Successful Spell Casting

Maybe someone’s already pointed this out already and I just haven’t seen it, but I figured out how to see if your spell is going to be successful or not.

When you first cast, there’s two colored swirls. One is always red, the other depends on the spell (Alohomora is yellow, Ebublio is blue, etc.). If your cast is successful, the red swirl will be overtaken by the other color and the spell will complete. If not, then the whole spiral goes red and fizzles out.

    Where is this red spiral?

I've only ever seen red if I miss one of the red dots along the spell sigil.

@Violentology like whenever you do a spell like what @LemonHoneyGreen mentioned (alohomora and ebublio among others) idk if you've noticed that red swirl if you do a successful or even great cast; the respective color of whichever spell overtakes the red swirl. Unless your not successful then all you see is the red. Was that confusing? Lol sry if it was,I tried to explain

The way I perceive it, speed of cast is measured first followed by accuracy. Look at the slider at the top. When you cast quickly, it may start as a great cast due to speed of cast, but then accounts for accuracy which moves the slider up or down to reflect that. When you cast accurately but slowly, your cast starts at the low end due to speed of cast then moves up or down to reflect accuracy.

Edit: I believe colour reflects a combination of the two. I've noticed I can tell which way the slider will move depending on the end colour of the cast.

I have learned that if you trace the circle with your finger it gives a better chance to effective.

ANDOTH169 - Interesting that you're experiencing that. I'm not sure if it's just confirmation bias, but I've found that if I'm polishing the phone screen while the spell is swirling (which I do if my finger has stuck a bit while casting) then it seems to improve the likelihood of a successful cast, which is a similar thing to what you're describing doing. Might just be imagination/superstition - but, who knows! Maybe I should try it on that elusive Brilliant Unicorn to try to cut down on wasted spell energy!

I watch the black in the swirl. If it starts to disappear then I know I've got it. If the black stays then the trace didn't work. Fills me with so much anxiety sometimes. Especially when low on energy.

I like the possible tip about touching the screen with the swirl. I'm definitely going to try that.
