@kiheikid Glad you liked it! That is actually my easiest fortress at the moment, as I can get my apartment shuttle to the coffee shop next to it. That is actually pretty typical - most buildings have a shrine or spirit house like that and many of them become POIs, which is why we are so rich in inns and fortresses here.

My family and I took a quick trip to NYC last weekend. Lots of walking so inns galore to fill up on gifts.

I love getting the runestone gift from the Portuguese oven @kiheikid. As a Portuguese girl I give an audible "OMG" each time you send me one. My kids being my kids retort with "he's my God too". That one never gets old. It's up there with the "Hey!"/"Hay is for horses".

PS Runestones are my preference. There are a healthy amount of inns and greenhouses by where I get my coffee in the mornings.

Of course doughnuts! I haven't had them in years. Do you have Linguica out there or sopas (the Portuguese kind of course)?

@Li11ee - yes, you can find linguica in the supermarket, although there is more “shelf space” in the fridge devoted to hawaiian-style “portuguese sausage” (milder than linguica). you can find an older article on portuguese sausage in hawaii at this link:

    http://tastyislandhawaii.com/2007/05/13/the-great-portuguese-sausage-shootout/

we are especially fond of the “uncle louie’s” brand, which is made right here at their facility in town. as for sopas, they have not made their way to favorite food status among the general population here in hawaii’s melting pot (maybe at a food truck here or there) but i can’t speak for how prevalent among the local portuguese community or brazilian community (at potlucks). then again, it might be different in honolulu because of its bigger population, as opposed to the neighbor islands where we are.

@kiheikid I never knew the islands have a significant Portuguese population. I was raised in the central valley in California. Our county fairs actually had a Linguica booth run by the VFW because there is such a high number of immigrants there.

...and that is my life story. The End.

@Li11ee - indeed, the portuguese were one of the early waves of immigrants who came to work the sugar cane plantations. that particular forno in your favorite postcard was built by the sugar company for its portuguese workers in their settlement near paia, maui back in the 1920s and later moved to the present location at the sugar museum for restoration and preservation. here is an article link: https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM32NV_Portuguese_Oven_at_the_Sugar_Museum_Paia_Maui_Hawaii

@Owlx Microsoft has some fun spots. This one happens to be a pedestrian crossing on a major road. First time I've seen it give a gift!

@YoureAWizardTC & @Plan9 how fun! I wonder how conspicuous the site is?

i imagine that snow all around gets real old if you have months and months of it, but to one who has no snow at all, it sure looks nice.

@kiheikid Honestly we’re just starting to enter our winter season and have really only had one snowfall so far. I think that picture is just default snow all the time. I’ll be sure to send it to you again in July to confirm haha.
