This will be an unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but...
I quite like this new update. I get to see all the stickers, instead of staring at blanks when I prestige. I can benefit from those easy trace that I get six times the needed fragments. I get 1200 challenge xp every time I place a gold challenge family foundable. How can I not like the 24 red books I got today?
And a very dear friend of mine, who is a casual player, is so happy. She felt that only diehard players could benefit and she was always afraid to prestige because she didn't want the blank page. She is thrilled with this.
Yes, there were issues rolling it out, but I don't think it is the affront that many said.
Also, I just want to say a huge thank you to the team for trying their best under pressure, and keeping their cool, even though they were getting some pretty appalling abuse. I do think you need to be a little tougher at times (repeat offenders need some consequences), but I also think you have been incredible.

Generally, I think the team should be thanked for listening our feedback.
In this case, sorry, but I'm not happy. I've been playing since day one and I have lost all my fragments: yes, wasted time and effort.
Why should I be happy? I'm only asking politely: give me back my fragments. And I'll keep on asking because I think I am right.
About offenses you are right, they are not allowed and I hope that (as in any community) lead to consequences. Being right does not entitle to lose education.
Yeah I think the update has worked great, may have made the game just a bit to easy now, but ehy we will see. It's good that they dare to try new things. Leveling up you professions can be done like 10 times as fast now.
I don't think the game is that easy! I have been playing since day one in my country and saw my first Tom Riddle today. Still have a few wood / base frames left.
@Magpie31 I agree that it is nice that once placed on the base page, the picture stays, even after you prestige, just the green star goes away. It always felt sad that you'd finally finish the page and have all the images, then they are blank again. You miss out on getting to see the actual picture. I appreciate that change, while at the same time I wonder if it won't be as easy to see at a glance what needs to be prestiged. I'm sure I'll get used to that. Until then I'll enjoy looking at the pretty pictures!
@HOOTowl09 That was my thought too - the at a glance placement. But that is what the star does. If the star is there, it has already been placed for that level.

I think this puts a much needed pace into the game. Especially the wand fragments needed was at such ridiculous numbers, I haven't even looked at them to complete them, or even wanted to. Also, I (plus my partner who plays as well) found it frustrating to be unable to prestige a page because of one missing rare item (wild boar, mcconagall), of which you needed so many fragments it's been static for half a year. Now there are many more traces that 'count' again when starting their encounters.
Plus, faster image placement means faster rate of red books, which also became a problem for certain professions.
And for people worried that things got too easy: it's an evolving and changing game. If they detect many players 'completed' it, I will bet they'll come up with many more challenges.

I can't prestige ANYTHING. I left this game for over a year because Niantic handled it so badly. Now I come back, actually start enjoying it, and they jack it up twice as bad as it was before.

@PiscisAustrinus I was speaking for myself. And I said very clearly in the first post that it might be an upopular opinion. But given the amount of rudeness and vitriol on the forum at the moment, I thought it would be nice to have a place where we could say thank you, so that people who are currently working their arses off can see that it IS actually appreciated by some people.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if, at the moment, these people are dreading their shifts on social media. To deal with all this hate and rubbish when they are experiencing the same lockdown and virus fears as everyone else...!
So, without meaning to sound rude @PiscisAustrinus, because I can see that you are new to the forum, I would suggest that this is the wrong thread for your very rude and aggressive response. This was supposed to be a little place of calm and positivity - light in the darkness.
There are hundreds of threads out there right now that people are using to complain at the developers, be rude, throw tantrums and throw toys out the pram because you don't have the chance to do "mine is bigger than yours" anymore. Duck waving, that's all it is.
For the love of God, please remember that there are human beings on the other side of the screen.
@Magpie31 Currently I am too confused by what to place or not place. What the simmery image is how it acts on a gold page vs a bronze or silver page. I'll figure it out... later... Waiting for a good guide from a WUtuber.
I was also one of the (singing in Ursula's voice from The little Mermaid) Poor unfortunate souls who prestiged images and pages before the warning. So I can't say i love this. I can say I don't hate it.
I did discover "placing the simmery images from past BE"=1000XP. Also discovered that i can replace the past BE fortress foundable by using old BE runestones and every time I place 3 it's another 1000XP. So I like that.
OOPS! that's not working as it should let's stop.
I think time, patience and support will see us thru and be will emerge STRONGER UNITED.
@Owlx Good point on the green star and represtiging. It is confusing and not perfect. I would also like to see the mechanic change slightly so that to prestige a foundable, you have to tap the star / fragment count rather than the sticker. This way, you can still go and look at your item information and not worry so much about accidentally cashing in.
I don't think the system is perfect. But I do generally like it so far, and don't think the team deserve the vitriol they are receiving.
@Magpie31 good point. I like the way images shine though when they are ready to be placed. Perhaps tap the star instead to reach image data?hmm but then, what if there is no star or rather, an image hasn't been placed yet? How to access image data without placing an image... good question though for me personally, it don't matter much. I immediately place everything as soon a I can 'cause that's just the way I roll! 😁
Thank you @Magpie31, i quite like the new update too, just been a bit nervous about saying anything in fear of the vitriol that seems to be flooding this forum, especially from new members.
I log into this forum with trepidation at the moment, it used to be such a happy place and is now filled with such negativity, so its nice to see a positive message.
Obviously there were issues, but personally the game was starting to get a little bit boring. Certain registry pages had been ignored for months due to emergency/rare foundables that would never spawn, now i can at least collect the low foundables and keep cashing in for the extra runstones.....that being said, I do feel for the people that lost a lot of fragments, i only lost a handful before i realised things werent right.
Personally i hope they now release new lesson plans, i have 251 red books and nowhere to place them
@Emyferret Is that 251 after completing all 3 professions, or do you have a stash? I have about 165 at the moment and keep swinging back and forth on whether I should do a second profession.
@Magpie31 i havent attempted other professions to be honest, im quite happy being a professor, i think id confuse myself attempting the others 🙄
I have nearly 10k scrolls too, i can be pretty unlucky and i suspect if i used them on a different profession, they would open up the second lesson plan 😂
Here, here! Rollout was not how they planned but what're gonna do? The amount of red books I got was huge to my progress as a solo player who couldn't (until recently) do that much fortress work.
Absolutely agree with the original post- I love the update. The rollout issues aside- placing images for things I haven't been returning in months is so much fun. I am no longer blocked by emergencies on so many pages and can start making progress. Not to mention how fast I'm leveling up my challenge foundable pages now too! Overall, thank you to the developers!
