Friends question
Hi, I'm a relatively new player, and I was wondering if it was better to have friends in your area, or if it matters where they are. I noticed that I am doing a lot of solo tower missions.

Hi! So far I have only done solo fortress missions as well. I don't quite understand the point of friends (yet) as there is no interactivity like there is on Pokemon Go when they introduced friends. Regardless of having friends on the game- they will have to be at the same fortress as you to assist in battles. Hope you found this helpful! Happy playing! :)
Hi! i'm in the same boat although if you watch the video by SuperCarlinBrothers on youtube it shows them doing a battle together and they are in the same area.
I also have questions about this...is there any benefits to having friends who are not in your direct location?
I understand I could go to a fortress with a friend in person and and do stuff, but any benefits for a long distance friend?
My wife and I have yet to figure out how to group together for anything fortress or otherwise
What I would think, I’d first become friends. Go to your friends tab and have her type in your friend code.
Then go to a fortress. Both go to the screen that shows the levels, then you start a fortress run. She will probably have 20 seconds to join once she sees the person number change from 0 to 1.
I don’t have anyone to play with, but I think that’s how it would work.
My wife and I also play together.
To battle in a fortress you need to go to the same level. You can pick your own runestone and that will impact the difficulty and your reward type.
Note, you both have to do this before the timer expires, otherwise back out before the countdown ends and try again. We agree where we are going before entering the fortress.
Finally, while you can battle with anyone, battling with a registered friend will get you an XP bonus. So your best friends are the ones you play with.
When u want to take on fortress with a friend u should both in real life physically go to the place where the fortress is.
Having friends battle fortresses with you grants you bonus XP from defeating the floor.
@SecurityG you both have to be at the same fortress and select the same floor. The level and type of runestones you choose doesn't matter for teaming up but it determines the rewards that will be available after completing the floor.
If you fail the challenge of escape the challenge the runestones will be forfeited. If you back out of the challenge before the timer to start expires, the runestones is not lost.
The beauty here lies in the fact that you can go to any Fortress, anywhere, at anytime and do your thing. Not the case with PoGo. Makes things a little easier to organize with others.
I would suggest you do a little math and determine which Fortresses you think you will frequent regularly, and do that; frequent them regularly. Wizards have a way of finding each other, especially when they work the same turf.
I heard once "That which is like unto itself is drawn."
My wife (professor) and myself (auror) play together. The benefit is casting hexes and heals on each other and our targets.
