Personally, I gained more than I lost. So I don't care. The only complaint I have, is that I'd like to see the green star during the encounter as well.
My wife on the other hand... She was close to prestige the wands page and several other challenge pages.
For that she played quite the few higher level fortresses. With purchasing the necessary potions and packs to help out. Needless to say, she is less than amused.
Yes it's just a game, no we don't have to "just move on". It's a f* up and we don't need to be happy about it.
Same as you would give someone your wallet to go buy something and they lose it. Yes, they screwed up. Yes, it's wasn't on purpose. But that doesn't mean you need to do a happy dance. We can be upset and voice it.
Communication wise, it wasn't that bad (and, given the track record of Niantic, quite the surprise).
Within the hour, there was a message to warn us.
Especially with these trying times, it's not that bad of a timeframe to push out the notification (collection of the complains, going through the chain, confirming the issue, going through the chain again, take a decision, going back through the chain, pushing out the message).
As for the question if, just issuing a warning, was the right thing to do... Let's say Niantic and I have a different opinion.
For a roll back, it should have done it instantly. Because the longer they wait, the more complicated it will be to do it right.
I won't hold my breath to see a rollback. They blew their chance.
Knowing Niantic, they went oops, shrugged and moved on. And when this blows over, we'll be getting a present with a handful of energy and maybe a few coins. Problem solved. Way too much time passed for a decent fix like a roll back.
It's always a flowery assumption to think if you are nice to people they will be nice to you. Only works if both parts have that mindset in mind.
Going from that thinking, one could expect "To compensate the love and dedication of our players we will do what we can to see your loss recovered/compensated properly." In reality, it's a company that will probably just pick some numbers , do some statistics, and measure profit vs loss and take a decision based on that. It's unfortunate, but that's how it rolls, specially in the gaming industry.
That's why we plead, that's why we cry for justice. To appeal to the nice side in people and hope that we can get a response based on what's best for everyone, and not only for their pockets.
But I agree respect has to be maintained always. We must maintain a level head in our request, and maybe keep good faith that they are doing their best. Currently people are quite stressed and end up being disrespectful out of sheer frustration. That's unexcusable, but it is also for them to understand. The ball was dropped. The update was sloppy. People saw their investment go down the drain in an instant flip. It's our choice of investment, yes, as is our choice to revindicate what was taken from us through a mistake that was entirely on their end.
We might not be entitled to receive anything, they maybe don't need to give any information or excuse (I'm not sure what's written in the ToA and I'm not willing to look atm), but a strong community is built only through proper interaction and communication. Be respectful, but also be honest and open. And people will be more inclined to do the same. Serves both ways.
@EYSorcerer 65 is just a softcap. You can go to 65* and every time you would normally level, you receive all of the benefits of doing so. There would not be much benefit to increasing the cap number itself.
@BusStopToyShop you brought up a lot of valid points & I'm grateful in respect to the excellent way you worded it to express your viewpoint. I sincerely mean that. The vast majority of my post was in reference to how people treat each other & name call etc over the course of the past few weeks. Nothing I wrote was ever intended as a slight to anyone in regards to devalidating their viewpoints, concerns or frustrations. It's disheartening in the aspect of players voicing their anger & the degree of cruelty that many push behind their words without a second thought as to the aftermath I suppose.
On a much lighter note. I do see where you're coming from. I wish everyone would respond in turn as you have with opinions, frustrations & other points of view. It's refreshing & I genuinely appreciate how you approached my post without unnecessary cruelty, or low blows ignited by anger or irritation, what have you. 😊 Truly. Thank you for that. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/weekend! 🌞🏝️☮️
People have right to be angry, people have right to be frustrated. People have right not to be polite about it. I for one don’t believe in being polite after being robbed in such big way. Robbed for my dedication to the game I loved, robbed for the hours I spent past two months to this game in semi-quarantine, robbed for hundreds of fragments I spent those hours to collect. All the events I participated now mean nothing. I’ve lost all those collected rare fragments, save for one exeption where I actually gained something. But that is cheap consolation compared to the hundreds of others that I lost.
Communication has been poor before and after this change. We were not informed about this change, I only found about the registry change through Twitter last Wednesday, from some other player. Never the official channels. Change this big deserved to be informed about ingame SOS Report, that is the reason it does exist. To inform players. If we can’t trust it to be used to something that really matters and impacts all players, then what is the function of such info-board inside the game?
The longer this drags on, the more I lose hope that this will be fixed. I fear that if the solution comes, it will only come after Brilliant Event ends, and in such manner that we will lose all the rewards gained from the BE. 15 Quidditch through the ages book are very big reward. To lose those too... I try to stay positive, but it begins to be hard. And if this will be swept under the rug, well, I will stop playing. Which will be a shame because I love Potter series, I’ve been a fan for over 20 years and this game brought a whole new realm in to something I love. And now this new realm has been ruined with a bad update.
I won’t deny it, this change, at least for the Exploration registry, is a good one, in a way that we can prestige the fragments over and over again, if we want to. I also think that they should have left Challenges registry as it was. It was called Challenges for a reason.
