So disappointed with the change. TC made me search for a red beam. Sos was exciting and revitalized the game. Now there is no point. No excitement anymore. Aren’t games suppose to be fun?
It was too good to be true. However, the fix has really taken the excitement out of the game. What if a low percentage of TCs still has the full clone effect of all traces?What if that percent of TC’s could be increased via SOS lessons? Or, if you created different kinds of TC’s:1. rare, 2. all of one family, 3. emergency only, 4. quadruple family XP etc.
The TC is incredibly exciting. Please bring it back to life with nuance and strategy. It has incredible potential for the game and inspires many of us to play and pay. Thank you for your work, and thank you for your consideration,
Disappointment after disappointment... 3 events in a row being kicked into the restart login loop, having every player get a “Sorry” pack that was pretty sorry. Rolling out new features that hadn’t been tested only to have them revoked AFTER players spent HARD earned DADA & RSB on lessons to expand their skills is really unfair. I’m remembering why I took a hiatus in the spring.
I realize that the TC as it was was overpowered, but it made me want to play! I am level 59, I am dragging my feet to keep from reaching 60 because I don't really see much else to do after that. I have all my registry pages gold and I am finishing up my wands and a couple of other fortress pages. Once I get to 60, what else is there to do? None of the XP SOS trainings help. I have easy access to inns and greenhouses, so those charms are not really needed. I can (and have) worked on the departure denial and potion improvements (very good), but mostly I have worked on the Trace Charm because it was awesome! I was playing 2-5 hours a day, and now I am going out only to use my Trace Charms - I don't to lose them and they were fun to do! There are plenty of foundables around me so having the Trace Charm bring regular stuff is useless to me. IF this TC had been marketed as a way for rural players to get more foundables, I would have said fine with the new version. But it was given as a lesson for everyone and it was great! If you knew it was wrong immediately, you should have said something then. Why wait a month? IF you told us, we messed up, here is what it is supposed to be - enjoy it while it lasts, you would have much less angry players. Please reconsider.
Since getting the trace charm, I've been renting a cauldron around the clock to give me the potions I need to take full advantage of it. I've been watching my gold decrease, trying to time the rate, considering buying more gold so that I can keep brewing...
I certainly don't need to buy any gold, now. I won't need potents to quickly catch slugs, that's for sure.
I am extremely disappointed in the way you have disrespected loyal players of this game....I have played from day one....I’m 62 years old and provide care for my 86 year old mother....this game was a way for me to pass the time and I spent real money on it every week....I live in an area that has almost no spawns without using a potion and very little spell energy to be picked up.....so if I wanted to progress in the game I had to spend real money....I am a level 52 maxed Professor.....but there were serious gaps in my ability to prestige pages to gold because of almost no severe or emergency traces spawning.....the trace charm was a Godsend for players like me....I spent valuable books and guides that took me forever to accumulate..I chose to spend my resources on the trace charm path because of misleading information that you gave out for WEEKS....for something that is basically worthless now....you should refund every last Green book, field guide, SOS manual, and DADA book for all of us who foolishly took you at your word....I won’t make that mistake again and I certainly won’t be spending another dime on this game until you get your act together....
It is disappointing that you fixed an issue that was actually working great as far as the majority were concerned. I looked forward daily to go find a red spawn so I could get more books to fill out my sos tree because at the rate y’all are giving us books it my take my entire lifetime. Please unfix your fix

Niantic, you have remove a useful game mechanic I enjoyed.
Furthermore many of us have invested heavily into a feature that has been horribly nerfed. I don't want a bunch of additional common traces, we already have plenty of tools for obtaining common traces from dark detectors to trace tonics.
I propose a compromise. Allow the additional traces to be random, but please allow the random additional traces to be the same threat level as the trace that we used the trace charm on.
For example:
Use trace charm on Dumbledore (Red Flare):
Get one additional Dumbledore revealed (Red Flare),
Get additional random red flare traces revealed (Number depending on trace charm upgrades)
You gave us something fun, and you took it away. Even if you consider it a bug, don't take away the things we love. Maybe test your game before rollout and also fix the other loads of glitches in the game instead.
