I'm level 35 and from the people who prestiged most pages before the bug was fixed, or even announced on the forum. Today I did the rest of the pages, after HPWULola gave us the green light. But even afterwards there are some questions regarding gameplay. Because of that I played today way less than usual, out of fear that I'll mess something more and lose even more progress. It's not very encouraging to see how counters for foundables on the Challenges pages go from e.g. 40 to -30, -20, -10 etc and then to plus points after finishing a fortress battle. It does not feel good.
So, here's a specific situation: right now I have 21/15 Parvati Patil fragments. From a try with another foundable (severe at that 😣) I saw that if I now return another Parvati, the counter would go to -6, -5 etc, and then I'll have the chance to place the image again. I'm very close to prestiging the whole page (just need to open two more of the Community day portkeys), so I'd rather have the 6 extra fragments on the silver page than maybe the chance to have one or two extra ones from recent encounters. My questions:
If I prestige the whole page in the next days, would I get the extra fragments rolled over (in this case Parvati's 6 fragments)
Do the fragments really go away, if I return by mistake a foundable from which I have more than enough? Or are they supposed to roll over? From my try with the severe foundable, after I placed the image, there were no extra fragments to be seen - the counter was at 0/5.
In Pokemon Go, when the truncated players "Stack" (uncaught reward pokemon) prematurely before their announced date, they did restore all affected players lost pokemon (and more), so at least with POGO, they do have the ability to go to a backup individually by account and restore. Don't know if HPWU uses the same storage structure/backup though.
But I as I said before, I am agreed. If they can't give us back what we lost, there is no reason to continue playing the game, as what we get will just be taken away at a later date again.
If any of you do uninstall the game because of this issue, be sure to leave a review in your relevant app store. New players deserve to know what positives and negatives exist for the game and its moderation.
I have felt for awhile now with Pokemon Go and with Wizards Unite, Niantic would benefit from creating and hiring a communications department. A lot of the issues with these two games could be easily resolved if they had strong messaging prior to updates with hard dates instead of posting, coming soon.
Okay, so having finally gotten the time to update all of my registry pages, I think I have a more of an idea of why so many people feel cheated. It worked for me, I think, and now that I have seen how it’s supposed to work, I can see how it would be very frustrating that stuff was lost. It’s the unfairness of it that is the problem. Seeing all that I gained makes me feel really bad for those who didn’t get that. If no one got that, it wouldn’t be an issue, but it’s really not fair that some did and some didn’t.
Thank you to everyone for your patience. Selfishly, I still hope you will give the game another chance because I’d hate to see you go.

While I dont mind the changes, I am not very happy at how this was implemented. I am not one who prestiged all as I had read on a telegram chat that there was issues and to wait for the download update.
I like many others never got the message in game to wait for that update or any other info telling me not to do anything. So when I got the update and downloaded it, I went ahead and did all my clicking/placing/prestiging.
What I am NOT happy about the the lost fragments on the sever/emergency traces that I have spent alot of time trying to find, potions and spell energy to get when they did appear.
Exanples of this as someone stated (sorry cant remember who) "extra fragments from foundables that had NOT been placed." those extra fragments DIDNT carry over because you hadnt placed image to begin with to get the prestige option
So I was ONE away from having all the quidditch potters I needed with old system to be able to prestige the page for the first time. Was SOO excited when read of the new changes/amts. Placed that image first and then hit prestige and the rest of those HARD TO GET emergency fragments were GONE. I had enough to be at GOLD for that one fragment.
Another that was noticable for me was I had never prestiged before and was waiting on 2 more to be able to do so was page with Professor McGonagall. Clicked to place her and then presitged page and BOOM lost the rest of the fragments of her that I SHOULD have had moving forward.
I sure hope something is being done to counter this as these very rare fragments along with those from fortressing are what is most upsetting to me (and many others I think). We spent alot of time **** to get those numbers from fortresses which are NOT guarranteed to get a fragment. Some paying for runestone packs to grind or spell energy plus there time. Compensate us with SOMETHING please.
One plus with this update, I did find 3 McGonagall's just sitting at home. But no Quidditch Potter which should be showing up with it being quidditch month of events.. So does seem like at least some sever/emergency traces are pushed more now. Hard to tell when I havent gone out since the update where I might see more than what I see at home.
@mysteriousD I’m not sure if this is the same issue you have had, but most of my foundables that I placed said 0/whatever afterwards. If I could prestige the page, those extra foundables showed up once I did that. If the page wasn’t ready to prestige, backing out of the registry and then going back in made them appear. It can’t hurt to see if this works for you, maybe?