If only we had been informed beforehand, if only they would have done the rollback when they had a chance. People would not be angry, people would not be frustated. But now, it is this, and please do not come and tell me to be polite to the developers who ruined this game for so many of us. If they had listened to us when we were begging them to roll back the game, and to restart the update and the registry change, maybe we would be more polite and more grateful and happy about the update.
I don’t know if I will ever be able to trust any of the future updates, even if this gets resolved favorably to all of us affected. I don’t know if I will ever be able to look at this game the same after this disaster. I’ve tried playing, catching only BE fragments and opening BE portkeys, but the spark isn’t there any longer. I was so looking forward to the next Community Day event because it’s all about Fortress. I don’t even feel any excitement for the future events. Trust is gone, and once it’s gone, it’s hard to be regained.
Frankly, I don't remember anyone saying people do not have a right to their feelings.
They do not, however, have a right to spew invective, or any right to ad-hominem attacks. And I do not think civility is unnecessary, on the contrary. Being polite is - if nothing else - rather more productive than the recent outpouring of indignation and outrage.
However, of course I appreciate thoughtful explanations like yours @Nightmaritus and I can empathise with people's deeply felt confusion and frustration. I share some of it.
I may be reading too much between the lines here, and maybe what I say may come insulting, but that is not my purpose. Name-calling and that is never okay. It doesn’t bring anything good, and I see people attack in mean ways. I’ve never liked that.
But there are several posts here that to me read as ”be happy, all is rainbows and sunshine, this update is fabulous for all”. And those posts make me irritated. Like, I get it, the update worked for them. And it works for them like it is supposed to. I am jealous for them because I know it was supposed to be like that for all of us. Instead, poorly timed release robbed that from me, and from so many others. And for some users here to tell us to be happy about a game that was fun prior to this change/update, it just twists the knife deeper to the wound.
I don’t blame them for being happy, and wanting us bitter, grumpy complainers to be happy too. I want to be, I really do. I want to be able to enjoy WU, and be united with community full of amazing people I’m only now starting to find. But I just can’t be happy with this game, and with this update, not now. One day maybe, I do hope. But that day is so far away currently, and to start to get there, the developers really need to find a way to fix this.
Whatever resolution is ultimately provided should be scaled according to the magnitude of each player’s loss. I’m a lv. 50 player who has played from the beginning and spent a lot more time and especially money than I should have on this game. I was satisfied with the value I received, but so much of it is now gone. Instead of players looking forward to relaxing with this game it has now compounded the extreme stress players are under from the pandemic. I can’t think of anything that would make me want to ever spend money on this game again. Perhaps Niantic can... not holding my breath.
Ok so just a head's up for the "cash in" feature for foundables. If you don't cash in your extra fragments BEFORE you return a foundable which has some it will reset your counts. (See my post 1st page for the premise of the problem). I managed to find a 2nd Philosopher's Stone so I could prove that the extras can still be gone.
As i said, I had 18/33 fragments and it showed on the encounter. I wanted to return one and the screen result showed -8 fragments (so it could match the max fragments on the page). I didn't cash in to see if this was a bug (like the +2 fragments that sometimes appears when you return a maxed out foundable).
On the 2nd attempt I now have 10/10. So I tried to cash in and see if it would roll over the extras I had but no, the count resets to 0. Which means if you don't cash in all your extras NOW (assuming you still have some like me) you are not able to return the same kind because it will lose all your extras and won't roll over once you prestige. I don't know if this is intended but the only way to transfer your extras on the next prestige page is if you manage to find the remaining foundables to prestige and not return the others.
Lucky for me it's only a Philosopher's Stone.
Warning : tested in challenge. It's the same deal : cash in before you make any wizarding challenges as it's random, you don't have any control over what you're getting. I lost fragments from Portable Swamps as well. And I guess fortress foundables are about the same deal.
I must say it's a very strange feeling that i have when I play, I don't know what will happen.
Also remove the feature of the result screen going straight into registry when I can place a fragment for brilliant registry. I am going to be sick in BE events, I don't want to place the brilliant foundable multiple times, you're making me lose Family Points. If it worked like the regular registry it would be worth, but brilliants get you more points when they're maxed. I just did a 30 minutes session and am already fed up with it. You lose so much time and there's no way around it.

Ok so it took 1 day to post this because for some reason it didn't work and now it duplicated... sorry about that.
@Kodokmag I couldn't get the 18/33 before update, the 18/10 after update and the -8 result screen as it really surprised me. I didn't expect it to happen. But trust me : don't try to return a rare foundable that still has extras you want on the next frame. Otherwise it will lower your fragment count to the max available of your current frame. You will lose all extras unless you prestige them first (and even that I don't know if it's really fixed, I've seen reports that it's very inconsistent).
In my case I had 18/10, returned 1 Philosopher's Stone, instead of showing +1, it showed -8 then became 10/10. After placing the fragment, resets to 0. I lost 9 in the process.
I have an issue that I don’t know what to do with. I have finished a great number of foundables but didn’t click them in as I like to do a whole page at once (a habit developed from issues early in the beta). Now they’re all still flashing but rare foundables that I previously had a large amount of, for example 12 Dumbledores or young Tom Riddles, now say just 3. What happens if I click these in and prestige now I can with the count updates. Do I just lose all these? I haven’t seen any mention of recovering caught fragments in this scenario.
