A bit like the almost valueless higher proficiency, it appears now that trace charm efficacy is essentially worthless too.
I’ve used one trace charm (on an emergency) since this (sudden) change and spawned one emergency plus 2-3 low level traces (I don’t think even so much as a medium among them). That’s also 3-4 fewer than my efficacy should provide (7).
A lot of DADA Books and RSBs have therefore gone into getting a couple of low level traces (when it should be several more anyway) - that balance simply isn’t correct for the effort required to unlock something that’s a lot weaker than a tonic! If this is as intended then in my view an SOS tree reset option should be in order - as the goalposts have moved (and they have), it’s only fair and equitable to permit players the chance to redeploy their resources based on the intention, announcements, in-game text and actual behaviour (that latter point being the most telling) being consistent.

I'm not happy with the change here. I've spent a lot of time, effort, and books working to upgrade everything I could related to the trace charm and now without notice you've decided to change how it worked making it extremely less valuable. It's not like you could not forsee the old functionality if even a single test of the trace charm was done prior to release. Making massive functionality changes after releasing to complex progression chart that players have used months worth of resources to try and maximize does not make for a happy player base. If you're set on making the change you should offer everyone a full skill tree reset and book refund at this point and we can make decisions about what to purchase understanding the massive change in functionality.
Perhaps an organised 24 hour no-play/no-spend action sometime in the next week will help get the message across that they've royally stuffed up the trace charm and they need to rethink it. Particularly proficiency, but now also the trace spawns.
I consider the Trace Charm Efficacy before the bug was fixed was too much of a profit for players for a couple of sets of green books, but the current version is not worth of the investment. Why a player should invest green books for extra very common foundables that can be found in their garden each spawn cycle? I think the only way to fix these unfortunate and consecutive bugs that had a great negative impact in the player base is to make the Trace Charm more common and create more friendly ways to recharge it, like +2 recharge rewards on events or maybe a chance of +1 after beating high chambers in fortresses.
I get that the Trace Charm was overpowered, but you've gone WAY too far the other way - making it totally useless. Perhaps set it so traces produced are be at same or no more than ONE level lower.
Reset all books spent. This is a major change and the 15k+ books I gave spent are entirely wasted now. Fix this **** or I'm out with alot if other people. Your compensation is a joke. 100s of hours wasted..................................................................................
It seems the “fix” is not working as intended...or at the very least, acts as a nerf. I read the text to mean the “duplicate” spawn of the foundable you used the trace charm on was accidental, and shouldn’t have existed. But now, when I use Trace Charm on a Severe, instead of spawning other severes, it spawns randomly. It also makes spotting which ones are from TC much harder. If the intention was to make it so it spawned severes, but random ones rather than all the same, this also failed. Please clarify if it was always intended to spawn randomly (I.e. tonics) or if it was meant to spawn same level spawns and 1 higher level spawn. Example: Use TC on “Young Harry Potter”, spawn 1-7 Firenze and 1 Hagrid. Or, Spawn 1-7 random severes and 1 Hagrid.
You need to get much better at communicating everything about the game to your players! I think a lot of us would have understood that this was overpowered and that you miscalculated the effects it would have if you'd only told us about it. There seems to be major bugs with every update and change to the game which takes a long time to fix. I think we could also be more patient and understanding if we could only get the information we need quickly when things happen. Right now it seems like you are trying hard to get your players mad and making them leave the game.. I hope that is not the case but start communicating with us directly please, not through youtubers, discord servers etc. We should be getting information quickly and from an official source that is easy to find and read through (maybe a blog, youtube video or in game), about everything considering the game that changes it in any way.
I love this game but I am really starting to think about quitting since there's poor communication, lots of bugs and changes to the game without explaining why etc. It would also be nice if you could test out big new releases to the game even more before going live with them, this would probably help you and us not getting as many problems as we're now facing weekly.
Just be more open with us about what is happening, both positive and negative things and I am sure we would have a bigger understanding and trust for you.

Absolutely ridiculous. There is nothing in game to explain this change or warn anyone of what was about to happen. A little explanation and communication would have gone a long way but that's something that niantic and wb are apparently incapable of doing. To this point the information in game STILL says players receive more fragments with proficiency. If you are going to make a change like this change the wording and inform the players BEFORE implementing it. And I mean inform ALL the players not just the ones who come across you "sincere and honest" blog posts because they're looking for answers about why the game is broken... Again. I love this game but there is no way I could ever recommend it to anyone. I'm embarrassed for you.
I actually sent a bug report because I thought the trace charm was broken today as random problems occur in this game. I'm as frustrated as everybody above over wasted resources and real money. Finding out this was done on purpose blows my mind. The worst part is the game was much more fun to play lately. I actually bought gold coins because I wanted to keep playing! But this latest "fix" totally ruins it. How are the new low level traces produced by using the trace charm on an emergency trace the "other, rarer Foundables (plural) nearby" as described in Knowledge is Power? You guys may need some SOS training on fraud if you don't make this right quickly. You made the game better recently, please consider restoring the duplicate severe/emergency traces. Thanks
Why not fix the bugs that are really a problem like bus loop. You knew this was an issue from the start. You should’ve at least told us exactly how the TC was meant to run. We could’ve had a chance to modify our build.

