I’m not going to wait weeks just to find out that you’re not going to do anything and that you’re just going to drop the problem again you have until the end of the brilliant event or I and a lot of people are going to be leaving. Times ticking.
What I don't understand about the design of this update: If it worked as-intended, with no flaws, then someone on a bronze page might have had enough surplus fragments to get up to gold, while someone that just recently silvered would have nothing.
This observation -- and I did get a page to gold and multiple placements on gold -- tells me that this new idea was simply not given enough thought. And that's on the assumption that it was tested properly (also false).
Between insufficient map horns to make TTD's without going out and about, a new system that as far as I can tell makes FXP worthless (between runestone gifts and the small amount we have earned by bronze pages, we can now get the cheap family foundables), a complete lack of challenge or goal, ...
Other than the "completionist" in me that sees another brilliant every two weeks, and more restricted books for my profession, why am I playing now?
I've seen some problematic upgrades since I began playing this game, but this one takes the cake. I have absolutely NO IDEA what all this malarkey means. I was one of the suckers who prestieged early, before the notice not to came out, so I blew that. I installed the update. Then, a couple of hours later, I got a notice that I had to update AGAIN. Now I have shimmery fragments and green dots with stars all through the registry and have absolutely no idea what to do with them. I am scared to click anything anymore because I got hosed the last time. You need to release a VERY, VERY detailed explanation of how all of this gobbledygook is supposed to work. This game is quickly ceasing to be fun. If I had not actually paid so much real cash into it, I would simply delete it and walk away scowling.
This doesn’t answer whether or not it’s safe to keep catching things in the meantime. Since it looks like the BE will end before the “resolution” (a word which I’m guessing was chosen purposefully.. worries me that it doesn’t say a “fix”), I guess we just cross our fingers?
I can’t imagine being the frontman to this forum. I hope they give you better answers soon...
This does just not make any sense. As soon as you discovered the fault with the first update, you could have choosed to close the game for an hour or two, and do a rollback, and then make a new update, so no players would loose anything. I know I feel very cheated. I've lost a lot of fragments, and it doesn't seem like you're actually going to do anything about it. I have considered stopping playing, like I have seen many other long term players doing.
I prestiged everything before the message went out saying not to. Should I put in a bug report so that they look into my account or will they just know?
They should have pulled the plug as soon as they noticed the issue. Now it's late and they will likely give the excuse that it's too late to do a rollback. I'm hoping they are actually working on a way to rollback fragments to those that lost them... I can only imagine the **** storm if they just hand out a pack of runestones and a couple potions.
Level 49 professor. I also prestiged all those pages before the correction. With this terrible update, I feel my motivation for the game decreasing...
Even if the plan is to keep this new system of fragments count, the way the change was managed is not well-thought at all. Not even speaking about the bug.
For example, if someone found 43 Buckbeak since the start of the game, he would be at 32/33 in bronze before the change.
As I understand (I couldn't prestige anything since the correction since everything had just been prestiged), this should now give 32/10 in bronze, that can prestige to 22/13 in Silver and then 9/18 in gold.
And if someone found 44 Buckbeak since the start of the game, he would be at 0/49 in silver before the change. And he would stay there at 0/13 in Silver. That is completely unfair.
If a transfer of the fragments should be done, it should include all the fragments required to reach the current level and not only the fragments in the current level.
It would be good to have a green star when we click to catch Foundables we have already placed.
If I have a potion going or low spell energy I would want to only catch unplaced Foundables and now I have no way of knowing.
Also I hate how the pictures in the registry are all filled in straight away. You can’t tell at a glance which ones you need and when prestiging the picture does not ‘reset’ and looks the same, only the frame changes.
Another bug after the patch: if you catch a foundable that currently has more fragments than the required to place it, the extra fragments disappear, including the one you just got.
Still think it's a good idea to keep the update running?
I’m in the opinion that what was supposed to be a seamless update was done so horribly and was allowed to drag on.
