Please increase the extension on the current event to 24 hours.

Firstly, thank you for adding the extension to the current event. Many people were offline for a long time, and it's good to see Niantic taking this into account and allowing extra time.

But I have to point out that, while a twelve hour extension is great if you happen to live in the United States where, if I understand the timezones correctly, the event, originally due to finish at 11am, now extends through the afternoon and evening, finishing at 11pm instead, giving a lot of extra tracing time. It is, however, a lot less use if, like me, you live in Europe. I live in the UK, where the event is due to finish at 7pm - with the twelve hour extension, it will now end at 7am. Same amount of time, but mostly taken up by the night, so for practical purposes , we're only getting three or four extra hours of viable time, far less than our sibling wizards across the pond.

With this in mind, with the aim of being fair to all wizards and witches around the world, I would request that the extension be increased to 24 hours. Thank you.

Hi @HumphBlackfur and welcome to the forum.

I have to admit, I had the same conversation with my friends this morning. On an event that is not time zone dependent (as in, we all start at the same time PST) then 24 hours is much fairer conpensation, particularly given that those players impacted lost over 24 hours play time.

However, playing devil's advocate here, they could have just said tough luck, and we will be getting a store pack as well.

probably to prevent overlapping event which from experience is unfavorable

Yeah, I did wonder that too @Kodokmag. We know that brilliant event spawns interfere with other spawns (eg werewolves)

I also think that it's better to prolong it by 24 hours. The next event starts at the same time for everybody (11 am PT on the 28th of July) there won't be any overlapping for anybody. The overlapping is only an issue if there's an event running by Niantic time, e.g. 11 am PT which corresponds to 8 pm CEST and 7pm GMT, followed by an event running on local time, e.g. pre-corona Community days, running from 11 am to 2pm local time.

There were already some events ending and starting on the same day and in the matter of minutes. Nobody complained.

    "Nobody complained"

You sweet summer child! Clearly you weren't on the forum in those days! 😂😂

Rule of thumb: If @hpwulola posts something, someone will complain. They will never be satisfied.

    😄

OK, my point was that there will be no overlapping and that there were already such events, so technically it should be possible. I'm on the forum for quite some time now, but I haven't seen complaints specifically for events starting directly after each other. About overlapping events, too many / too few events, too hard / too easy events - sure. But I don't doubt that there will be always something to complain about. 😁

Hi, @Magpie31 and thanks for the welcome. You're absolutely right, we are getting a store pack as compensation and they could absolutely have said tough, these things happen, and leave it at that. But if they were going to do that, I'd rather they hadn't extended it at all, rather than extending it in a manner that only really benefits some. It was only the unevenness that prompted my post.

@ElisaWilson I get that, and I agree, personally. I nean, whether it is 12 or 24, I am unlikely to benefit as I start a new job in 12 hours' time. But still, I have friends who do need the extension.

@HumphBlackfur @Magpie31 I think 12 is unfair (I'm in Europe too). 23 hrs would allow event to end before the Brilliant event and would be much more fair - what do you think @hpwulola ?

I'm off the same opinion as post creator, please extend the event 24 hours instead of 12, that way all people get to play the time they want/can instead of being forced to either play a lot less or expend time outside what is normal

This just was such a waste of time and potions. My last pink potion ( before I gave up) netted 11 LOH foundables in 30 minutes. ONLY 4 HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TASKS! 2 of them disappeared after using up all the strong exstimulo and great casts. This update has made this game no fun. I am level 32, so I would expect to get SOME of the foundables without having to upgrade lots of books to a teashop before I can get any strength iN getting a foundable.

I am sorry to ramble, but I went through so many potent and strong exstimulos, 4 pink potions to net 10 hagrids, 7 Remus, and 3 Dumbledores. I feel like I was robbed 😩
