So lately I see more talk about people running more than one account but the TOS says you can’t. Am I missing something? If a person wants to take the time to level a professor, a magizoologist and an Auror I say more power to them. Why is that considered cheating?

are you sure it’s multiple accounts, rather than just changing profession? I think you can certainly do that, and I’ve heard ( but haven’t proved it myself ) that you maintain your skill tree for switching back as well.
I’m finding it hard enough levelling one character never mind three mind you!
I believe the reason may have something to do with some people creating and training multiple accounts for monetary gain. As it turns out, discouraging players from monetizing games is standard practice nowadays, as in many cases this practice unbalances a game, potentially leading to its demise.
Multi-Accounting is cheating and it violates the terms of service.
The explanation is relatively simple. Certain parts of the game are designed for groups of players, yet a multi-accounter could theoreticly "solo" them. If it were allowed, there wouldn't be any need for "communities" - something that Niantic has always tried to build and strengthen.

This goes all the way back to Ingress when people were making dual accounts so they could explode xp and badges.
You can multi-profession with one account in this game. No need to cheat.
Ah ok Lucoire. That makes a bit more sense to me. I get being able to branch across other trees. I also see where it makes sense if people want to try each profession out for a bit. Thanks for clearing that up.