Running 2.13 on Android for a while, counter still resets to zero after retrieving last item and placing the flashing image. Lost quite a lot of items while following changing 0guidelines. Is there hidden counter that will get the true number of foundables restored after bugs are fixed or they lost foreever?
”Secondly, if I’ve screwed up in business, without realising, I really, really want to be told. And I don’t want people to be nice to me about it. I need to know how they feel, so I can figure out how to fix it.“
Why in the world would you not want people to be nice to you? That makes absolutely no sense. Let me tell you, if I mess something up, unintentionally and without malice, I very much do want to be informed and you bet your life it better be nicely. I don’t care how badly I’ve screwed up, that doesn’t give anyone the right to be rude to me. And you can bet that if someone lets me know I screwed up in a rude, derogatory, or insulting way, the last thing I am going to do is apologize for my mistake. I will try to fix my mistake because it’s the right thing to do, but once they have chosen to take it to the low road, I am under no obligation to be the one to take it back to the high road. They should first apologize to me for their attitude, and then we can move on to a more productive exchange of ideas and opinions.
@Kodokmag I meant a different thing. Tapping on a flashing image places it with full count like 3/3 and it immediately resets to zero, 0/3. Not always completing an item now results in a flashing image. Sometimes it just places an item ok. Overall, confusing behavior in the first place, spiced with several bugs and changing from release to release. Never seen a disaster on this scale. I am totally lost. Did anyone compile a clear set of new rules annotated with bugs and guidelines? I am trying to assemble it from pieces in this forum, but it is a challenge.
I've also lost hundreds of fragments (especially challenge fragments) due to not getting the message not to prestige. I warned my gf of it, and she wasn't impacted (and jumped from being several months behind me to having a good 6 more gold frames now...)
I still think it is strange how this mechanic works (still trying to figure out how it is intended to work). It just seems odd that you have to choose to re-place the image (for bonus), or not click it and carry over when you prestige the page.
I really think there needs to be a confirmation when re-placing images, and a way for us to click and view the fragment info without placing it.
I hope they come up with a resolution quickly, especially with the knight bus issues. It has added a much needed boost of fun and strategy to the game, but things like being able to see your teammates performance, option of adding them as friends, and adding a way to play with your friends are sorely needed.
I will wait patiently for a response, and hope that it isn't just silence.
@TwinGypsy, you knocked it out if the park, as always! Very well said!
Side note: It’s amusing to see the sheer number of brand new people to this forum who came here simply to **** at the @HPWUTeam. Are you the same people who never leave positive Yelp reviews for local businesses, but the second your waitress is slammed with too many tables you’re the first person to leave scathingly negative feedback? Where has that ever gotten you?
Patience, constructive feedback, and human decency. Just because you’re behind a screen doesn’t give you the right to be a ____ to others.
While I care little about "apologies" and "politeness", I think there needs to be an understanding that while various spokespeople have acknowledged there was an error, no one that I have seen from Niantic has "apologized". So before anyone calls on players to apologize for their reactions......how about Niantic extend one first?
Regardless of that, I would like Niantic to acknowledge the real problem, which is a complete lack of Community engagement when big changes are "planned", and I use that word loosely as anyone could see the possibility for a horrible error here.

My big issue is with the Knight Bus bug. This repeats on 2 Android & 1 iOS device. Do you not have a testing department?

@hpwulola Hi, hope you can tell something about the situation as soon as possibile.
Adding two problems:
1) Knight Bus so slow
2) spawn is dramatically lowered. Why?
Thanks

You lose so much time and there's no way around it.
i think there is max fragment count in reward page (the page come out after you win/capture) it says goes into familly/challenge xp.
but i never really compare/count if its really directly added or not (so many numbers 😂)
max fragment count only shows if the image is at max fragment isnt it
@Nightmaritus well put
@Elaeus
I am also one of those whose tapping registry even before update. So dont know how many fragment i lost. LoL
I haven’t seen any mention of recovering caught fragments in this scenario.
i Just want them to replace the emergency fragments that I lost. Those really hurt.
Running 2.13 on Android for a while, counter still resets to zero after retrieving last item and placing the flashing image. Lost quite a lot of items while following changing 0guidelines. Is there hidden counter that will get the true number of foundables restored after bugs are fixed or they lost foreever?
i think one of this update intention is to answer the need of many red spell book, max fragment requirement lessen
and bonus challenge XP for repetitive "mini prestige" is enourmous. i'm getting close to finish my lesson very fast.
@Bender135 the important thing for this update is FIRST prestiging your registry before tapping max fragment with green star.
upgrading prestige page NEED all the image have green starred (at least not for last one).
@BusStopToyShop You said:
I had issues with the knight bus button not responding , so i reinstalled it and it works now. ps love this gave soooo much
I've also lost hundreds of fragments (especially challenge fragments) due to not getting the message not to prestige.
That needs to change.
I don’t disagree with you @RexHav0c. The communication has always been lacking with this game.
