So, something to look forward to as you get further into the game:
Going from Challenges Rank 99 to 100 is 2000 points.
Going from Rank 100 to 101 is **2520** points, and god only knows what each rank increase will be from here on out.
Will update again when we find out what the 101 to 102 increase is, and whether going up over 1/4 in the amount of points required for one level has increased the book award at all.
If not, we'll see how long this game continues to hold interest, because that kind of jump is obnoxious and unnecessary and I'm not sure I'm inclined to reward Niantic for putting the brakes on people's progress this hard, especially not after finding out how much easier people had it during beta.
Same nonsense they did with nerfing professors, over-correcting both by significantly weakening powers *and* making them the most expensive class to advance in by a wide margin. Like, I understand wanting to keep people from progressing too quickly, but you solve that problem by doing *one* thing to slow down players - say, by lowering the red book rewards per rank *or* making each rank continue to increase in cost - not by throwing everything including the kitchen sink at them in a desperate attempt to keep people from... what, finishing their first book of abilities out? It's not as though there's any such thing as an endgame here.
It is typical in these games for one profession to appear better than the others...then a change will happen that will cause one profession to be needed and another to become better. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the professions going back and forth is worth as the changes happen with updates and future lesson plans.
I teally do wish we could get more spell books. Im lvl 33 auror, level 52 challenges and minimum next spell books needed is 12 and i have 7, the next lot then all need 17 red. Ive got 430 scrolls lol.
It does seem to take forever to get the books, but way i see it im like yay!! Now when i do- so it means more, and perhaps we arent supposed to be finishing off our skill trees in 3 months- maybe thats happened quicker than they thought & we were spoiled early on? We can still solo pretty far up in the towers.
One thing with that though in towers with the skills we have-isnt it a lot of work for little xp? You can earn more just catching confoundables esp with baruffio going- so theres only the incrntive of the fragments- and i suppose the fun of battling down to the last second! But its not much xp for your efforts there?
@AuroraKadavra I can't remember, but do you have a significant other or friend who you can play with. I have found my methodology to get the books to be extremely effective. I think I went through it in another thread about the books.
Oh i remember now @Ginnungagap that thread! Yes ive finally got hubby into it, hes level 26 now & daughter i think level 21, so theyre quite hooked. We've been trying to get time for fortress together but doesnt always work out. We do 'dusk run' hunting oddities that's always fun together. But il make a concerted effort to try & get us doing that for the increased xp. Well reminded thank you 😊
@AuroraKadavra it can be hard to get fortress during the week. If you are near a Simon mall, you could go for a couple hours on the weekend too. I don't expect people to be quite as crazy as I am. Work kept us away from the fortress this week so we went to the mall Saturday and met up with @CVRLuna . We had a great time and got me mostly back on track with my crazy goals.
Yeh its this timings for us @Ginnungagap , hubby does a quick fortress before work on his journey before 7am! Daughter doesn't really bother, and i can do mine during the day as I'm at home. So when we get our hour of an evening its a bit of a collect ingredients, spell energy & as many confoundables- then oddities as dusk comes as we can. We do sometimes fit in a 15 min fortress if weather not too bad.
We don't have Simon Malls in uk- very jealous of them cos lots players have mentioned them & sound great with sponsored Fortresses too! I know one person mentioned what he'd got at his local Tesco, and some asked- what's a Tesco!? 😂 that's a sort of mid-range in posh to cheap supermarkets here in uk. I have a shopping centre (they are called here) with lots of shops & cafes etc all together, theres always plenty of confoundables there- but not one inn or fortress! Seriously!!
@AuroraKadavra there are two Simon malls in the UK, in Ashford and Cannok. I have no idea where that is. They are listed on the Simon malls site under international.
@Imaginatio Thanks for the correction. I’ve only played in Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff & Oxford. All EE stores were fortresses. Too small a data set to assume I suppose.
Ooooh!!! Thanks guys!! Im sat in my little bubble of blissful ignorance lol! Don't get out a lot to town- but i will now i know EE stores are sponsored thats awesome!
And i had no idea we had Simon Malls!! Thought they were just America. Unfortunately @Ginnungagap those are both too far away- quite a drive, but if im ever in Kent down South way or I presume Cannock in Scotland, il defo pop in to look as i pass!
Thanks @Dewin99 & @Imaginatio for info on the EE stores- ive googled sponsored fortresses in Preston before but nothing came up. Perhaps was too general & once i pop EE into it the list wiĺl be there. Chuffed!! 😀
@Dewin99 That’s interesting. I’ve only come across one fortress. The rest of the EE locations were inns. Probably just haven’t been around much in that case. Good to know there are a lot more EE sponsored fortress out there though. Thanks 😊
@AuroraKadavra I hope you find an EE store that’s close to you and fingers crossed it will be a fortress. The inns are good, but a sponsored fortress would be better.
@AuroraKadavra No problem. I actually didn’t even know that some of them could be sponsored fortresses until I came across one. Not sure how the algorithms work for them, but fingers crossed you’ll find a fortress instead of an inn.
@IIIIllll Those both seem like good suggestions to me! As I have said before, we are not asking them to start handing them out all over the place. We just want to be able to get a bit more than we get now. The bundles in the shop are cool, but not everyone can spend that much, so other ways like the ones you suggested would be nice.
Yep, rank 150 and it's really hard to harvest red books to complete the second lesson! 2 is a bit tight. They need to be more generous so people can look forward to progressing in the game!
Comments
Agreed. It would be nice if more red books are awarded for higher challenge ranks.
I wouldnt mind a red book as reward for daily task too.

@PrincipiaCoH
It caps out at level 150 which requires 3750 points. Still 2 red books awarded.
I was a beta player and remember the good old days of 5 red books per challenge rank.
In terms of being the most difficult class to complete I would say that the classes are imbalanced.
Professors need 298165 challenge xp for their needed red spell books (but need a lot more green books)
Aurors need 531905 challenge xp for their red spell books
Magizoologists need 569605 challenge xp for their red spell books.
IMHO all professions should require the same amount of consumables.
@WerewolfChaser don't forget that this is only for the first lesson. The achievements show we should receive new lesson plans.

@AuroraKadavra EE stores (the mobile network) are sponsored fortresses here in the UK.
@Dewin99 , @AuroraKadavra A lot of the EE stores are sponsored inns, but some of them are also fortresses.
@Imaginatio Thanks for the correction. I’ve only played in Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff & Oxford. All EE stores were fortresses. Too small a data set to assume I suppose.
time for developers to allow a player to cash in “X” number of scrolls for 1 red book
suggest X = 50 or 100

I will definitely be checking into that @Imaginatio , hopefully the one in town will be a fortress.
Really glad to find out about that! Thanks 😀

Do you have a complete table with the challenge xp needed from rank 1 to rank 150?
There's one on this page:
Suggestion: have a weekly reward for completing the daily rewards similar to PoGo and reward 2 red books each week.
Another suggestion: when you hit level 100 on Challenge XP, reward users with 5 red books each level instead of 2.

@IIIIllll I would love for something like this to be implemented in the near future :3
@binondogurl were you in a fortress earlier where the magi and prof were not doing anything? #$%