Why was the new registry feature not adequately tested? Why wasn’t a roll back done early when problem was reported but was allowed to drag on? They could have taken a few hours to fix the problem and then let everyone know to please update their app accordingly before allowing them to prestige anything. But this did not happen.
And how long do we need to wait for a proper and satisfactory resolution?

I want to take the time first off, any mother's on your team---
💐☮️HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 💋❤️
But, to all of you on the HPWU team/family..... THANK YOU🌹 so very much for accommodating & truly working so hard around the clock to make things right for us wizardling players. You guys don't get enough positive responses & I feel it's important to remind you all of how wonderful your and are & the things you do that many may fail to realize upon being caged & trapped within their frustrations. At a glance the past several days (thru out the forum), there's an obscene & excessive overflow of negativity & downright appalling juvenile behaviour coming from specific players. Totally unnecessary. There's plenty on here that are voicing concerns appropriately & without nastiness interlaced. I thought much of the childish dialogue would be from kids or teenagers, but much to my surprise & disgust, the vast majority of vulgarities came from grown **** adults. Pitiful to witness/read such foolish ignorance. Name calling.....? Really.....? There's absolutely no excuse for that whatsoever. None. Definitely doesn't get you anywhere right? Ego & ignorance unfortunately poisoned & clouded the intellect of those adults. Lol wow. I've mentioned in a previous post, I've been pissed at the game, but kept my **** attitude although short lived, to myself or whatever I was angry about inside my home. I've lost Runestones, fragments, black out screen, been kicked out mid fortress, played fortresses where it looks like others aren't playing or that they're freeloading, I've had it freeze up just yesterday & I looked like I was freeloading lol. The game froze up, blah blah. It sucks, but not the end of the world. This is all a learning curve & I kindly say- that I think many players unintentionally fail to realize that. This is such an awesome game & you are ALL constantly & consistently might I add, trying to improve it for all of us. It doesn't happen over night. Your all at Niantic are so wonderfully receptive to concerns, suggesting & new ideas & actually MAKING IT HAPPEN. It's quite impressive, really. But, As the famous saying goes, misery loves company & I was hoping to flip the switch & offer positivity, recognition & compassion to balance & offset a bit. Though it may not be much, I'm only 1 person--- I believe it's important to read/hear positive reinforcement & feedback. (I'm getting there, keep reading 😁)
I know & very much understand frustration & the amount of money some people spend & not to mention the hard work & time many of us put in. I have put ridiculous amounts of time in (ask my hubs🤣). I can relate to all of it. BUT..... Flip side, I don't feel a large percentage of wizarding players realize, recognize & factor in the complexity of having everything run smoothly. Many players also forget to stop a minute & put themselves in the other side of the fence so to speak. Glitches happen. How many times has a person's phone erased contacts, or drafting up important work emails, getting ready to hit send & all is deleted by a server error, or whatever? How many times do cars break down, fiat tires, traffic jams happening, local grocery stores being out of stock of desired item? Online purchases getting lost. The mail taking 3x as long to deliver & arrive? What about power outages, weather issues, household plumbing & pipes bursting, furnace taking a dump, or as simple as the bottom of your gallon of milk splitting & ending up in the ground, or having an ice-cream cone fall to the ground before you even eat it?... Many of these things are uncontrollable, some are controllable, some are in between. It's irrelevant. I don't make a point to go screaming or cussing to the place I bought my tires when I got a flat tire 2 weeks later just to vent or get my way. Or **** & yell at the power company after a storm, cuz that'll get my power turned back on faster right? Sure as **** wouldn't help fix the situation. Point being. We're all human. Most people learn by making mistakes. It's inevitable. Again, we're all human beings. Humility & humanity should be practiced a bit more than it is in this world, & it's unfortunate that it's not.
