@NursePoppy That is a great list of tips!! I'm putting together a Community Day guide now, I'll be sure to include these and tag you in it 😀 Thanks!

the xp will come, sooner or later

the extra dark arts runestones will come without tonic, and maybe we get even more dark arts runestones from the 10 incremental added oddity traces during one 30-minute tonic (assuming every oddity trace during community day drops a dark arts runestone) ... but the tonic is not cheap (unless you have plenty of erumpent horns and plenty of time for brewing).

do we really need that many dark arts runestones (dars) for halloween ?

10 dars/30mins = 20 dars/hr = 60 dars for 3 hours extra from tonic use; but shouldn’t we already be getting tons of oddity traces (WVD) because of community day, without tonic use?

yeah, for sure i will take whatever dark arts runestones get dropped from the oddity encounters in the community day 3 hour block ... i’m just not planning to goose it by using tonics for trace detection then

    good luck to us all

for those who may be interested, i started a separate thread, with spoiler warning, regarding wizardsunitehub.info’s report (based on 2.5.0 data mining) on what the harrowing halloween event might include

Are you still finding partner inns regularly? Most of the ones in my area were changed to fortresses. There’s only one place I know that still has partner inns.

@Loratadina are you in States? I believe the Simon malls still have sponsored inns. But my understanding is all the AT&T locations changed to fortress.

@Dogoutlaw yes, in the states. The closest partner inn is now 40 miles from my home. It makes it more difficult to play. Why did they make that change?

@Loratadina - probably due to game balance OR commercial sponsorship agreement

Sorry to read you have problems with lack of sponsored Inns, are there any notable features you can submit to create more non-sponsored establishments?

@NursePoppy love your post!! Great advice & enthusiasm for game & the benefits it brings like the walking shines through.

Ive lost my right leg achilles & have big toe tendon pinned there instead (ouch) so have trouble walking too far & this game has been the only thing in 3yrs that gets me out of the house no matter the weather etc.

I feel like a kid again I get so excited with playing & the events! Lol.

Good luck to you for tomorrow & happy hunting!! 😀

@mtpollux If the Master Note effectiveness is increased by 50%, that means it will take off 22.5% (15% plus half of 15%). So it will take 23 minutes to brew.

What I am wondering is if that also applies to the rental cauldron.

So, would it be: 30 minutes - 10% = 27 minutes, and then 27 -22.5% = 21 minutes? (Hope my math is right, it's been a long time since math class!)

Also, I can't even get into my rental cauldron so I am not sure if it even matters (to me at least). Usually when my rental cauldron doesn't work, I restart my phone and then it works, but I tried that and it still isn't working.

Also, I wish I'd seen this before I started a bunch of potions brewing. I think (hope) if my math is correct that they could possibly all be done by 11:04 AM. That's if I do the Master Notes on each potion immediately when available, which means either staying up until 1 AM or setting my alarm to get up and do it for the last one.

Update: At least I seem to be able to access my rental cauldron now. I restarted my phone again and it didn't work at first but when I button-mashed on the "Rent" button several times, it finally popped up!

    @CeruleanGirl

@Dogoutlaw and I were looking at the same math. Apparently the Masters notes isn't increase by 50% but TO 50% as stated in the following.

@Ginnungagap Oh, really?! WOW! That's pretty cool! Thanks for clarifying! So do we know how that works with the rental cauldron?

(I just realized how many exclamation points there are in that post but oh well, it's exciting!)

@OriginalCaruso How can we go about submitting places to become non-sponsored inns? There’s hardly any around me...

@CeruleanGirl If it’s 30mins and master notes reduces this by 50%, then in the normal cauldron each elixir should take 15mins to brew, so you could get 12 over the three hours of the community day event. Technically with the rental cauldron it should be even quicker as it speeds up brewing by 10%, so the elixirs should brew in about 13mins with the master notes, so you could get 14 over three hours.

I hope my math is correct. Someone else can probably verify this.

Remember to keep a close eye on the potions, so you can use the master notes for each one. Maybe use a timer so you don’t forget about them while going after the oddities.

A quick note, when a potion is under 10 mins it takes 1 gold piece for it to finish brewing. Under 20 it's 2 pieces and under 30 it’s 3 etc. If someone has the gold and an abundance in elixir ingredients, you could choose to use the gold to brew even more brain elixirs. Just a thought.

