I am glad to hear that we might be getting back some lost fragments, but there is still another issue pertaining to the fragment loss:
For those of us that lost so many challenge fragments and had to rebuild up fragments to prestige, will there be any compensation for the loss of skill books that we would have been earning from prestiging individual foundables at gold? Even if fragments are restored, there are not many of us that are still missing out on dozens of skill books, that we would have earned.
@hpwulola can we please, PLEASE focus on the knight bus issue BEFORE ridiculously running the Community Day. SO many players will be locked out due to the poorly executed update!
If this resolution truly restores my lost fragments I will be able to trust Niantic again. At least a little. Who knows, I might even spend money again... maybe.
Just to put this somewhere official - I too prestiged all my pages before the warning telling us not to was sent out. I'm glad to see there is effort being made to restore some lost fragments.
I couldn't care less about the common, easier foundables, but I lost so many severe and emergency ones. Not to mention doxies where I'm never awake early enough to catch them but managed to get to 100 during the poacher day. Too bad I ended up back at zero needing 38.
Your update is much welcomed and appreciated @hpwulola I do still cross fingers. If this give us the fragments we had previous to the update, it's going to be an amazing update.
The only things I am not really fond of are :
- The change of how many challenge foundable is now required, I liked the challenge of returning them all. I was still at silver on Joke Products and very close to gold but having accomplished the 3 book pages made me so glad. With my group we used to compare these but now I don't see us doing that again. A bit like the regular registry but the number required was too high for their rarity.
- The image in the registry. I really liked it when the color got darker the closer you were to the number required.
But I think these are minor and up to taste. Still these are changes I don't really understand why they were implemented.
There's still the knight bus which is aparently buggy for some people. I hope people will be able to enjoy the CD
Hello. I tried to join a fortress challenge. The check mark never showed up. I tried again and again but eventually left the group prior to the timer reaching zero. I tried to join another fortress battle but it said I was already in one. I tried to restart the game but when I returned to the knight bus I couldn’t click anything or even scroll. Eventually I deleted the app and reinstalled. Now when I log in my avatar stays with its arms held out and I cannot interact with anything on the map. The knight bus issue is still the same as above as well. This seems like a server side issue. Please help!
so instead of restoring lost fragments to those who actually got screwed over, every person in the game gets a reward pack, even those who didn't lose fragments. I spent a lot more money in this game than 250 gold. The reward pack is cool, but it doesn't really mean much when everybody gets it. I would have made a lot more XP by being able to prestige the pages that I've now lost
Perhaps @hpwulola has more specifics. Let’s let her update us before we have a repeat of this past week. She said they were working on a solution to return lost fragments. So until we hear otherwise, we should assume that is still the case.
Either way, this update fixes some key bugs, which is definitely a win.
@hpwulola With the new update, it looks like all players are being compensated for the issues. Those that lost hundreds or thousands of fragments, which led to losing dozens of skill books and a lot of wasted resources, including gold, keys, energy, etc.; get nothing for all of their losses, due to a bug!? You clearly stated that your team was finalizing a resolution plan to safely return lost fragments. This doesn't look like a resolution at all. Those of us that lost our fragments are still out a lot of time and effort.
Hi, I want to reassure you that we are working on a solution still! Our timeline for the fix has been slightly pushed back, I'm having a colleague put together a longer update about this to share on the forum either later today or tomorrow.
That store pack is just one part of our resolution, please reassure your fellow players that the team is still working on a fix for this!
I am going with a positive presupposition that isn't the resolution. It in no way addresses the concern that we have raised. It would widen the gap even further. Our fragments are what need to be restored. I will hold out for the official announcement.
I’m still a little confused about the new way the registry is supposed to work, but I think in the long run I’ll be really happy with the changes. I have a fair amount of gold pages, and tbh achieving gold has always been bittersweet for me, because once they’re done, they’re done. I’ve really liked that I can get added xp for repeatedly placing an image, even if I can’t prestige the page anymore. It also helps it suck less when I’ve placed every image on a page except ooooone rare foundable, and I’m waiting and waiting for that one thing, but I keep coming across other things from that page. 😂
Thank you for everything you do. Life isn’t easy for anyone right now, and I’m sure the people working on this game are no exception. I am so thankful that despite all the challenges you may be dealing with in your personal lives, you are constantly turning out new and interesting updates and events for HPWU. When will the Knight Bus bug be fixed? I am on iPhone 11 with up-to-date IOS. I keep getting these lovely notices about Community Day and future events but I can’t even do a basic Wizarding Challenge. It’s reducing my joy in the game and reducing my desire to play.
I am having the same connection error message as @Pumpkinmunchkin and another in this thread.
I have contacted support several times and reinstalled several times( and cleared cache,force stop, etc).
Every single time I have something point me to the registry, be it me forgetting and accidently clicking, having a full fragment count from a trace, or a few other creative ways of getting there, my game freezes and needs to be restarted.
It is making the game quite unplayable, although I've been hanging in there that it might be again, it's been almost a month and a few events since...

Haven't wanted to risk playing since it happened so I also appreciate hearing that it's supposed to be safe to play.

@hpwulola That sounds encouraging and no small amount of work.
I assume that it would basically involve:
1 - Restoring the data prior to the database modification to a server cluster, exporting all fragment counts of all players via query.
2 - Exporting all fragment counts again at a determined time after the the rollover correction was "fixed" to determine lost fragments.
3 - Doing a flash export of all current fragment counts prior to correction to determine fragments legitimately obtained since the error.
4 - Determining and adjusting all player corrected fragment counts.
That is no small amount of work, and I look forward to my restored counts should it prove successful.

And what is this Compensation for? Most of hardcore players have exceeded amount of books.
if we don’t get our fragments back, that’s waste of one-year-activity-gameplay
