At the top of the rewards page after the encounter, it shows 3 fragments. However, the bottom of the same page shows only 2 fragments and only two fragments are recorded in the registry.
I have the same issue .. I have upgraded Proficiency and I should receive three fragments .. but at the end .. the fragments are only two .. same as OTUSMAGICUS and MISTERSPARKLES
The bugs - yes, plural - surrounding the Trace Charm appear to be serious bugs, especially the fact that promised fragments are not being awarded, and I don't see even one response from the dev team in this thread. Have they acknowledged the fragments bug anywhere.
I don't know how they will try to fix fragments not awarded due to this bug, which seems to be ongoing. Eventually, I'm looking for another free make-up gift to all to compensate. Another nice upgrade on its face which has simply not been thoroughly tested before implementation.
And ther is more. I couldn't even access "Foretelling Foundables" until I COMPLETED the previous node, which had 3 separate lessons therein, even though the narrative said "Unlock the previous node to gain access to this upgrade." Looking through the skill tree, I see there are many (certainly not all) nodes that are inaccessible due to this same problem. If they meant that a node had to be COMPLETED rather than just UNLOCKED to access the next node, they should have said so. They are, after all, distinctly different things. And this is apparently not even well-understood by the support team. One support person, in response to my question about this, said "There are a few nodes where it's necessary to master all previous connecting nodes in order to unlock them. Nevertheless, I will share your feedback with the team. This will help us improve the gameplay experience." In other words, what the skill tree says is not what it means.
Can we please get a fix for this....this was brought up almost 3 weeks ago, and many of us have spent what we earned to increase those fragments from the trace charm and this is taking a bit to fix.
So we dont get to place an image as often cause we not getting the right number of fragments, making us lose XP (with also increased trunk XP) , lose out on number of ministry books we could get from placing image more often etc etc.
What is happening, Charm Proficiency is affecting Family XP (+10% per level) and Wizarding XP (+10% per level) instead of returned fragments.
Emergency level curiosity traces normally give 500 Wizarding XP and 20 Family XP. at Proficiency level 3, it was 650 XP and 26 Family XP. I just upped it to level 4 and now I'm receiving 700 Wizarding XP and 28 Family XP
Is it a bug or is it a "typo"? The wording leads us to expect an extra fragment but get an extra space to store trace spells instead. "Deep dive" looks like it's maybe a typo? They've reused text from somewhere else? The game's full of it, half the error messages, and even the congrats message are misused text from somewhere else in the game.
I am not seeing fragment number increases when using the trace charm ( as promised in the trace charm proficiency upgrades in SOS training). I mastered “deep dive” and “dangerous attraction” which I believe should mean the number of fragments returned for each trace generated by the trace charm is increased to 4. But the number of fragments being retrieved is still just 2 (the same as before I upgraded deep dive and dangerous attraction nodes). Basically these two upgrades aren’t being reflected in game play. I’m thinking this is a bug as otherwise there is no point to upgrading these.
I’m having this same issue of course. Currently I should be returning 4 fragments/Foundable spawned through the trace charm, yet I’m getting 2. I attached a clip of 3x in a row this just occurring on the Philosophers Stone. It’s weird that like OP even the bugged animation only shows a max of 3 frags rather than 5.... My worry is the HPWU team is not directly addressing this, so we don’t know what the fix will be or any time frame or if there even is going to be a fix. Just wanted to note I reached out to Support to request that they reverse my “purchase” of the Trace Proficiency nodes ‘Foretelling Foundables’ (252 FG, 47 MM) and ‘Deep Dive’ (501 FG, 132 MM). I’ve attached the response (lmk if this is breaking any rules @hpwulola ) but in short, you can not be refunded, there is no manual adjustment for the fragments you should have returned, and it really seems like the HPWU is purposely avoiding a statement of the actual problem - the Foundables returned with the Trace Charm are only returning max 2 fragments, even if your Proficiency level should give you more than 2 fragments.
By adding in such a huge tool to the game the Trace Charm is obviously going to be many player’s focus. I understand if it’s a hard problem to fix but please at least address it accurately so other players don’t waste their time and currency, and please let us know what the fix is going to be and when we can expect one.