I think you guys at Niantic have gone above & beyond consistently to accommodate to the entire world of players. You've all listened to suggestions, new ideas, questions, concerns... Especially to compensate & satisfy as many players as humanly possible in regards to the setbacks with the pandemic stuff in the world. You HAVE ALWAYS within your means, communicated to players as best as you possibly could & in as much of a timely manner as was able. Might I also add, your team has ALWAYS gone above & beyond to make things right with any setbacks in general. I think many players forget at their moment of frustration, that you all at Niantic service the entire world... Just alone on Google play, there's 291k+ downloads of the app. This doesn't include Apple store or The Samsung Galaxy store & any others that offer your WU app. I think much of what I'm mentioning, people are innocently oblivious to & may not have ever given a second thought as to how much you all do & the complexities that intertwine in providing the service of this HPWU game for all of us in the world.
Factor in: Different time zones, several different languages & to add in translations as they don't always compute smoothly from one language to the next. This isn't too mention different phone manufacturers, mobile & network providers/companies, GPS satellite stuff, interactive AR modes, settings etc.(I'm technology challenged, forgive me, I sincerely apologize for my ignorance in proper terminology). But I'm sure you get what I'm throwing down. I'm sure there's plenty of other things I've failed to mention that add into the attributes of building & running a game.
Nonetheless, it takes an astronomical amount of teamwork, communication, problem solving, multi tasking, feedback, trial & error----& I would have to wager an extremely large amount of revolving patience that constantly needs replenished. I would probably be borderline insane if I were to walk in any of your shoes lol. I'm sure there's many days several of you on the HPWU team are mentally exhausted. But you love what you do.
Please know how many of us are grateful for you. So many of us even since if the disgruntled ones are thankful for all your hard work. Set aside the **** infectious negativity for 5 short minutes while you finish reading & I ask you to relish in a moment to the people such as myself, who applaud you & are so thankful & appreciative for providing such an amazing game for us to escape to.
THANK YOU💛 for giving compassion & kindness to those players who couldn't play due to the world restrictions or perhaps themselves being sick. You adapted & made it possible. THANK YOU💜 for always responding to us & doing your best to make each & every one of us players feel important. You actually respond & many app developers & companies don't give their audience the time of day. THANK YOU🧡 for the long hours I'm sure many of you put in. The world is never ALL asleep at one time, therefore there's many of you go go go working 24/7. THANK YOU💙 for not giving up or throwing the towel in. Instead, the latter. You've kept the game going & alive & airways improving thru your own magic to bring so many of us joy & mental abandon from every day stresses & allowing many of us to be kids again. THANK YOU💚 for continually remaining down to earth, humble, understanding & compassionate to all of us. Truly. I may be just one person, anyone else feel free to pipe in. Positivity welcome 😘
But I hope you all at HPWU realize how much happiness you've given to me. I rarely ever play online games. This was a first. I am one of those people who missed their childhood so to speak. THANK YOU SO SO SO VERY MUCH💖 for touching my life for the positive no matter how small a difference or how trivial it may seem. You all undeniably gave me a gift that affected me for the positive. Playing for me personally, alleviates stress & worry, & it's helped so much more than any medication could provide for me. I've also made some incredibly phenomenal international wizardling fortress friends in the mix. I'm forever grateful & I truly mean that, for the magnitude of perseverance & resilience the HPWU team displays. Again, thank you for touching my life for the positive. You are all magically beautiful & magnificently amazing 💋🌞
@Zallazaer Indeed - in @hpwulola 's long rambling post, the word "sorry" doesn't appear once. And now 36 hours later, not a single update. I don't know what Lola's full job role is, but I can't imagine how there could possibly be anything more important in it, than providing updates to us - the people that ultimately pay the wages.
@BusStopToyShop Her weekend? Her personal life? You putting some money into the game does NOT mean that you own @hpwulola or anyone else. Please don't tell me you go into shops and behave like this, throwing a tantrum and threatening all sorts of things because "I pay your wages."
At the end of the day, there will always be a vocal, disgruntled group when change happens. And yes, this did not go smoothly.. And yes, it would be ideal if the team could come back with a fix to restore fragments (I do not, by the way, agree with a roll back, unless optional).
But the team need to look at the wider player base, not just the hardcore minority. These latest updates have made it more accessible to a wider range of players, whether due to location or whatever. I have friends who are now spending money in game because it is worth playing to them.
