Feature-Idea: Freestyle-Casting

So far the game is centered around "Trace the pattern displayed as fast and precise as possible". But for a given trace-encounter, there is ONLY ONE CORRECT spell for a given situation. You wouldn't fight a Dementor with "Aguamenti" or "Diffindo" and you wouldn't combat a fire-enchantment with "Bombada"

So why not provide an option to change the Casting style to "freestyle" (or "Memory"):

  • You're no longer shown what the pattern for the given encounter is
  • If you draw the "correct" pattern for the given encounter well enough for the app to recognize it, it counts as "masterful" (compared to the other casting style) - regardless of speed and "precision"
  • Draw the incorrect pattern for a given encounter and the trace will flee/dissipate.

Obviously that won't work for encounters and their corresponding patters that you never encountered - so unlocking this would require you to have seen ALL types of encounters and spells at least once.

Free Style will be great, but not for players who just joined. They will be like, the **** do I have to do with this creature when they encounter a Trace.

That would have to be advanced option, that you would specifically need to turn on, and I would probably not allow it to be turned on, before you reach specific Level, let say 20...

Love this idea. That would totally feel awesome and full of freedom. Also the idea, that some the type of spell would decide, if its masterfull or usable is brilliant.

You would just have to add list of spell into inventory for beginners.

BUT I dont believe the game will ever change to your idea. Too much work.

I like the idea of an optional "challenge mode." Maybe the traces could appear and then fade after a few seconds so you have to eventually trace from memory. Or maybe something like Ingress where you have to trace a sequence of spells.

@OriginalCaruso @ClairabusGryff This idea is almost "ancient" in regards to the forum, back when I was still only at 1* or 2* at best, I think.

@Lucoire - First time I have seen it. I wish the Project or Product Manager were more engaged with the community. I’d like to see a poll for proposed features for the regulars to vote on

Not being exclusive, but the regulars are probably the most advanced / experienced players with probably the best HP lore (I exclude myself here)

One thing I have learnt through being PM on several IT applications is that users have the best ideas both about how their product should work, and the features it should offer

Without community involvement it is unlikely HPWU will thrive
