Why can't I use more than 4 Strategic Spells in Fortresses?

I feel like I'm missing something. When I go to a wizards challenge and want to drag and drop a strategic spell on a foe, I only see available the original 4 spells I acquired. I now have more than 4 and would like to use some of them. But I can't get them to pop up. What am I doing wrong?!

If I'm not mistaken, there are only 4 spells available to each profession, so I'm not sure what other spells you might have acquired. The current spells are:
Professor
- Deterioration Hex
- Mending Charm
- Protection Charm
- Proficiency Charm
Magizoologist
- Stamina Charm
- Mending Charm
- Bravery Charm
- Revive Charm
Auror
- Weakening Hex
- Bat-Bogey Hex
- Focus Charm
- Confusion Hex
When you are building in your skill tree, there are two types of things to put scrolls and books into. The square charms/hexes and then the circle stats. Some of the stats we build into are things like Stamina, Power, Protego Power, Precision, Critical Power, Proficiency Power, Deficiency Defence, Defence, Defence Breach, and Accuracy.
You should probably go back to your tree and click on the things that you think are "other" abilities to see if it might be one of those other things above. Also...most charms and hexes have levels. They can have as many as 8 parts to max out in order to get the full power of the spell.

There are only 4 Strategic Spells per profession. The other ones you see in your skill tree are actually upgrades to the original 4, which improve their effects. For example, Ferocious Bat-Bogey Hex improves the Bat-Bogey Hex in your second slot.
