. They will be plentiful anyway.
Grind as many family XP levels as you can as each level awards a runestone and 5 scrolls.