I am a loyal player. That absolutely loves this game but considering over the past few weeks with the constant problems. Then to “fix” the bug that everyone was actually used to or enjoying the game with Will in my opinion completely drive people away. Some players are hanging on by a thread and your going to change something that was actually making people want to play. The trace charm recharge was already hard to bare as it is. Please re consider changing the trace charm back to the Spawns being either the same level or the same spawn. Players saw this as a way to get guides and manuals. Now they feel D.A.D.A. And RSB books were wasted on the trace charm. If PkGo can get a change with a new feature within a week. I think we deserve something in return. People have put so much work into the skill trees and now they fill like they hit a wall and don’t know what to do.
There are lots of players who have pretty much finished most or all aspects of the game. Challenge and family registry all gold pages except for dragons, gold achievements completed, level 60, maxed one or more professions and now SOS training is only blocked by DADA books.
To take away the Trace Charm like this takes away the ONLY fun in the game anymore. Everyone who invested precious green restricted section books now feel robbed because of this. Any free complimentary packs is simply a dismissal of our feelings because it does not reflect the amount of time and resources spent on upgrading the tree.
This game is going to lose a lot of players if this continues. There is no challenge in the game anymore, there is no creativity, there is nothing new to keep the game fun.
I too spent most of my skill tree books to boost several of the traces. Now it seems I would have been better off skipping all iof those. Kind of wasted.
I have spent a good deal of time playing lately largely because the trace charm was quite fun. This includes **** through quite a bit of the SoS training and purposely spending a lot of limited resources specifically to get to trace charm improvements. The fact the charm has worked one way since the systems launch that until very recently was fine with your company and is now a bug to be fixed is insulting. My assumption is you did not like the rate at which players were consuming the available content and decided to considerably slow it down. That's not fun or engaging game play that's how you make the lifespan of your game a good deal shorter when you alienate the majority of your top end players who help drive interest in your product. Not only that - you rolled it out a day before another event I'm sure quite a few people had been specifically preparing for significantly lowering the hype around your own plans. You've absolutely killed my interest in playing for the moment until this is resolved. I realize my post is largely negative and I hate to complain without offering solutions so let me offer some suggestions.
Please don't send out a "We messed up" package with random items to make up for it, a misstep of this magnitude needs actual correction.
Consider either reverting the "fix" or changing it to be largely close to how effective it already was. It's the sole reason myself and I'm sure quite a few other people started playing more. I actually want this game to be good but it needs more features and killing one of the only fun one's is a very bad idea.
Refund every ones SoS trees if you have no intention of reverting this change as we put a lot of time and effort into something that's no longer worth even using.
Do either 2 or 3 as quickly as humanly possible before your games player base moves on.
A fundamental lack of understanding of your player base this large shouldn't have ever been allowed to go live, I'd highly recommend taking a closer look at changes like this in the future before green lighting them. QA has been pretty questionable as of late.
If this is the intent, what is the point of all the trace charm upgrades? All the proficiency and efficiency updates are completely useless now. No one needs one more useless low level spawn. Why would they spend 6600 field guides and 1800 ministry manuals for that. Or 100 DADA books for the last one. This is totally rediculous.
Please change it back. The game was getting stale before the SOS update. The trace charm was the only thing from that update that made me want to play the game. I wanted to play just for the chance to use my trace charm on something good (high rarity trace). Now... not sure what to do with my mobile gaming time. HPWU is not that fun anymore.
It seems like you write one thing, then change your minds and nerd the feature to downgrade it and players waste a lot of time and resources upgrading a part of the game There is no clear communication on what is expected and how to okay the game. It has the appearance that when something is going well in the game the developers need it to make it worse. At least have the trace charm reveal the same level foundable you place the trace charm on not generate lower level foundables. It makes the trace charm a different form of trace dectection but under a different name and more expensive in game resources and is fraud.
