Please stop weekday only events. Most of us work for a living ,others travel during weekdays and we miss out on these weekdays only events. At least extend these events to include one weekend. Please!

    HPWU has - from what we know - wide variety of audience:

    • Students - who during the week are in the city of their university and during the weekends are at home. For them, Weekday-Events are probably preferable since "home" tends to be a time for Family, not for Smartphone-Games.
    • Seniors - who really don't care about weekdays / weekends
    • "regular" 40h/5d workers - who would probably prefer weekend-events. That being said, I also know a few who avoid technology during their "weekends" since their weeks are full of tech stuff.
    • Shift-Workers - who would probably prefer events that run for at longer than their shift-switch-frequency is (which in most cases is 1 week, so events that run for at least 8 days are preferable)
    • School-Kids - who probably prefer weekday events when they're commuting to their school and spend their weekends differently (due to family-time)

    So, long explanation short

    Most of us work for a living

    is something that I consider an unfair generalisation.

    That being said, the February Brilliant Events are going to run for 8 days, making sure that all Audience-Groups can participate.

    Other events - like the "book event" or "Valentine's Day" or "Lunar New Year" have a pre-determined date and duration (where both isn't up for Niantic to decide - aside from a "grace period") - are most likely going to be annually, so you're not missing out forever.

    And monthly Community-Day is on one of the Weekend-Days.

    So, what exactly was the complaint about?

    Can’t we have events all 8 days of the week? 🤪

    Oh, if we're complaining about events being run during the week, may I complain about Community Days always being run on the same day of the week at the same time? It excludes anyone that works in Retail, Hospitality, and anyone else that isn't lucky enough to have a 9 - 5 job.

    At least the events run during the week give us a wide spread of hours so that we can find some time at some point to participate.

    We're given a lot of notice to rejig our social lives to put aside a few hours to play. Community Days? Not so much. If you work during that time and cannot change your shift/hours, too bad. You're excluded.

    Events during the week balances Community Days being only on Weekends.

    🤷🏻‍♀️

    Hear, hear, @ClairabusGryff ! 😍👍

    @Razorgirl if I recall correctly, the last couple community days were on Saturdays. It’s been a little while since we had a Sunday one, so we’re having one this coming Sunday. So it’s not always the same day of the week.

    @MrSciGuy ... Always a Saturday except for November and now February.

    February = 23rd = Sun

    January = 18th = Sat

    December = 14th = Sat

    November = 17th = Sun

    October = 19th = Sat

    September = 21st = Sat

    Yes, that’s exactly what I said. So it’s been mostly Saturdays but a couple Sundays now as well. Combine that with mini events mid-week that they’ve been doing, plus brilliant events all week long usually twice a month, and they’ve got the whole week covered at various points throughout the month.

    And if your work requires you to work on a Weekend (Retail, Hospitality, Public Transport, etc), you will never be able to attend a Community Day.

    Which is a start contrast to a Special Event running across three days and two nights, because even those that work during the event will have some time that they're not at work and can play/participate.

    I get what you’re saying, I do. But they’re trying to please the masses. And the majority of people most likely are not working on weekends. If they switched and did community day on say a Wednesday from 11-2, the vast majority of players would not be able to participate due to work and school.

    Overall, they’ll never fully please everybody.

    The absolute ideal would be a "start now" button for community days, where you have a 48 or 72 hour window to start your 3 hour community day. Then individuals and groups could schedule around their lives. But then, at what point does it stop being a community day?

    So, sat, sat, sun, sat, sat, sun ...

    That seems pretty consistent so far :-).

    If the goal of a community day is to involve as many local people as possible, then this setup isn't too bad. Really.

    You need a local time based happening, rather than always at 11 am GMT-8.

    You need a time when most of the local people can participate.

    If there is any serious complaint with the community day schedule, it's the whole "This event requires stuff you can provide from a greenhouse" along with "The growing time will not fit the schedule". See needing a 7-hour plant grown for this sunday.

    If anything, give us some way to find other players during community day. Right now, I could be wandering around for 3 hours in park 1, and not see anyone because they are in park 2 or dense historical section 3 or other tourist area 4. And I wouldn't know if they are or are not.

    Heck, I still cannot tell if there is more than one other player in the area, and I only know that there is one because I have once seen a greenhouse glow from being used by another player.

    The one thing I do during CD is put on my Harry Potter Quidditch Jersey and walk around with my nose buried in my phone looking for other people doing the same. So far I have met one person. So if you wear something that advertises HP then that may help.

    Local player today shared that she works in a Hospital and has never been able to participate in any Community Days because she is always working on Weekends. Not like she can ask a patient to stop dying while she goes to play a game.

    So if having Special Events during the Week means she can participate in events after she clocks off, I consider that to be a good thing.

    Rotating the start times for Community Days could perhaps be another solution. Super early morning start time one month, lunch time start the next, afternoon and into the early evening on another month. At least then it would feel like it was trying to be more flexible and inclusive.
