@FixMyGreenStars @Buutterface Well, according to some friends who were also trying to figure it out, it’s to do with potions and only affects professors, since a potion can act as an enhancement for them. If you have a potion active when you enter the Knight bus it increases the number.

I think they only double checked with extimulos though and the number increased by the same amount. I’m guessing it’s the same with other potions, but I’m not sure.

Hello! I am one of the ones who was experimenting, as @Imaginatio said.

Professors have enhancement dependent boosts, and potions count. So a maxed professor with no potions is the 996638 number. There is another number for professors with one potion, and a 1.3 million number for professors with 2 potions.

The scores are calculated at the point of profession switching. So I play all three professions. If I switch to professor while I have potions running, it gives me the higher number. If the potions run out, I keep that high number as long as I am professor, as the scores are only calculated at the point of switching.

HOWEVER, I suspect that this is unintentional and may change when the SOS training is introduced and numbers adjusted next week.

Designers, would you open a discussion about what players would like to see? Here's a few ideas of mine.

    1. We had witches for the Halloween event, and have never seen them again. Couldn't you use them as dark wizards or Death Eaters? There were females in both categories.

    2. Horcruxes. As a page.

    3. House elves. Four named in the HP series: Dobby, Winky, Hokey, and Kreacher. Round out the house elves with Hogwart's staff elves such as chefs.

    4. Women from Fantastic Beasts. The Goldstein sisters, the President, the cult leader, Leta Lestrange and Nagini. Add Jacob, too, please.

    5. The relics of the Founders of Hogwarts. The sword, cup, diadem and locket.

    6. Foods: pumpkin pastries, treacle tarts, cauldron cakes, lemon sherbet....

    7. The infirmary. How many important scenes took place there? Petrified Hermione, Harry regrowing his arm bones, Lavender and Ron, Draco with injured arm, and beginning of Time Turner scene.

I'm sure other people would add to this list.

@HPWUTeam @HPWUmac - while we're all (im)patiently waiting for the new SOS training to roll out, thank you for trying to pull back the curtain a bit. More of these "here's what we were thinking" posts would be great for the community and I suspect for you the devs.

I would suggest perhaps doing it a bit earlier, but just reaching out with your thoughts and listening to the reactions is a big step forward. Kudos.

@WitchHiker here's the proper place to report bugs.

Madam Hooch looks like she's at the magic version of a rodeo riding a bucking bronco!

In the in-game animation, she looked more like a pink Tinkerbell.

Before this update I was a level 30 magizoologist with over 500,000 on my points going into a fortress. I’m now at less than 20,000?!?

WHAT IN THE MUGGLE IS THIS?!?

I completed the Dark Chamber 1 ALONE 3 days ago. Now I don’t even have enough to chance entering that chamber!! Foundables that we’re once a breeze to catch, are not. I’ve had to cast two spells on foes in the Ruins Chamber 2, which I haven’t needed to do since Forever. This is completely ridiculous and has ruined my game play. I get changing things up and adding new features. I was excited for the new SOS tasks and training. BUT now I feel like a brand new player and starting over.

Anyone else notice a considerable drop in their abilities?! I hadn’t maxed out my lessons but I’m not far off... nothing that would prompt this huge drop in game play.

@TheDinkins the changed combat numbers shouldn’t affect game play in the fortress. I’m a maxed Magizoologist and I haven’t noticed a change with fortress gameplay yet, but I haven’t done many lower chamber battles since the update, so I may have missed something.

Generally though you should note that depending on the foes you get in ruins there is a chance that some may require two strikes even for a maxed magi. It’s not usually the case with ruins 1 & 2, but possible, though I’m not sure if that chance has been changed slightly or not since the update; I’ll keep an eye out next time I do a few ruins/tower/forest battles.

Also, the very high 6/7 figure scores weren’t the right scores. They were included with the update, but were subject to change with the SOS training going live. The current scores do seem to have a few bugs though - the main one being that it might change to a higher number if you change professions and come back to the one you’re using, but they also seem to revert to the other lower number if you complete some SOS training skills. Hopefully the @HPWUTeam can sort out the bugs with the profession appraisal numbers so that they are consistent and what they should be. Once the bugs are fixed, I’m sure players will figure out more about those numbers and share information on it; until then though, best not to dwell on them too much at the moment.

@Imaginatio thanks for that heads up. Hopefully things go back to normal soon and they work out the kinks. It’s really frustrating using tons of energy to catch basic foundables and not being able to fight in the fortresses.

@TheDinkins No problem. We’re all in the same boat with this new update and trying to figure it all out, but I’m sure we’ll get there soon by working together.

With the map foundables the threat meter seems weird now, but I don’t think the changes in the colours has affected how easy it is to return foundables, however I’m not sure. Best to first wait for the dust to settle and the bugs to be fixed and then see what happens.

I like the new SOS training skills, have you had a look at them? There’s so much that can be done to help with the game play including making it easier to return map foundables. I told myself I would wait before investing in the skills, but then I saw them and got carried away. 👀😅

@Imaginatio I have spent more than I wanted to on SOS Training. I was also going to wait, but I got trigger finger and went a bit wild! I do like it as an addition to the game. There’s a lot of customization left for the higher levels. It looks like SOS training remains the same on all professions and doesn’t reset which is also a HUGE plus. Once I max out my current profile I’m going to spend more time on the others while increasing the skills tree. I dabbled as an Auror and Professor before deciding to stick with Magizoologist.

@TheDinkins I’m thinking of spending on at least one of the other professions as well. When I started HPWU and saw the Magizoology profession as an option, I just dived in and didn’t look back and decided to not spend any extra scrolls or books after maxing it. But seeing the new skill tree now, I think I might finally spend my stash of books and scrolls on another profession.

I appreciate the new skill tree but I'm super frustrated with the Defense Against the Dark Arts book allocations. You need 1358 DADA books to complete the skill tree and you're only giving us 5 per brilliant event, so 10 a month. At that rate it will take 11 years and 4 months to complete the tree. Assuming you complete every Brilliant event. More need to be handed out or this is going to be an impossible grind. Especially since some parts of the tree can't be accessed without DADA books.

    @Starteck81 Absolutely agree.

The games held hostage by these DADA books.

We need another way to acquire them.

The SOS idea is great but promoting IT, at the expense of, our hard earned combat lessons is an abysmal failure. You promised “more lessons soon”, you came up with another system entirely! Now Im

stuck, Not being able to finish my Mazoology lesson and there’s no recourse. Every scroll etc, goes to SOS! Where’s the new Lessons? I feel like it’s a bait and switch scheme...Im so disapointed