Please give me something to look forward to. Using the Trace vaulted me to level 60. My xps are no longer visible, my Barifillo potions useless, and I've waited for Auror lessons for 6 months.
I love the game, and it was very helpful during covid19 to go out and fight something. I would like more to do. Increased fortress levels, and more combat lessons to cope with them. I'm done with the SOS tree.

I feel cheated, robbed and deceived. It is blatantly obvious that the only platform that Niantic gives a **** about is PokemonGo. Your efforts on Wizards Unite are nothing short of pathetic. You roll out mistake after mistake without bothering to test your so-called "updates." Now you have given a royal hose job to everyone who has invested their resources in following the trace charm route in training by rendering it worthless. I did not invest any resources in the inn charm, because I could see from the start that it was next to useless. You people are nothing but a bunch of scam artists. I have been dropping $20 a month on average to expand my vaults and such. Well, you will not get another galleon, sickle or knut out of me. You continually deceive players into expending valuable resources and following certain paths, and then cheat them out of what they earn. It is my fervent hope that people leave in droves and bankrupt you crooks.

Who wants to play a game where after a year you make no progress? Then when you finally move forward they nerf you and you taker two steps back. If feels like little effort has been made to make the story engaging, which is contrary to JK Rowling’s series.
Where is the actual story to this game? What is the point of collecting the same foundables over and over again because one foundable never appears? Have you thought about the forest instead of the trees? You just took away one of the joys of the game that you still had to work hard to use. It’s not right and it just doesn’t make any sense.

Um I went into restart loop while using TTD and a trace charm (I reopened to check if the traces re appear) . It was soon gone by itself, but lost time on TTD and charm effect. I was able to use it twice though so got 4 fragments.
I used a trace charm tonight and got 1 total red beam (the original one vanished before I could click on it). How is that worth it? To get more than 1 trace charm is a lot of work in game and you just turned it into another tonic (which is easy to get in game). All 3 charms are completely useless now.
I actually just went through my play store purchase history the other day and over the past three years I've literally spent thousands of dollars between Pokemon Go and Wizards Unite. More so Wizards Unite which is crazy cause it's only been a year. Let's be honest. The game was getting boring and they rolled something to keep interest. Well, it worked. Until they realized players were earning XP faster and then tried to "fix a misworded error" only to realize players were still earning a lot of XP. Wonder what the excuse will be now? Myself and so many other have wasted so much time, energy and money for this new and exciting (let's be honest only exciting thing added to the game) feature just for it to be nerfed. The whole point of the trace charm is to provide us with duplicates of what we've chosen to use it on. Otherwise, it's pointless because those basic traces we certainly don't need duplicates of (considering most of us have already prestiged most of our foundables/registry) aren't needed/wanted. This is the game play we wanted and was instantly taken from us. You can instantly refund me my thousands of dollars and books, manuals, etc. If that's the petty game we're playing. You lost interest. Gained it. And now have just down right screwed players. Boycotting this hot mess express until our trace charm we enjoyed so much is back to what it was. Otherwise sos training is pointless and a waste of time and in game materials.
More and more I am considering leaving this game. I receive brilliant foundables when using my trace detection after I already finished the event. I stop playing thinking it was another error. When I used the trace detection today I only received one trace. I was thinking it was a mistake and restarted the game only to see no foundables. I used my books just to get the sections on the tree, it is on the description that you will receive more foundables. this is useless now, books spent for something that was stated in the description and not received.

I am level 60. Almost all gold frames. Not much fun left now. The TC on severe was the one thing worth doing and I could get use of some potions. With the new change of TC I see no use of it. Not much gameplay left. Time to stop playing WU and go back to PoGo.
Collect fragments and get gold. That's it. No benefit. Also make everything resist and then depart after spending 8 hours brewing a potion to catch it.
Make people not want to spend real money.

Add a new skill system to make game funnier to play and make people consider depositing money for the first time ever. And make catch rate increase through skill tree upgrades that are so weak they don't matter anyway. So people lose the will to deposit again.

Ruin the game by changing the trace charm so people who spent hours, days and weeks of collecting books and walking forever to upgrade it gets screwed over, eliminating any last spark of will to deposit.
This is what happens when the devs don't get or care about the audience.
This game was never the same success as Pokemon Go, and it's things like this that pushes even more people away.
A few days ago, I recommended this game to friends because the trace charm made it exciting to play.
Now? Not so much.
Especially when certain normal items like the Omniculars refuse to spawn, and certain Fortress fragments refuse to appear until like 20-30 battles.
This game seems made to go against the player at every turn, so I guess that's why it doesn't need PVP...
Point is, no money from me before, definitely not now.