On the bright side, now leftover runestones from past Brilliant Events will be more useful, because it appears we can place their fortress-specific rewards (3/3 stickers) again multiple times for a bonus 1,000 exp each time.

I hope the team isn't too devastated by this hurricane of upset messages. But I understand why invested players are mad at this update.
In my opinion this update could work if you manage to fix or compensate for the problem of players who prestiged pages too soon for one thing.
But most importantly we need some challenge and I think especially to the challenge registry pages which are way too easy with the new fragment count. Because I don't feel it's gonna be satisfying to place images again and again on the same page without seeing some progress in one way. So I hope you will add higher levels soon and give us proper challenge from fortress fragments.
I'm sure you didn't intend to hurt players but for the future I think you should more prepare for such a big change by communicating much earlier and taking advice from your players community.
Anyway thanks for making this game which I like a lot but please give us back some challenge ;)
So...I see @hpwulola ’s response #194 that it’s safe to prestige now, but for those of us who prestiged before the warning was sent, they’re still working on a fix, right???
I have a ton of Prestiged pages with everything sitting at 0/14, 0/30, etc. I need my fragments...
Not sure if anyone has noticed. I was one of the unfortunate to prestige the pages before the safe to prestige announcement was made. Now some of my pages that has not been prestige before have shimmering fragments. When I click on the shimmering fragments, the count becomes ZERO. This means that my fragments has been lost effectively.
Can someone help me to understand what is going on?
I had some of these test tubes and they disappear after I touch them when they are shimmering.
Unfortunately, I was one that placed and prestiged before the warning went out. That being said I am mostly happy with this update. I do hate that I lost some fragments and would love to get them back. If I don't, I will get over it. I did managed to get alot of pages prestiged and was able to level up to level 40 and was also able to upgrade my profession. Have been playing since almost day 1.
What's missing in this mess up is a clear confirmation that they are actually trying to fix it so that those of us who lost fragments get them back.
In the absence of that it looks worryingly like they're just hoping that if they say nothing then the fuss will die down and they can get away with some minor, universal, 'sorry' store pack.
Prior to the update the registry was tracking how many of a foundable you'd seen and, critically, caught. Following the update I could only see a seen count.
If the caught totals are still around in the back end then this could be fixed - if they want to fix it. Run some sort of code combining totals of caught foundables with existing status on page (count number and page prestige level.)
Worst case they'd wind up giving people hit by the bug that stripped their gold prestige pages away a second lot of scrolls and runestones. But players dedicated enough to have multiple gold pages throughout their registry won't be short on either of those things anyway. They might wind up with more than the test of us but it's like comparing millionaires and billionaires to the general population, they were so far ahead of us anyway that the extra seems irrelevant!
@FireNightingale I mostly agree with what you've said - see my post on the other thread which in parts says the same thing. But what you've missed is the motivation of the heavily engaged players - which was to complete something not many other people had achieved. That's what's been stolen from us with the update. I couldn't care less about getting missing fragments back. What I care about is that things I invested hundreds of hours of my life into, can now easily be achieved by anyone.
So 48 hours on and other than a rather vague “we’ll look at what we can do” there has been zero information about what will be done for players who prestiged to early. The response someone posted on here fro WU support tends to indicate that not much will be done at all and I’m starting to think that will be the case . Please prove me wrong! Any update?
I cannot prestige pages at all - I have two that I should be able to, but can't... and if Niantic can't unwedge its head, I'll be gone again permanently. And I'll take my P-Go dollars away as well, as sheer punishment for the annoyance their rank incompetence, stupidity, ineptitude, and excrescent customer service has caused me.
Added to the 2.13 "update" announcement, might as well add here too: there is a bug that if you collect a fragment of something you currently have extra fragments of, the extra fragments disappear, including the one you just got.
@Magicforest I got stung by this before I worked it out. The green star means it has already been placed. If you want to carry fragments over, don't tap anything with a green star. Tapping it cashes in your second full image for more family xp.
HIDRAZONA I have seen the same effect. It is not just that the prestiging of pages removes the additional fragment count but just collecting a foundable from the map removes my additional foundables.
I had a foundable with 12/5 and after collecting one from the map it was 5/5, the additional 7 already collected plus the one I got did just poof and gone.
Only reply I got from support to general problem is, that they are aware of the issue and I should wait until there is some solution...

I have tested this method and if followed correctly, it does work:
Exiting from the Registry to the Map can be substituted for restarting the app.

If the green star were reserved for gold pages only there would not be any confusion. I too have fallen foul of collecting before prestiging

Thanks for clarifying. If I don’t tap on the shimmering fragments, the fragment counts stays at max count.
