Why Is This Forum So Laggy?
Why is there a delay when I type in this Forum?
Every time I try to comment on a discussion thread, I'm basically having to type blind because there is so much lag. There are times that I basically switch over to another browser window to do something else while I wait for my typed text to appear so that I can then correct the typos and/or reword what I've written.
What's with the lag? I don't have this in any other webpage I use. I've just used a stop watch to record how long it takes for this sentence to appear after I've stopped typing... 1 minute and 32 seconds. Seriously? 😳
FWIW... I'm in Australia with a Fibre Optic to the Premises connection.
PING = 3 ms
DOWNLOAD 94.19 Mbps
UPLOAD 9.69 Mbps
Again, no other website I use (and I use plenty of other websites that have text boxes) does this, just this form.

No lag detected here. Using Opera over wifi-> and 10/10 connection from Finland.
I, and others, have had the same issue. Switching to Chrome solved it for me. Firefox and Safari were a no go.
Huh, well this is funny, because I'm also from Finland and I do have a slight lag. I'm using Chrome on 4G, mostly. It's not laggy as for you, @Razorgirl but still. I've wondered whether it's because of my phone instead of the forums, this has happened earlier on other apps.
Forgive me for thinking that effective website design means coding it to work for all users regardless of their choice of browser - except for Netscape. 😜
Seriously, if Niantic could fix this forum to work properly that would be grand. Are we seriously meant to believe that they can design a game that uses AR+ but an efficient online forum is beyond them?
Touche! Work in progress, I'm sure.
I've had a couple of issues with "lag" and "non responsive tabs" when using this forum. Monitoring system activity on my operating system pointed towards high CPU usage which to me suggests that some script used by the page is causing the havock.
I'll continue having a look for which one that is. So far, the Site seems to strongly make use of jQuery.
Initially my suspicion was that the "Draft-backup"-Script caused this...
It seems to be the async~mountEditor.min.js that's doing weird stuff.
This timeout I got after it got REALLY laggy. Apparently Website-Performance also depends on Cloudflare
I’m in one of the largest US cities, using the top cellular provider and a brand new top of the line iPhone, and the lag is horrible! It’s really not even usable. I’ve tried Safari and Chrome.
Almost always lags out on me when I'm trying to reply.
true! temporary workaround: if you want to comment or post a discussion, type it first on your notepad then copy and paste here.