I think if the intent was to have random traces i.e. from different families, that is fine. However, we were under the impression that rarity should be on par or higher (with the SOS skill "Knowledge is Power") .
The changes do not reflect this at all, with people getting normal rarity traces by using the trace charm on emergency traces.
So disappointed in this turn of events. If this was a “bug” why are we just now hearing about it? If you thought it worked too well, at least have the respect for those of us who put a fair amount of time and money into the game to be honest.
Instead, you sent us all off on a wild goose chase, using our resources to complete SOS skills that would lead to more benefit from the Trace Charm. That was wasted too. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am that you have chosen to take this action.
If you guys arent going to give us the 4 fragmnets we trained for we want our books back we spent getting the SOS talent for....and this trace charm update/ patch you put in just sucks...put it back...NOW!!!

I’m all for it not creating 5 or 6 of the exact same foundable. But the foundables it creates should be of the same threat level. For example, if I use it on a red beam Minerva McGonagall, I’d be okay if it spawned 1 Tom Riddle, 1 Dumbledore, 1 Hagrid, 1 Harry Potter, and 1 Fluffy. Those are all the same threat level. What doesn’t make sense is for me to use it on Minerva and for it to create 5 random foundables, most of which are common and on the map anyway. The point of it, or at least I thought the point of it, was to increase the ability to find rare spawns.
The changes have made it less helpful than using a dark detector or Tonic for Trace Detection. And to “correct” it after people have invested lots of FGs, MMs, RSBs, and DADAs to maximize it is sort of a slap in the face. People spend money on resources to be able to earn those currencies. They wouldn’t have spent the money if they knew that the end goal was useless. This is like the third time that major mishaps have occurred in the past few months. And Niantic keeps giving out these complimentary gifts of much lesser value to try to apologize.
If things like this keep happening you’re gonna **** off the wrong player and they are going to end up finding a lawyer that will launch a class action lawsuit on behalf of all the players. I can tell you now that if one was started I’d absolutely opt in. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars over the last few months with the pandemic. And I have enjoyed doing it. But I haven’t enjoyed the fact that you keep retconning things to suit your own purpose.
Fix whatever is happening at your business. This is supposed to be a legitimate company and you can’t even manage to spell things correctly within the game. If your employees care that little about the game that they can’t even run a spell check before publishing things maybe you should fire them and hire people that do care.
Please reconsider. If returned traces aren’t ultimately identical to the original spawn, at least make them equivalently beamed for fairness and so they’re clearly differentiated from any wild spawns. Thank you.

I am one who has invested a lot of money in this game. I keep giving the HPWU team the benefit of doubt, but this is getting beyond ridiculous.
Please revert the Trace Charm back to the previous functionality. As it stands now, it's no better than the TTD.
You have just turned a “charm” that cost and exorbitant amount of resources to obtain into having the Usefulness of the already existing trace tonic. This game is a complete BAIT AND SWITCH, and is using fraudulent practices, and has cost people the loss of MONEY invested in the game to obtain these resources. You are a complete fraud and lack any integrity as a game maker.
I'm getting tired of all these "fixes" that are blatant nerfs to game mechanics. I am not going to pump any more Restricted section books into the SOS skill tree, since that skill tree is now useless. All the features in the tree that are actually bugged are not fixed. The best parts of it, such as the trace charm giving us rare traces are nerfed instead. Not to mention we are having server issues EVERY weekend for the past few weeks with no fix in sight. It's frustrating as a player who was so keen on this game and wants to participate, but things like this happens and blindsides the community. It is totally a low blow to the players.
I would not have used as many books on the skills I did, if I had known this was a "bug". As a player that relies on ttd to get spawns at all at my house I really appreciated the ability to use the trace charm to complete many red and orange foundables that I otherwise rarely see. Please keep it the way it was.

Agreed it helps me to target rarer confoundables and the multiple traces helps fill those hard to find traces.
