And let’s also remember @BenTiger that they too are people, just like all of us. They have personal lives. They have families. They are entitled to the same time away from work that the rest of us would expect. We shouldn’t expect them to be “working around the clock.” If you do, that’s your prerogative.
Let’s also remember this is a game. Please try to keep things in perspective and remember that the world doesn’t revolve around this game.
I hope you and all of the @HPWUTeam have a relaxing weekend.
@MrSciGuy I am not expecting their entire staff to work around the clock... most big companies have volunteers willing to work extra hours, to fix issues like this. As soon as a fix is found, then they contact QA that is on call, and the fix is tested. Niantic and Portkey, however, are not as flexible and don't seem to offer overtime pay to help correct issues in an expedient manner.
For them, it is a job. There is no "ownership"... so their "care" level is low and big issues like this get resolved at a "I don't care" speed.
And how do you know that’s not exactly what’s happening there right now @BenTiger? You don’t work there. You don’t know how big or small their staff is. You don’t know their company policies.
@MrSciGuy They proved the accuracy of my statements with the Memorial day weekend and statements made on discord and reddit, that I don't care to take the time to go find.
@dRomers They will not reply on the weekends... and my last support ticket took 47 hours for a response, so don't get aggravated... they will respond... some time during the week.
@hpwulolaperhaps venting on a Twitter would be more useful on a weekend? I notice the fragment fix is no longer even being discussed under the #wizardunite discussion.
28 pages and close to a 1000 posts on this thread..... Insure we can make some noise....
And @hpwulola , while we understand you are not on the coding/technical team, you are the PR representative, and you need to do your job. The communication had been highly lacking, stuttered, with a lack of contrition , humbleness and reassurances. While it may be understandable that you do not know the timeline of the technical resolution for this current debacle, you are leaving us to fend for ourselves while offering the most minimal of communication. This. Is. Not. Acceptable.
Acknowledge our problems, pacify our emotions and show acknowledgement that you have been reading all of our comments. This is your job as the PR representative. And you need to step up big time.
This is some rough negging on the community manager who has worked late and responded to us numerous times on this thread. Yikes. Yiiiikes.
Lola has specifically acknowledged within the last 24 hours:
the problem
how frustrating the problem is for so many of us
a timetable for more information from the devs
reconfirmed again that she’s reading all our comments
As for pacifying our emotions, we are adults and responsible for our own emotions. I dunno what Lola’s job description is line-by-line is, but I sure hope that infantilizing Niantic customers and pacifying them isn’t listed. Because that’s a horrifying mental picture. :)
I have not read every post in this thread just skimmed through and I am absolutely disgusted by this community and a community I was so proud and happy to be a part of. The USA is falling apart with rioting and people being murdered in the streets and protests filled with hatred, anger, and violence. I used to love to come to this forum for light hearted joy, meeting my HP soul mates, and learning about the game we all love. This forum has turned into what is happening in the states and it is appalling and I am embarrassed for so many of you. I lost tons of stuff too like a lot of people but for the love of God people this is a FREE GAME. Did the HPWU team royally **** up the fragment “fix”? YES. But the amount of negativity, entitlement, and and just downright childish behavior is absurd. HPWU has never ever been strong in the communication department and we are coming up on the one year anniversary of the rollout of this game so why are you all surprised that they haven’t communicated well? Put things in perspective people.
I did receive some fragments back. I’m happy about that. But don’t let that make you think that I’ve forgotten about the 1,000’s more I haven’t gotten back. I’ve already quit Ingress and Pogo over frustrations with those games. I’ve spent way too much money on all 3. Nianitic has one straw left. The next one will see me leaving this game and never playing another Niantic title.
So I got some back but I lost countless others. For example I was 1 fragment from prestiging New York City from Magizoologist family but I just realized that now I lost my star on Unicorn, got back to 6/10 and lost my extra Thunderbirds from the Poacher event.
Chinese Fireball: I have seen it 47 times. I am on the first page (I never prestiged the page) and the counter says 0/3. That means I never got a fragment.
@JasonLYH Why so negative? If you're missing fragments, just politely ask to be added to whatever list exists. There's no need to attack @ClairabusGryff, who rightly noted the uncivil tone in many of the posts
@Stina1A I had 200 doxies the day before the change. Then the change happened and I was at 200/55, placed it, got the star then was at 0/55. If basic, bronze and silver counts would have counted, I would have been higher than 200/55. I don’t remember basic and bronze counts but I know silver was 100 so if they had counted, i should have gotten at least 3xx/55 and that was not the case.
To to me this is a bad migration strategy of the requirements change.
It makes me feel like I have been leveled down. I posted at length about this earlier in this thread or a previous one about the 2.13 update.
Either they have a journaled logfile setup and can restore the actual earned fragment counts (accounting for prestiging and re-placing for green stars), or they have a simpler snapshotted db rigged up and will do another round of creative math comparing db snapshots and we end up with...something?
However it goes, remember this is just a dopaminergic game tuned to trigger your brain’s anticipation/reward cycle and that withholding that reward briefly enhances the effect. You (and I)’re in the middle of the withholding part and your/my brain is making us very aware of it. Look for randomization of reward and the 40-60% reward ratio characteristic of these games and the monotonically-increasing counters that give us a sense of progress and accomplishment.
