XXX/142 Profession Points

We are limited by green books that goes without saying but is there a limit on what we can spend with scrolls and red books? Am at 137/142 (which I do not even know what that means) so worried if I get a few more done I won't be able to get anymore. Also worried if I get more green books I won't be able to add those as my 142 could already be spent.

I think you are confusing the xp progress bar you get by using scrolls/books/restricted books which upgrade you profession grade, with something else that will limit your total profession upgrades you can perform. As far as I know there is no such thing in the game. I think the limiting factor for upgrading professions will not be such a limit as you described, but the time, energy, and perhaps money needed to grind the required items will progressively increase exponentially and get more difficult as you near the current max lv60.