Also, if it's like in the past, potions in your queue during the event will have the same time even after the event ends. I think I'm going to risk it and add BBE to my queue before the event ends to see if they also have the reduced brewing time. But no guarantees since this hasn't been announced or anything!

I'm so glad so many witches and wizards here are mathematically inclined!

I don't math well. I figure BBE usually take 12 hours so reduced to 30minutes before master notes. BBE will brew really fast. I'll set phone timer based on the cauldron. Planning on renting a cauldron probably for the day. Brew BBE until I'm out of ingredients. Hope my portkeys have dragon claw.

Also wish I could gift or trade soon leaping toadstools for dragon claw.

I still really want to be able to buy another cauldron in game. Then I would need more vault space😖

@MrSciGuy - The below guide should help

Some of us play Ingress too and can submit portal requests on your behalf. One of the weirdest portals I have seen is a nondescript manhole cover so please be creative :)

@Imaginatio - your math is confirmed in the anthony constant aka @Valki livestream youtube vid of community day in melbourne - i posted link in the “spoiler” thread in the community day section here

ie, 30 / 15 mins in regular cauldron

    and

    27 / 13.5 mins in rental cauldron

Thanks @CeruleanGirl for the catch on my math, although it turns out not to matter lol.

Thanks @Ginnungagap for the pointer to the even better news about the master notes.

I'm looking forward to brewing lots of BBEs today!

@OriginalCaruso Thanks for that guide. That does help me understand a little better. I’ve never played ingress before and honestly can’t start up another new game at the moment. But my area is very limited as far as inns and fortresses go.

You mentioned other people like yourself being able to submit requests on my behalf. How exactly would I go about doing that? It would be extremely appreciated. I know there are some other people in my area that play WU because I’ve seen things growing in greenhouses and the swirl around a fortress.

@HPWULola community day started an hour early in Brazil with no warning. We missed a chunk of it, and I’m sure some people are missing this full hour 😰

@Imaginatio your maths was defo the closest! I couldnt believe how quicky it managed to brew, took a screen shot as one was just start brew & after id put master notes in for rental cauldron- and though the timings are affected by the few seconds or more it took in screenshotting & entering notes- it worked at 24min.28sec before notes, 13min.9sec after.

    It was awesome!!

I wish id had more dragon claw! I would have happily paid the 1 gold piece & brewed about 30 if i could have 😀

I actually had planted toadstools a couple of days ago and wasn’t planning on going back to harvest them yesterday but happened to be nearby so I went by and got them. That was before I read the details of CD. If I has seen those first I would have increased the yield but I didn’t think of it at time. I did get four, though, which is not bad!

@AuroraKadavra Glad to know I was calculating it properly. I had got 13 point something, so I rounded it down, since the last potion will still continue to brew even after the time runs out. So happy that we had a chance to brew them in such a short amount of time. I had quite a bit of dragon claw, so I did end up using a few gold pieces for that as well. I didn’t count how many I brewed, but at the start of the event I had about 11, I used some during the event and now I’ve got 37. Not sure how long it will last though with the other two events still to happen this month. Let’s see.

@CeruleanGirl Oh no. It is still good that you got some toadstools. Hopefully, you’ll get the relevant info and enough time to prepare for future events.

Since I already had a bunch of toadstools, and got three in a Portkey this morning, I was able to brew 20 BBEs. I had to pay for frog brains for the last three. I was sure I would pick some up before I needed them because normally I pick them up all the time but of course when I need them they are nowhere to be found. 🤨

And, voila! I found 3 on the map at about 2:05 when it was too late. 😂

@kiheikid was right. I didn’t even need to use a single Tonic. There were so many oddities spawning that I couldn’t keep up with them at times. I ended up running out of energy at the first (closer to my house) Park I was at and had to go a bit farther to the bigger one because it has tons of energy sources (18 greenhouses and 31 Inns!)

I did use 6 BBEs because I love XP. I ended up getting about 120000 XP for that three hours. I beat 104 werewolves, 53 vampires, and 20 doxies! That’s a lot of Runestones. And I was also pleasantly surprised to get a few potions, coins, and dark detectors from encounters also.
