I went opposite @Acumen and pretty much went down the tree with a little out of order here and there. I’m down to needing 53 more red books. I’m hoping I can get there by the end of the year, but not sure. RSB’s is another story. There are four hat lessons above this screenshot which haven’t been done yet, as well as what is on here. I think I need 8 or 9 more events to finish those. But, I remember looking at this tree in July thinking it would never get done, and now I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Nice, @Dogoutlaw! Yeah, I think it became clear to most Professors who are moving along at a decent pace that the restricted books would be our bottleneck. With what I have currently, I'm down to needing 55 spell books, but should be down to 53 by the end of the day. If I increase challenge rank every couple of days, I should gather all the red books I need by the end of the year. I'm not entirely confident that'll happen though. The holiday season keeps me busy with all the events, gatherings, baking, and so on.
@Acumen@Dogoutlaw I don't know which thing I would have preferred. You guys require 100 less red spell books which means that professors can achieve their RSB requirements without having to reach 150+ rank in challenges. I've been at 150+ for a while and with the scale capping out at 3770xp, I need 86710 more still to complete my RSB requirement. On the otherhand I hate time caps which is essentially what you have. There is nothing you can do to speed up your progress anymore, it is just a matter of waiting. Preference between required hours of grind on a daily basis or waiting for the time to pass... neither seems to be a winning choice. I think the best for everyone's sake is hoping that new content for the fortresses, mystery items, and story are released soon to ease the wait and grind.
I need 67 RSBs but as everyone else, far more GSBs - I hope to stockpile RSBs whilst I am waiting to complete this lesson plan in preparation for the next
@Ginnungagap I know, it’s a pick your poison kind of scenario. I honestly don’t know which I’d prefer, so in the end, I’m glad I’m happy with my chosen profession. That will make waiting for the last events more tolerable. And on a related tangent, I’ve just realized people use RSB to mean two different things! I say red books (technically called Spell Books) and RSB’s (Restricted Section Books), whereas others say RSB’s for Red Spell Books and GSB’s for Green Spell Books (or at least that’s my assumption). I’ve been confused before when people have referred to their RSB’s, will have to remember this.
LoL, @Dogoutlaw, people using RSB for red books threw me off too. I also use that acronym to refer to Restricted Section Books. I'm with @kiheikid on this one. Spell it out, so we know what you're talking about, lol. Red and green is how we refer to peppers and hot sauce, and that eliminates any confusion, so it makes sense to just call them red books or green books. RB and GB is also acceptable, I suppose. It's only RSB that causes some confusion, and it's mostly because I'm old and a bit slow. 😁
I’d prefer rb over rsb, then maybe less chance of confusion. I always call them restricted section books, so that would be a hard habit to break....🤷🏼♀️
Same here, by the way. If I do manage to finish my red books before getting all the green books I need, I hope to stockpile some red books to go along with the mountain of scrolls.
Not trying to pick on anyone, sorry if my comment was taken that way! It was just an observation since I had been confused on comments before! It’s sort of like how people use different names for the fortress chambers.
As much as I want to complete the lessons and love this game, I'm not willing to grind out the extraordinary amount of red books needed. I don't mind a few fortress battles here and there, but they get boring as no-one I know plays, and the only people I have seen are locals who I can't chat with very well. I guess I just sit where I am!
@Magpie31 - The good news is RB have been added as event rewards reducing the grind. However, GB remain the issue for Professors completing the lesson plan and I don’t see that changing any time soon
@kiheikid - Keep going, it’s the only way to progress, any try to enjoy the journey :)
currently at 976 unused scrolls in this vault (sigh)
at 4 scrolls per day for completing daily assignments, i’ll unfortunately reach 1000 scrolls in six days ... less, if i rank up; more if i earn some green spell books to spend - except i might not have enough green spell books if brilliant event stronger united week 1 rewards only 14 green spell books instead of the usual 15 green spell books (because i currently have zero green spell books)
and unfortunately hit 1000 by ranking up during gameplay while returning all those high threat foundables
*there is a cute, slightly dirty joke along those lines, but it involved pushing an earthworm (instead of rope). i won’t tell here, since it might trigger a warning point ;-p