It is para-accomplishment.
So all this ludology vocab to remind us of something. Withdrawal is no fun and can make us say some nasty things online out of frustration and discomfort.
Be kind, remember the human, understand how the game affects your physical brain, make informed choices.
Hello... I wanted to drop by and say thank you to WU devs and support team for making my quarantine experience so much more enjoyable. I've been mostly stuck at home for few months, and all these depressing COVID news, long isolation period, fear of losing my loved ones, etc, were taking toll on me. Playing Wizards Unite and interacting with other people on Knignt Bus and WU Discord servers helped me alleviate negative feelings I was having- like uncertainty, depression, and helplessness. Thank you for trying to make our experience during these trying times better.
@Blinker73 yes, looking back on my counts I now understand what you’re saying. I don’t agree with how they did it either, but it helps me to know what is actually a true bug (ie when I prestiged after the update and my counts went to 0) versus what was just a result of how they decided to migrate fragments (ie only having 2/14 wizengamot chairs because I’d prestiged the page before the update). I appreciate you explaining it twice - I must have missed it in the sea of posts on the other thread.
@JasonLYH why bother explaining yourself? some people will never understand the time and effort taken to painstakingly complete your registry, only to be screwed by the very fact that we are playing the game while the update happens.
It is always easy for some to comment because they are either minor-ly affected, or that they are on status quo (did not get the rollover). Those of us who did not get the rollover, and had our green stars removed now have a very pathetic looking page. Imagine how some have been ranting when they only have been slightly affected, yet those of us on the bus got hit the hardest are being told that we cant rant or we cant even feel upset.
Empathy goes a long way. If you did not get badly hit, I suggest that you guys stop telling the rest what to do. WE, the people on the knight bus while the update took place, have EVERYTHING ROBBED FROM US. Appreciate that we can have them back soonest possible.
I also wished people stopped with the pep talk like Warner Brothers is just a bunch of amateur kids, trying out stuff in their parents garage, down the street, while they're finishing school.
This is a huge company, WU is the product of a huge company.
Amateur mistakes 3 times in a month that break the whole game for so many of us.... yep, the stuff of kids starting up in a garage. But this is Warner Brothers.
And read the privacy lines on tos. We're not playing for free, even if you don't put your money in the game. You're paying with your data. And that as we all should know is very valuable.
They're not "giving" the game for free because of the kindness of their hearts. They sure won't be loosing money from it even if you don't see the indirect profits. This is a major company. It's not your known neighbours down the street.
I am tagging you two, as I am responding to certain points you have made, but it is a general post.
I also know that it is unlikely to make a difference to how people see things, and I sincerely hope it doesn't further antagonise.
Although I can't speak for everyone on this thread, I know that one or two of the posters who are trying to be supportive of the moderators / admin have been seriously impacted by the bugs. So this attitude is not coming from a place of not understanding the hurt, frustration and anger at losing so much progress.
Also, there is nothing wrong with having a rant or a vent - I don't believe anyone has said that (unless I have missed it).
The part that people are reacting at is where the human beings dealing with this (probably as best as they are permitted by the larger company) are the ones who are being treated quite sharply and nastily in some cases.
It is - as @9threefour pointed out - about empathy. And that works both ways.
I agree as well, @IsThisMajorTom, that WB is a big company and should be held accountable. And whilst we should be asking for answers (and the spokespeople on this forum are the ones to whom we direct our questions), we have to remember that it is the company with whom we are angry, and the company that we are holding to account. I personally feel like the anger has become quite pointed and directed towards individuals at times. Whilst this might be warranted when certain spokespeople give flippant, dismissive responses (such as edge cases), it does seem like Lola has received a disproportionate amount of backlash, when the offending remarks weren't made by her.
I don't know. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe anger and rudeness and making someone's life **** is the way to get the response you want in the culture you live in. But I woupd be very sorry to see that attitude lead to an upset and despondent employee who quits, when they have given so much to this game and this community over the last year.
Edited to add: Full disclosure, I live in a country and culture where any sort of confrontation, no matter how polite, is considered extremely rude, and you will be shunned for it. One never complains unless absolutely necessary, and then it is always done in a positive, polite manner, with plenty of acknowledgement of what is good. My manner here on the forum would be seen as the height of bad manners and an affront - so the way that some posters have addressed moderators and each other would be unthinkable (and would be a sackable offence in the workplace, or could have you forceably removed from a shop or business). Whilst that is more sensitive than most countries, I would still never consider behaving this way in either my country of birth or that of my parents.
@kiheikid I think the honorable member belongs to the opposition - I'm nobody's whipping boy 😉 But thank you for linking that post, I must have missed it.
I do most certainly disagree, and I also know several mental health professionals who would disagree with that sentiment, and the idea that emotions are unhealthy.
He is entitled to his own opinion, of course, but I feel like venting is cathartic, as long as we remember that we are dealing with human beings.

I think its clear, it can't be true
The main problem with this situation is that the current event should be postponed.
And it's not.
Basically the last few operations made me not play this game anymore. What a way to k*ll enjoyment, WB.
I didn’t get any fragments back .. can I be added to the list please?

Mu point with my post is the majority of us players lost so many fragments and to add insult in niinnnk
I’ve noticed pics are being included. Is this necessary to get on the list, or get a response?
