Masterful Traces
I want to know; what tips do you have for traces? For example, for Arresto Momentum, I only started getting great when I sped up. I say Mississippi as I trace to make sure I'm going the right speed. What tricks do you use?

speed is more important than accuracy, this is a universal tip
corners of many spells can be cut, instead of the arc you can almost always draw a straight line
Doing travel quickly is most important, followed by accuracy. It will take practice. Using a stylus might help I find you work better with a pen.
*doing traces quickly
my phone has mad lag on this site
In all honesty the masterful traces I feel don't even do much I'll get a masterful and it won't work but get a fair next and it wins it's weird to say the least well except for the achievements from getting the masterful thesis are always welcome lol.
I've never gotten higher than great. I shall try to be faster on the trace. Thanks!
You can also help yourself by following the spell. Once it comes out of your wand it should initially red and black but if you catch the spark of spell that should the correct color and drag it in a clockwise circle at the same speed as the rotation you can improve your odds. It takes some practice
I had the same theory about following the spell, but it hasn't made much difference for me.
For me, it depends on the spell. On certain spells, if I go fast, it won't give me anything higher than fair, but if I go slower, and am decently accurate, I'll get good or great. I've gotten masterful on two types of traces, and accuracy was almost more important than speed on those two.
Its all about speed and accuracy. I'm close to 200 Masterful casts so far but there are some spells that are just a lot harder than others. Definitely be stationary and concentrate. Also, never underestimate the usefulness of a Dawdle Draught. Often, even a Masterful cast will still scare away a rare confoundable.
Incendio gives me the most trouble
With myself personally, I’ve noticed my nerves can get in the way of it. If I’m just walking along and wing the confoundable quickly, I’m more likely to achieve great or masterful than if I’m sitting down, trying my best to be accurate as I stare at the screen and use my index finger. In a way, it’s a bit realistic when you think about spellcasting. The more confident you are in your abilities, the more powerful the spells have potential to be.
Speed and accuracy will help you do masterful traces. But I think speed is more important :) and it's very difficult to master a trace when you are in transit :P
I've found it helps to go at the speed and tempo of saying the spell. Alohomora in particular, I almost always get great/masterful if I follow the tempo of the spell. Hasn't held true for all of them, but very confident on that one.
I've been struggling with casting. I have wondered, is it a lefty thing? My cursive is barely legible, could that be it? lack of practice? My wife (amazing caster, cursive too) suggested a lighter touch on the screen. I looked at her astonished considering pressure sensitivity... The verdict is still out but my casting has improved significantly.