And I think, in all honesty, if the attitude the team gets continues to be so rude and entitled, you will be less likely to get the sorry that you want. I certainly wouldn't apologise to someone who behaved like they owned me.
@TwinGypsy What a beautiful post! And I am so glad that you have joined our little international fortressing community. We really ought to put together a little piece for @hpwulola 's monthly spotlight, don' t you think?
Hear, hear @TwinGypsy. Very nicely put. I also have endured many frustrations with the game (especially recently) and understand and empathize what others are expressing, but everyone is trying their best during these unusual times and I am very grateful to @hpwulola and the entire HPWU team for all they have done. 💜💜
This is my first and only online game so I have nothing to compare it to, but it has given me months of enjoyment and helped me through some difficult times.
We all make mistakes and yes, we all get upset but we move on and learn and grow from them.
Again, my sincere thanks to my friends who continue to provide me with spell energy, which is severely lacking in my rural area ;)
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers! 💐
@TwinGypsy that's a very sweet post indeed. Thank you for making things a bit lighter.
It's true that there are issues beyond people's control, and we can respect that. It's true that some people are being unnecessarily rude.
It's true, that sometimes there are bugs which are not immediately found when testing, such as the issues with the knight bus. They were annoying, but not game breaking.
But it's also true, that with the last update, money and time spent was lost with the problems that happened. For many people. Sometimes people's hard-earned money, and not-so-available time. This would be no problem whatsoever, if there would be a clear solution to recover what was lost, and if a clear course of action was stated and provided. Or even a message such as "this is an issue we have to check with x, y , z to make sure we can move forward with solution a, b c".
So far, we got nothing. Nada.
A few small bugs are no problem. Annoying, but ok.
Misinformation, lack of proper communication, lack of proper testing of a very delicate update overhauling one of the main aspects of the game? This is BIG. It's not a minor mistake, it's BIG. Take responsibility for it!
And the thing is people are getting nervous because "We'll see what we can do" is a typical sign of "We'll just let the dust settle and give some general low end compensation just to pretend we did something".
But people that invested in the game, monetarily or otherwise, feel cheated, stolen from. The people complaining here like the game just the same, and want justice rather than just leaving for any other of the 4839759 games out there available to play. And the worst is that the most affected are the ones that invested the most, specially those that spent heavily .
I, personally, hope we can get back the fragments we lost due to the several glitches that happened around this update. I really enjoy the game and was enjoying more and more with every previous update, with all the consideration taken for the current situation we live in. I liked the revamp of fragment requirements. This would make life much more enjoyable for prestiging pages, specially challenge pages. But losing the stuff we did before because of a glitch? No. Just no.
It's a game, it's not life and death, the earth will continue to spin and humanity will continue to move onwards with their doings. If you do good work, you get good feedback. And if you do sloppy work, negative feedback is to be expected. It's like that in EVERY part of life. And expect worse feedback the more you avoid the subject. It's simple like that.
I personally feel we aren't "ENTITLED" to apologies from anyone in all actuality, regardless of what we spend time or money wise. It is ultimately our choice whether to spend time & effort on a game as we all make our own "CHOICES" any which way you look at it. The nastier players get, the less likely anyone in general will be supportive or inclined to offer understanding.
In general, it's common sense that you get what you give or as the golden rule goes: Treat others the way in which you want to be treated. For those consumed & fueled with negative feedback, comments, character bashing, bullying, whatever you want to label it as. Stand back & put yourself in another's shoes on the opposite end of the spectrum. The entirety of WIZARDS UNITE is teamwork & coming together as in.. TADAAAA--
➡️➡️➡️ UNITE.
Nothing wrong with voicing opinions & frustrations, however maintaing a direct level of respect towards the staff & also to include other players is a given. Why is it acceptable for certain players to display an aptitude of disrespect, yet the HPWU team hasn't ever displayed or retaliated in the same likewise fashion? Bottom line, professionalism & why would they be inclined to stoop to such a disturbing level? I'm inclined to guess that if the shoe was in the other foot to the negative pot stirrers, if they got a taste of reality on the other end, they might change their minds in how to treat others. Doesn't matter what the staff salaries entail either. Moot point & who cares? Bottom line, they're doing the best with their abilities & they've never shown otherwise. I'm the least patient of people, yet I understand? Come on, come down to earth for a reality check.
