I have experienced this, but only with Dark Chamber 5. The ticker gets close to 0 and it looks like all 5 have joined and then at the last second, several drop and it might just be two left trying to do the impossible. Quick decision to abandon runestone may save a lot of potions.
I can guess there are a lot of folks who get some abstract amusement out of the process, but when you can't see or hear any reaction, what's the point?
Anyway, for those leaving for legitimate reasons, please do so as early as possible to give those who were hoping to stay a chance to bail before the Timer expires.
I don't believe these things I am seeing are game glitches or they would occur in all chambers. What I saw seemed to be unique to Dark Chamber V. I just stay away. Not worth my time.
There's a thought I keep having on this issue regarding the timer.
1). You're under a full 5 and the clock is at a minute - 45 seconds, the timer adds thirty seconds if someone comes in or leaves. This allows all players the choice to back out if needed.
2). The timer hits 30 seconds all players are committed to the run and unable to back out. If you are under 5 people in the group and someone comes in, that adds time to the clock and you have the chance to possibly leave again.
3) The join button is disabled under 15 seconds. You can change your runestones, but not back out of the run.
If there are less than three people / professions in the run then at zero a pop up asks for confirmation of all to continue.
Not ideal and far from perfect, but just a thought on stopping the last 5 seconds of people bailing.
Another thought would be to show profession icons while you are choosing your level to at least show who's already in the chamber waiting.
And even I have a whole bunch of conflicting thoughts on the above ideas.
With regards to #2 @Bormacska, it wouldn't remove the problem, just push it back. If you think you have a good team with 35 seconds left, and then two people bail with 32 seconds left then you'd still be stuck unable to leave and forced to do the battle shorthanded. You'd just have 30 seconds to swear at your phone before it happened.
On Reddit there was a similar discussion, and guess what - a person (to refrain from a lot of other possible descriptions) explained and defended that behaviour:
Apparently, some groups who want to go into battle together and with no one else go into chambers they want to go in, and if anybody is already in there, they go out again, and do so repeatedly, so that, in that person's words, those players who were not part of the group "should take a hint" and leave the chamber so the group could play together.
It was pointed out to that person that there were two problems:
A) How exactly was anybody supposed to know they were expected to take this as a hint to leave the chamber? and
B) Why couldn't the group just wait until the chamber was empty again?
Let's say the answers weren't exactly friendly, understanding, or even remotely polite. (Apparently, waiting was inacceptable, because they were more of them, or something.)
So if I ever encounter that again, be assured, over-entitled brats, that I will squat in that chamber until the very last second. Only to re-enter it immediately again. And squat again. Because there are indeed people who need to take a hint out there.
Hello and welcome to the forum. Help will always be given to those who ask.
I hesitate to comment here. As there was been a lot of tension, conflict, and antagonizing on the forum lately. Previous is a general statement and is not directed to you. Trying to be transparent so that my tone and intentions are not misunderstood.
I will start with 1st I am not defending ditching any players in any chamber on a short clock. Not cool don't do it if you can control it.
Polite answers to your questions
A- without communication or until hopefully get can get private codes, a player can't know who is a group. The group can leave with generous time on the clock.
B most groups do enter empty chambers but the lag bug from the 2.13 update complicates thats. Player 1 enter an empty chamber then because of lag it may have 4 players by the time player 1 actually gets in.
I understand how to a player not in the a group, with no way to communicate can misunderstand or think the group is trolling. This may not explains all situations but here is the situation from a different perspective.
I have many international friends and we have wanted to play together since the beginning. Short of expensive travel not possible.
Enter the Knight Bus. Yeah we can finally Fortress together.
Now there is a much as a 13 hour difference between our timezones. We have discord voice channels to coordinate our Fortress sessions. Getting our full well balanced team together is a challenge.
Next we have to find each other- 1 of the five of us anchors a low chamber. While the other 4 of us hopping on and off the bus looking for a gold badge. It might take 5 minutes or 45 minutes for us to "find" all of us. We watch the clock and make a good faith effort to leave with 1 minute to 50 seconds on the chamber timer. When we leave.
Once we finally find all 5 we head to a high chamber and yes usually it's D5.
We only jump into an empty Fortress chamber. But several of us have a bad lag between tapping wanted chambers a d runestone screen. ( This is a well known bug). And it is completely possible that another player to get the chamber 1st. Team leaves. Repeats process until all 5 player are in the same chamber. We worked hard to arrange a Fortress session. We may be teaching group strategies. We may be allowing a player in our group go elite hunting, we may be unlocking higher chambers to players who have only solo'ed. We may just want to play with a group we know.
Different spin some times we only have a partial group and a happy to have an player unknown to us join us.
If you read to the end thank you. It's is too late and I am too tired to be more succinct.
There is nothing wrong with playing in a team and wanting to play together. There is also nothing wrong with leaving a chamber if you don't want to play in it, and that includes a player not in your group.
What is wrong, however, is then jumping in and out of that chamber, intentionally risking stranding the "stranger" alone in the fight, because anybody thinks they "need to take a hint" - especially since, sorry, my crystal ball is foggy, how am I even supposed to know what is going on?
I sincerely hope there will be ways of solving those problems in the future, like choosing busses and private fights. (But thanks to Niantec for rolling out the Bus as fast as they did during lockdowns. Can't expect it to be perfect at that speed.) But until then, groups can't expect non-members to smell what's going on and bully them when they don't. Which does not seem to be what your group is doing.
@Akex131415 I agree that bullying tactics are uncalled for and just awful behaviour. But I think what @Owlx is trying to say is that sometimes, the hopping in and out isn't intentionally putting pressure on, but lags and people trying to find friends genuinely.
For the record, I am one of those group players who is 14 hours ahead of the majority. Yes, it does involve a 6.40am alarm on Saturday mornings.
Sure, but in that conversation I referred to it was intentionally used as a bullying tactic. The same persons jumping into the same chamber again and again to make people "take a hint".
If you really want to just be with your friends, check if they are in, if not, go out again - and then wait until the chamber is empty again before going in again. Problem solved. No need to drop indecipherable hints. No problem for anybody.
@Akex131415 I see what you mean. It's easy to misinterpret comments here and even more confusing so on the bus. I have faith the awesome @HPWUTeam developers will come up with a private code or ticket for friend groups. Of course they have had their collective hands full with the fragment solution. And that is a much more important issue to solve.
Our conversation to clarify is why I commented despite my initial hesitation.
I hoped better understanding of your issue.
Thank for your reply. It and a good night's sleep helped.
I think some people get cold feet at the last minute. There are also glitches. I have been thrown out of battles numerous times but been able to reengage. I have also been thrOwn out of the chamber completely and not always able to get back in. Let’s not make lists at this point.

how anybody can check if I am in if I can't wait in chamber for friends (according your "instructions") :)

Developers, here’s an opportunity. Sell Group Battling Bundles with a single use admission code which could be shared with the group.
