Werewolf Issue - Couldn’t take down when it hit Zero
Anyone else experienced the werewolf coming back when it hit zero for at least two more strikes? Then it disappeared and you don’t even get your rewards. I experience this twice. I was able to snap a picture of it before it actually disappeared on me but only able to get the picture of it at the 0/300. I haven’t seen it any further but it did happen to me twice. Anyone else experienced this?

That's a weird one @SaiDax. I had something similar happen as I was leaving my home today to wander around for Community Day. I engaged a werewolf as I was heading out the door and I think I defeated it right as I loss connectivity with my WiFi router. It ended up just standing there with zero health left and I couldn't do anything but watch it stare at me. As I walked further and my phone switched over to LTE though, it eventually completed and went to the summary screen.
Daughter and I experienced the same today with all three Oddities. After about 15 seconds the Oddity left the screen and no points scored. I'd say it happened about 7 or 8 times. (It didn't ruin Community Day at all for us, but wanted to report it nevertheless. )
Wizard on!
Thank you @Acumen and @NursePoppy for sharing your experiences. I thought it weird the screen looked like it was going to close and materialized back again or just never left. Just like@Acumen said looking at you and I’m unable to cast a speek or anything. It started to happened with the Vampire as well then this message showed up.
How can you take action if it doesn’t left you make a move. I am going to do a in-game report and see what they say but wanted share with my fellow players.
However, this did not ruin my day; I leveled up and was able to earn 94 Dark Arts Runestones I had fun!
It happened to me a few times as well and I think as @Acumen said, it may have something to do with the connectivity.
I got a picture with the vampire doing this, but it did also happen with the werewolves. Some did also show the rewards screen later but not all of them
I think it could be a connectivity issue like @Acumen mentioned but then it is happening to often. Everyone can’t be having connection issues like this this often. I actually was connected to my WiFi right outside my house. Then when I walked around I picked up AT&T 5G connection.
So I understand what you are saying @Imaginatio, but when the connection issue has been removed from the equation we’re left with a a possible system error.
This of cause is just a theory in all respect I am just taking a shot what could be a logical reason. However, it was so funny to see people looking at me fussing with my phone. “Oh, no you didn’t just do that you freaking werewolf, or vampire. Your gonna pay for me losing my XP points and Runestones!” Then I’d look up and smile say “It’s a wizard thing!” and keep walking Swishing my Black Wand stylus.
Happened a lot during community day. It was so annoying.
@SaiDax It may also have to do with your phone switching from WiFi to mobile data. Whatever the cause, hopefully the HPWU team can find a solution.
Also, lol. 😂😂
@SaiDax @LeFayeofAlbion @Imaginatio
If you have an Android phone, Google has an option to automatically connect to high quality wifi. Disable this option while playing HPWU! The game does not like the connection switching from cell to wifi, and often times that won't happen until you also reach a position where the wifi connection is tenuous at best for a while. It is under settings > wifi > wifi preferences.
Hope this helps!
@Ginnungagap Not an Android phone. But it’s okay. I’ve just learned to stick in one place when I start doing an important trace or a fortress battle. Just ends up looking slightly weird when I’m walking down a road and suddenly stop. Oh well, a wizard’s duty comes first 😂

I live in an apartment, and whenever I get inside the lobby or into the elevator, stuff like that always happens. For me it's mainly connectivity. BUT! That being said, it has happened a few times even just walking around, but I think it might be cell towers and switching from one to the other? Not sure how to explain that one.
I always turn my wifi off as leaving the house when pottering cos i know it can confuse issues.
But it still happened a few times to me that day- maybe when the 4g was low idk? But it just looked funny- they went down, then popped back up to life as tho to battle for a second!- id stare at the screen thinking 'what are u doing! You're dead' - bit of a silly thing to say to a vampire 😂. But then the reward screen would come up & encounter was as usual after that.
So i just had a few weird momentary back to life errors. Hopefully the devs can look into it for future similar events.
It didn't spoil the fun, actually it made me laugh cos they looked so strange boinging back up off the floor!! 😂 - wouldn't have laughed it didnt see results screen steaight after tho- oh no- that would have been a stern shouting at my phone moment!!!
@Imaginatio same!
@AuroraKadavra sometimes I encounter vampires close to dawn and I’d be like ‘Hey isn’t it past your bedtime? What are you doing? Go to sleep! Or you will die!’ And then proceed to attack it. Day in the life of a witch!
My phone is a pretty old phone and doesn’t support AR, so I play on my dad’s old iPad that I begged off of him, but it doesn’t even have a sim. So I use wifi from my mobile’s hotspot. That could be an issue. Wish it weren’t but oh well.
@LeFayeofAlbion lol 😂 that is so true with the vampire.
@AquaSaiRose
i’m from Vegas...tried to add you as a friend as I am looking for locals to help with challenges...I think it said you couldn’t accept more friends...is that right??
need local help!!
@xblvr just cleaned up my friend list. I’ve gone from 200 to 72. A lot of people are not gifting back. But it’s cool. I also changed my Friend Code to 3052 4256 0426. I have space for new friends now.
This issue was what I was talking about in my recent post, except in fortresses where it takes a greater toll. People seem to have totally misunderstood what I was saying.
@LeFayeofAlbion I read the post and I too had still experienced this during the last event and the Christmas Calamity. I wonder if they will address this. This resurrection with no life left is not conducive to our success in the game.
@LeFayeofAlbion I had that happen once in a fortress, but haven't been able to reproduce the effect. However, my vampires do tend to resurrect themselves on a frightening basis, usually after I taunt them about all the posturing they do.
The fortress event for me did not time out because it was the third of five, so the pop-up happened and I yelled at my phone, but had enough time to finish my run. I'll try to recreate it on my end but part of me recalls having wifi and data on at the same time.
You mentioned once you play on an older device (I was rereading a forum post) do you keep it up to date on patches? Could that be part of the trigger?
I'm not a tech person, but I will keep my fingers crossed that it goes away soon and you can get back to namaslaying those pixies!
