Potion: Felix Felicis
"Mine own invention, my masterpiece; the crowning achievement of my career. Bottled good fortune. Brewed correctly the drinker of this potion will be lucky in all their endeavours, but be warned … excessive consumption is highly toxic and can cause extreme recklessness. Fans of Quidditch were quick to protest that a potion which gives the drinker good luck was hardly fair and use of my potion was banned, quite rightly, from all competitive events … except potion-making tournaments."
(Zygmunt Budge)
Liquid Luck is a unique potion, both in terms of brewing complexity and drinking effect. And - as the initial quote mentions - has a dangerous side-effect.
Rarity
The Books describe it's brewing time as "Six months" and it's difficulty level as "advanced". Therefore it is unfeasable (and illogical) if it could be brewed by players. Instead it can be aquired:
- From the Shop for 1000g
- From Fortress-Levels "Forest 1" to "Dark V" with a very low chance (~1%)
Effects
The potion's effect consists of 2 parts, the active (benevolent) one and the "fading" one.
Belevolent:
It lasts for exactly ONE spell, regardless of which one the next is:
- Accio - will refill the Spell Energy to 100% (regardless of the type of Inn)
- Herbivorum - will maximize the output to 9 uses without consuming spell energy
- Protego - will reduce damage taken to 0 and reflect 100% of the unmitigated damage back at the enemy
- Combat Bolt - will be a guaranteed critical hit (100% Precision, 100% Accuracy)
- "Trace Spells" - will be a guaranteed success (100% chance to return the foundable)
Fading:
It will fade for a duration of 10 casts (excluding herbivorum+protego).
During that time, neither Exstimulo Potions nor Felix Felicis can be used. If an Exstimulo Potion is already active, its "stacks" are not consumed until the fading effect has ended.
Additionally, during that time:
- Accio - will refill only 1 spell energy (regardless of the type of Inn)
- Herbivorum - will not work at all (won't consume energy, won't empower the planted seed)
- Combat Bolt - will be a guaranteed uncritical hit or miss (0% Precision, 0% Accuracy)
- "Trace Spells" - will use the lowest chance of returning (the worst possible "fair" cast)
(Feedback is appreciated)

Wow, this would be FUN!
That wold be so fun in game. Although I’m convinced some people irl are already consuming Felix Felicia with the way they always come across rare spawns 🤪
I thought I was, @LeFayeofAlbion, but I’ve been informed it’s just rum, and apparently I need to stop bringing it to the office with me.
I need to reread this later in the day as I am not yet grasping the benevolent vs fading. Very tired at 4am!
@Acumen Hilarious! 😂
@Magpie31 Simply put:
@Lucoire Thanks! Never got round to rereading before your explanation! For the first time in 5 years, I have a visitor here in Bangkok, so have been showing her around. Long, long day!
@Lucoire thank you for thinking this through so well and writing it all out. I had wanted Felix Felicis soft Valentines Day but I didn’t have the description that you do so I really love it and appreciate it.
@Lucoire - Well done :)
How about a potion to prevent foes from dodging for the duration of a tower session?
Yeah, I know you were not looking for potion suggestions, but you are so eloquent...
@OriginalCaruso Well, one could think about repurposing the Dawdle Draught for that purpose (since the "dodging" / "escaping" cases don't overlap)