for those of us with 1000+ scrolls, is it worth it to spend enough scrolls on 20 lessons of one or both of the other professions (in my case, auror and magizoologist ... since i am a professor) so that we can get a regular invigoration draught as the reward for mastering 20 lessons in that other profession’s skill tree (lesson plan) ... even if we have no intention of becoming a true switch-hitter ?
asking this out of boredom, and frustration because 1000+ scrolls with nowhere left to spend them within our chosen profession (unless the scrolls accompany required green spell books or red spell books) is pretty ridiculous
@kiheikid - We have no idea on scroll / RB / GB consumption for the next lesson plan so I am not switching
Notwithstanding the above, a L38 Magizoologist friend needs ~200 RB and zero GB to complete their lesson plan
The difference is that RB needs tower time therefore more in the player control whereas GB are event driven therefore far less in player control
There is a clear imbalance between scrolls / RB / GB across at least Professor and Magizoologist lesson plans but until we see the next lesson plans for each we won’t know whether this has been addressed
Niantic have delivered two blockbuster games (Ingress and Pokemon) with demonstrable longevity, I expect WU will be their third. In other words, we are at the start of the game therefore I expect lots more content and structural changes (level cap increase, new pages / platinum? Onyx? Etc) so I’m not agitating for change until I see WU unfold more
Having said all that, and in line with my comments elsewhere, having a ridiculously high amount of scrolls without means to use or convert to books doesn’t make any sense at all, renders scrolls meaningless having so many
On the other side of things, at 680 scrolls and tired of the permadot, I ran three-quarters of the way through magi lessons (not using red books obviously) and am now a lvl 6 magi and lvl 12 Auror as I grind for 200+ red books and 45 green books.
Will I ever finish magi? Who knows, possibly, but I like Auror and will at least finish the first lesson plan before determining if I want to get my "masters" when they open up the next set.

Trying to look on the bright side of this...

Grinding RSBs out is the order of the day

just like chile peppers and cooked chili dishes, maybe we should just refer to red books and green books

Point taken, RB and GB it is...
Nice! Thanks, @OriginalCaruso. 😁

RB = red books
GB = green books
👍got it

@Acumen @Owlx @Dogoutlaw @OriginalCaruso
I disagree with all of y'all. I am going to go for consistency within the game. It will now be scrolls, strong scrolls, and potent scrolls.
^^ Somebody kick this guy out! He's had enough to drink! 😄
@Ginnungagap BLOCKED!🤣
🤣@Ginnungagap
@Ginnungagap
@Acumen
10 points each from Hufflepuff & Slytherin!
Don't make me ignore you both
😝
59 RB to complete RB lesson plan sections. Difficult to predict when I will complete these, it’s a grind!
As much as I want to complete the lessons and love this game, I'm not willing to grind out the extraordinary amount of red books needed. 127 red books left to complete
and
109 green books left to complete
for me
level 33 overall as a professor
and rank 13 in professor skill tree
(still not quite sure how to describe myself via the numerous stats)
@Magpie31 - The good news is RB have been added as event rewards reducing the grind. However, GB remain the issue for Professors completing the lesson plan and I don’t see that changing any time soon

Unpleasant kicker today when reaching RB level 100 - challenge points jumped from 2000 to 2520
51 RB to complete the lesson plan and far too many GB to think about
Whist I am sounding off, why is there a level cap of 60?
@kiheikid - currently on 2162 Scrolls, keeping on pushing the rope...
@OriginalCaruso -
yup, pushing rope is an apt descriptive metaphor*
and unfortunately hit 1000 by ranking up during gameplay while returning all those high threat foundables
*there is a cute, slightly dirty joke along those lines, but it involved pushing an earthworm (instead of rope). i won’t tell here, since it might trigger a warning point ;-p
This is bonkers. Having spent 12 GB acquired tonight I still have 2190 scrolls
48 RB and 113 GB to go...