This is a HUGE problem .. only today I have used three times spell charm and got spawned 6 emergency foundables .. so this means that just for today I LOST 18 emergency fragments !!! OK I will have to use the calculator to calculate how much I will use for a month .. - 540 fragments !!!
Please fix this asap .. as it costs me tons of experience, runes, SOS Manuals and numbers of chances to get trace a charm
Ok, there's something inherently wrong with the Trace Charm. It's not only the lower fragment count about which people are talking in the last three pages. It's much worse. I'll give an example with what happened to me today. Unfortunately I don't have any screenshots, but I'll take some next time if I get the chance.
So this morning I saw a Fluffy. I have him on a gold page so I used the Trace Charm on him and got 4 foundables altogether (incl. the original). Afterwards my screen froze, so I had to wait a couple of minutes for the app to start after a force shut down. Anyway...
Before I returned any foundable I had 3/10 Fluffys. Since I only have the "Lost and Foundables" nod to increase my proficiency, I'm supposed to get one extra fragment per foundable.
After I returned the first Fluffy, the result screen on the top showed +3, but the results summary showed 5/10. So far so good.
When I opened the second Fluffy, the counter on top showed that I have 6/10 Fluffy (where did the extra one came from?) and after I returned it the results summary showed 8/10.
After I returned the third Fluffy, the results summary showed 8/10, as if I didn't gain any fragments at all. However, when I went to the registry page, it showed me that I have 10/10 Fluffys and I was able to prestige it.
Unfortunately, by this point too much time has passed and the last Fluffy wasn't there anymore.
I have the feeling that the code concerning the Trace Charm is just a giant hotch-potch and nothing is working like it's supposed to. The idea behind the Charm is actually great and I hope that the HPWU Team will manage to quickly fix the problems with it.
These issues have been around for a while and the WU team is not fixing as they realised sometime down the line that a maxed out trace charm is imbalanced.
If all nodes are upgraded,
- it should give 9-10 traces, each of which counts as 9 fragments.
- assuming all emergency then every 2 traces can allow for a page to be prestiged.... implying 5x prestige per trace charm use. And each placed image would give 600 family exp and hence 30 treasure chests (5*6).
- in terms of currency it is 200 field guides (20*10), 275 ministry manuals (5*55) and 120 scrolls (30*4).
In my experience you get a trace charm bonus charge from every 30 treasure chests, so essentially this chain can continue as long as there are enough emergency or severes through tonic, dark detectors or moving around.
The exp gain is also quite insane - over 50k per trace charm use when bbe is active. If all of this is done using a trace charm on a severe then everything gets reduced by about 40-60%.
So in summary, I think they are thinking of a nerf...which will be troublesome given many of us have invested most of their resources on upgrading the trace charm!
Bought proficiency to lv 2 and now tested that I'm getting still 2 fragments instead of 3. How disappointing. Especially when I spent somewhere around 14 gold books to unlock that branch.
Came here to report the same bug. I'm only getting two fragments and should be getting three. I was going to select piece of the puzzle next to get four fragments, but it's quite the waste of resources with this bug not being fixed.
I have the same problem but it did not occur to me until I upgraded to 3 fragments. I see 3 initially like you first screen shot (where you got two) but then I get reduced to 2 (where you got 1).

Fragment count displayed in the rewards flow after returning Foundables spawned by the Trace Charm is inaccurate and differs from the Fragment count shown in the rewards summary drop-down. The rewards summary shows the most accurate Fragment count progress.
I have done several SOS Trainings to increase the fragments I get from foundables affected by my trace charm.
The latest, Gethsemane’s Pickle, was supposed to take me from 3 fragments to 4...but I’m still only getting 2 fragments maximum, and sometimes only one.
I have upgraded my trace charm so that I should receive three fragments for each Foundable. As the completion screen appears it shows three, but the final screen shows two, and this is the count that stays going forward. Screenshots attached.
I’m having an issue with the trace charm proficiency where it says I get awarded +3 fragments at the top, but when the summary displays at the end, it only shows +2 fragments. I only end up receiving +2 fragments. This is really frustrating and has been going on for more than a week. There are a lot of bugs recently, it’d be nice if the bugs could be fixed instead of launching into a new event or community day every week. I do enjoy the events, but I’d be happy to skip one if these bugs could get ironed out. With the continuing issues with Wizarding challenges, it’s been harder to find other players and I notice they often don’t use strategic spells or know which foes they should be targeting based on their profession.
I don't know why an important function like this is not working. This is a function you check 3 times before release.... My thoughts are that this is not meant to be functional. To be honest... It would be absolutely over powered.
I think it would be possible that with one of the next updates it will be deleted or replaced and fragment count stays at 2 with trace charm
I am not getting my 5 fragments per trace charm caught item either, just like the OP. Today I unlocked 5 fragments per catch in SOS but only got 2 fragments per catch. I was at 4 fragments per catch for the entire event weekend and only got 2 for each trace charm catch. I'd like to get what I've earned.

After casting a trace charm and returning, the summary displays increase fragment count. The registry will show less fragment returned.
IE.
I have 0/5 Professor McGonagall. Cast trace charm and return one, the summary page shows 3/5. When I go look in the registry it says 2/5.

Not only that, but when updating from 3 to 4, I can see it incrementing 3 fragments but reverts immediately to 2 fragments

I already had the bonus for one extra fragment with the charm and I recently saved up for an cashed for the second one pictured below.
I duplicated a Peter Pettigrew and got Irklings on the side. I only received one extra fragment for each though I should be getting two.

I got an an extra fragment twice after returning the foundable, but it disappeared at the summary. This was from a trace charm. Android 9.