The negative players who feed off of stirring the **** pot should have to pick the spoon clean. Every action causes a reaction. instead of fueling & prolonging the unnecessary negativity & appalling self entitlement. Bat Bogey hex back with positivity & kindness. Yes I'm serious. As the saying goes: **** em with kindness. If pissy players who lack integrity want to gripe, make your own blog to do so. Obviously these negative & foul minded players have nothing positive to do with their time & energy than to try & infect everyone else---ALL TO VALIDATE their feelings & therefore a feeble attempt to justify their crappy words & actions. That my fellow friends on the positive side.... That speaks volumes about their personal character & how utterly miserable & unhappy they must be in their own personal lives, to take it out on others or staff members. Don't give any back. If anything, pity those souls knowing you'd never stoop to such a pathetic level. I'll call myself out. I acted with behaviour like what I'm describing & have seen on the forum back in my middle school days. Age 12/13? That right there explains much of their emotional & mental capacity. Well, back when I was that age, & acted like that, I sure learned real freaking quick, really quick--that temper tantrums, bullying, name calling, justifying actions & not holding myself accountable, etc. That all contributed to myself staying stagnant in life in general. I've learned in my many years how to be humble & apologize & try to let go of my ego & learn from my past actions & mistakes Again we're all human beings. It's one thing to vent, but a totally different realm to be downright evil & cruel to others. Too many get stuck within their egos to ever admit fault or to ever hold themselves accountable. Blame shifting is another famous one that goes hand in hand with justifying ones actions.
I'm appreciative of the support & agreement from so many fellow friends/players. Please understand & muster up some compassion.... let it soak in a little while especially to those perhaps are in disagreement. My words are strongly revolving around respect & treating others with humility. I'm not taking sides as there's no side to take ---When it all boils down to common human decency & mutual respect given & received from one another. Again, thank you to the @HPWUTeam for your maintained professionalism & perseverance & being the bigger person at the end of the day. So many of us applaud your integrity.
Well said @TwinGypsy and also true @Hidrazona. Funnily enough I can recall a number of posts decrying never playing again after several other updates (they've had a few doozies) and a week or two later coming on to post comments about the next task. Not from either of you, but from various players. It is the circle of design. And humans in general cry out for change and then cry out against what they asked for. We are odd like that.
Yeah, okay. It’s a fair-ish point @TwinGypsy however I’ve screwed up in business plenty of times. And when I do, the first thing I do is say, “sorry.” If a manufacturer screws up and the situation is completely beyond my control, the first thing I say is, “sorry.” Regardless of who’s fault something is, the first thing I do is say, “sorry.” And that goes a long way towards helping people feeling better.
Secondly, if I’ve screwed up in business, without realising, I really, really want to be told. And I don’t want people to be nice to me about it. I need to know how they feel, so I can figure out how to fix it.
Thirdly, if I’ve screwed up in business, what I’m going to do next is tell people what I’m doing to fix it every step of the way, until it’s resolved.
So yes, I kinda do have an expectation that when I’m a customer that I’ll be treated the same way as I would treat my own customers. I don’t ever need a reminder of who pays my wages and yes, those people are absolutely entitled.
But yes, perhaps it is @hpwulola ’s days off, so maybe it was harsh to single them out. Sorry. Although I’m sure there’s someone covering the forums at weekends. Certainly the twitter help channel is staffed.

How about 'sorry, we screwed up'.
- lack of communication upfront in game about these changes
- poor testing resulting in a number of critical bugs, which you fixed really fast
- poor aftermath communication, people are still asking questions on the update

Bravo @TwinGypsy just bravo. Thank you for that and I have nothing to say because you said it all so eloquently!!🥰🥰🥰
@TwinGypsy Hear hear!
@TwinGypsy well said !
