"Place x images" is conceptually a terrible quest
Ok, I learned this lesson several events ago: Always go to the forum to read all upcoming quests before starting a brilliant event so I knew in advance that I shouldn't place any images on the event page until I reach part 4 of the quest series. So, with a tiny amount of preperation this was easy to complete for me.
HOWEVER: If I wouldn't have known this and placed the images as we are supposed to do in the regular game play, this quest would have been considerably harder. So, for anybody that did not check the internet for what is coming, this might turn out an unessarily frustrating quest.
Not that it would be impossible to do still, but just super annoying to know that if only you wouldn't have placed the images, you would be so much better off.
Generally, I just wouldn't create quests in which you have a disadvantage when you progress in the game the intuitive way. This goes for this quest, as well as the family XP quests...

I agree.
I have no problem with fxp tasks on family events, but this feels rather silly.
It seems like it is intended to slow people down, but what it does instead is reward the uber players (who play enough to do it easily without even preparing!) and means that those who don't frequent online forums will probably miss the opportunity.
I don't think tasks should be easy or that everyone should automatically pass, if they are considered challenges rather than tasks, but sometimes the choices have unintended consequences, and I think this is one.
Why not place the fortress-specific images? The numbers you need for those are usually around 3 making it considerably easier to place only 5 images. Sure you do need runestones but if you had placed images images already and completed previous tasks then you should have enough runestones to get you started. Not to mention that sometimes later tasks tell you to do some fortresses anyways. Therefore, if you use brilliant runestones during those runs you condense your playtime.
Using my brilliant runestones in low tower chambers I was able to get that task done in about 2 hours. After each run I would jump out and complete any brilliant traces that had appeared having a TTD potion active. That task was done without any prior prep other then placing images to get runestones which you would get anyways from normal play time.
You can still play the game intuitively if you use all of the features the game has available to you. I don't see why a player couldn't run fortress chambers while also completing traces in between chambers.
I don't really have a problem with it as i snap up as many brilliant foundables as i can, if i wait until part 4 to place an image, i will have usually missed out on placing the image a 2nd or 3rd time.
Also, after finishing all 4 parts in one day a few events ago, i realized that i would rather let it stretch out a bit before finishing so as to keep the flow at a better pace.
I saved placing my images until part 4 and still was not able to complete part 4. I am getting minimal spawns, so I didn't have enough runestones to place gringots 3 times, and with the amount it takes to place the foundables going from 15 to 20, I was not able to complete part 4, even with multiple uses of the TTD
@ShadeJay Yes, I do fortress runs to get those too. But drops were few and far between on this event for me.
The hardest part with BE fortress runs are the RNG on drops. I have gone through events where I have used every last runestone to get my drops and I have had events where it only took three runs to complete the foundable and that has been below forest 3! Often my RNG is better the lower I go in the tower (towards ruins) rather than the higher, but again it all depends on RNG. The last really bad rng run I just simply cleared my cache and rebooted my phone, seemed to change my "luck" . Might be worth keeping that tip in your back pocket.
@Magpie31 I've done Dark V to get the necessary 3d fragment lol. We're getting considerably fewer brilliant runestones lately and in my eyes they grew in value. But normalky nobody likes a player with a brilliant stone in a Dark V and usually for good reasons. However with this latest change I'll have to run a DV to ensure I'm getting a fragment every time. I also want those sweet extra 1k xp (I want to reach lvl 46 asap to get that charm increase upgrade!). I don't like this change because every time I'm risking the team bailing on me.
I have been on the fence about reading about the tasks prior to unlocking. (I like to be informed for others but surprised myself.)
For this event I knew, but forgot, about the placing images task and had just placed images immediately prior to the task being assigned. I thought I was going to need to walk to open portmanteaus but I ended up collecting nearly 60 brilliant foundables before I unlocked the required number of portkeys. Although I have a very nice place to walk, I don't think that this task was too extreme for a casual player given there is a week.
While I understand that this makes the task too simple for the Uber player the obvious solution is to not read the assignments ahead of time.
It's always bothered me that the assignments are not released through official channels but the release apparently has the blessing of the powers that be. I really wish I had clarity on how the game is supposed to be played.
