Torn - save brilliant runestones for next Brilliant event, or use them now for upgrading rank?

Even though I completed all the tasks within 24 hours I'm still upgrading my rank in the Brilliant event by continuing to capture unicorn and Buckbeak fragments, and continuing to unlock and use the brilliant portkeys, thereby earning additional scrolls when upgrading rank.
I was going to save all my spare fantastic fauna and flora runestones for the next Brilliant event, given how some folks had terrible luck in the fortresses when attempting to capture 3 acromantula fragments. But, I realized that using at least some of them for additional battles now would earn me more brilliant family points, and potentially more scrolls.
I'm wondering what happens to status earned in this event, does it carry over to the next brilliant event? I'd hate to use runestones to get part way towards the next rank upgrade, only to lose that progress and see my rank reset before the next event. What happened to the status of those who took part in the event during the beta? I am assuming also that the runestones don't magically disappear from inventory after the event, I saw it reported that the 7km portmanteaus stay and can be used after the event. I assume that means one can continue earning rank when one uses those portkeys between events (given some of the rewards are family XP), and potentially rank up and get rewards? And I am hoping the same applies for runestones.

I an using them while I have them. Hagrid needs our help and after all he's been through that's good enough for me.
I have been holding onto mine once I finished everything. I’m not sure if that’s the right thing to do or not.
I decided to use a few of the runestones and keep a few. I'm kinda done with helping Hagrid for now, I got to level 20 in the Brilliant event, and I don't want to deal with any more Hippogriffs or Unicorns, lol.
I think I will hit event rank 23 by the end of today. I plan to save a Runestone or two... just to see what happens. Maybe it will be simply be a collectible item? Keep one Runestone from each event maybe?
I do enjoy the 5 scrolls per family rank, that is nice.
I finished the event today and have quite a few left. I think I'm going to throw them all into use tomorrow whilst at work just to use then up. Can we get the guys to remove the baby Hippogriff as well when this event ends?
Yeah, I love Buckbeak, but he and I need some space! We’ve seen way too much of each other lately. ;P
I'm walking off the rest of my 7kms currently keyed to advance in the registry and then holding the other 7kms till next time just to see what happens
