what to do with leftover brilliant runestones ?

i had about two dozen, and currently still have 14, brilliant runestones leftover from the back-to-hogwarts brilliant event(s) back in august, after i had placed the registry images for trolley witch (week 1) and hogwarts boat (week 2)
if i am pressed for time or am low on spell energy, i will usually choose one of these leftover brilliant runestones to fight one or two low level chamber fortress battles - more for satisfying daily assignment task than for getting xp or challenge xp or additional fragments (by the way, so far 10 for 10 in getting trolley witch fragments ... i thought that after the brilliant event, these runestones are supposed to have equal chance of returning either the trolley witch OR the hogwarts boat)
any better ideas on how to use these leftover brilliant runestones? (thankfully there is no vault limit on number of runestones we can hold, unlike potions and ingredients and seeds)

I have leftovers from all the Brilliant events, and I'm not sure what to do with them either. Like you pointed out, there's no limit on vault space for runestones, so I've been holding on to them just in case. Kind of like my drawer full of random cables and adapters.
I have nothing to confirm my thoughts here but I suspect events will cycle - there can’t be an unlimited / infinite series of events as the application resources on phone / tablet will be exhausted at some point
Another clue is the event runes are all Level 1 - so maybe we will see higher level runes later in the game
I’m also curious as to how / when the Dragon Eggs will reappear, 3 hours for an event just wasn’t enough and I hope the feedback has been well received - no chance of perfecting pages if the creatures can’t be caught, and this would be a waste of phone / tablet resources too
I think re-opening events will happen, if there are parts 1 and 2, why not 3,4,5 etc
I use my leftover Brilliant runes to fulfill the Daily task and my regular runes for Community days (when applicable) and for when I have time to sit at a Fortress for an hour or so.
I deleted my leftover Back to Hogwarts stones, since I never get low on the others and do not have the time to burn them for XP. No regrets and happy to have that option now.
Might be in the minority, but I use them as much as I can to max out the rank for the brilliant event they come from. For the last event and this one, you only needed 40 family XP to rank up and get 5 scrolls instead of the standard 4. I've banked 180 scrolls for when I get more spell and restricted books.
used my last 8 brilliant back to hogwarts runestones today in the bonus assignment of brilliant fighting forces event week 2 — to complete 10 wizarding challenges
decided to use those 8 in ruins chambers 1 and 2 to save on spells and save time. by the way, i am a professor and letting deteroration hex polish off each round’s 2 foes, while saving on spells, totally worked - so the bug re det hex ending a challenge round seems to have been fixed.
the 8th and last such runestone used caused me to rank up in the old back-to-hogwarts registry page and get yet another runestone which i used for my 9th of 10 bonus assignment challenges - this time in ruins chamber 2.
and then i used an extra brilliant fighting forces ruestone for the 10th such bonus assignment challenge, again in ruins chamber 2.
